Advantages: None - did not travel.
Disadvantages: They're THIEVES
I had a BA flight from London to Helsinki yesterday. I'd booked the ticket on the Net and made a mistake by typing in 27th Aug instead of Jul (made a mistake selecting the month box). When I called them, they were not interested because it was a non refundable ticket- call centre. I hunted around London for a place to talk to them, but all the travel places are *agents*, as they'll happily remind you - to get BA themselves, I had to go to Heathrow Airport!!
I managed to get the date changed, upon paying 80 pounds more.
On the morning of the flight, I still had, due to various unfortunate circumstances, to collect my -visa- from the Finnish embassy. I'd tried hard to avoid this situation, but it was simply not possible. By the time it was ready, it was about 11:40, and since my flight left at 12:20, they actually refused to give it to me until someone from BA called them and said that it was OK. I rushed outside and made a call (I'd already -called- earlier to say I'd be late, someone said "That's OK"). BA called the Finns and told them I'd been shifted to the 6 pm flight, and I had my visa in hand.
When I got to the airport - you guessed it! - the desk had no record of me being on the 6 o'clock flight. The ticket desk told me that a *reservation* had been held for me on that flight, but I would have to PAY AGAIN FOR A NEW TICKET!!!
Some frantic arguing between BA in person, their call centre and even the Finns themselves followed, but that's how it stands right now. I've just lost ALL the money that I'd spent on the flight.
To make matters worse, I checked at a travel agency and the 6 o'clock flight had seats GOING EMPTY on it!!
Never do business with this airline, they are bloody thieving scum.
Summary: Thieving scum of an airline with no offices who hide behind their call centre.

They are ALSO Lying pieces of SHIT... Going to Brazil for her 30th Birthday soon, thought I book BA even though we had a bad food episode with uncooked chicken onboard two years ago (which they did nothing about even "Post Travel"); I did this as they they are the only - semi direct non-charter to fly from Heathrow to Brazil. Booked the cattle class tickets on my lunch break, after a telephone call to their sale centre they told me there was 6 seats for sale going outbound, 7 coming in, I asked if there were "Holds or Confirmed" HOLD means: A agent or British Airways themselves have put them on a 24 hour hold. CONFIRMED means: Seats sold and monies recieved I was told they were CONFIRM by the lying gentleman on the phone. I booked online, to save on paying the BA "Offline&q uot; charge of £15 per Passenger, as I have access to the internet (another rip off)... normally you'd expect a online discount, but they charge extra for dealing with humans. So I saw the schedule price was climing, they do this by colour codes on screen, they only offer lowest fare on the schedule selector screen when selecting you itinary. £1619.60 for two enconomy returns!! Paid it, even thought the total was £100 more than the day before because of the warning the salesman on the phone on BA sale gave me. Now the same sale is £1515.60 About 2 Hours later I check the price again (yes after I booked it- just to see if the price climbed more) on the same website and also for the same on expedia, and it's about £100 cheaper. (EXACTLY THE SAME SCHEDULE) So I check BA.com again (& again), as they have a "price promise" it's cheaper there too... 1hour 50 minutes later. So phone up, have a quick moan, they say can do nothing, I suggest "Price Promise" they say try it, and suggested I fill the form in and goto expedia and quote that, as I have until midnight to make a claim. But they don't claim against there own web site.. duh. Anyway I fill the online form in, including web links, and price etc. and checked I met all the criteria... I still wait I phone the BA web site people and ask how it would work.... they didn't know, "It's all done online" - probably by a human? They explained to me that sales staff would not have know that seats were confirmed or on hold, and that it wouldn't have taken time for them to refer to further departments for that info - So the British Airways Lies Once Again (COMMISSION GRABBING TWAT) Not only is there points scheme crap (Try cash and miles- want a skank), the service is too. The hostesses are a bit stuck up, unlike Virgin staff who are the best planet, and soon off the planet.. and I will try my best to save up for virgin galactic ... Virgin cash and miles for Tokyo last year what a treat. It's lies and money. I don't mind paying more, but to buy the same thing in 2 hours... and be fobbed off by someone onthe phone that directs you to the terms and conditions on a web site (The law online is not definded) .. principle comes to mind. If some hackers are reading this, please add www.ba.com to a denial of service attack you maybe planning. I'll keep you posted on the "reply in two business days thing on the price difference" ;, I care if I get the money, I want an apology. http://fly.to/b ritish-airways
