Advantages: Good wage, varied jobs

Disadvantages: two locations, unsure of company future in UK?

In my first year at university at sheffield hallam uni, i won a prize for the best marks and the prize was sponsored by Ford. They offered me a job pretty much straight away, for my placement year, and said If i was interested in workign for the company after my degree to get in touch with them. I am unsure as to the status of Ford in this country following the "reorganisation" of the Dagenham plant.

I know the wages, and training structure of Ford is very good, and offer jobs to all types of graduates; from IT to engineering.

They have two main places of work in the UK, Ellesmere Port nr Liverpool, and Dagenham, Essex.

I was offered around 16k to work there in my placement year, so I assume starting salaries are excellent.

A bit late perhaps now but as a Fordie I thought you might be interested. Graduate jobs are more likely to be in the offices than the plants, although plant rotations are generally included. You wouldn't need to be in Dagenham, if Essex based it would more likely be Brentwood or Basildon. The future of the company is bright, Halewood plant is now a part of Jaguar and Dagenham is looking forward to becoming a centre of excellence for diesel engines, with a new engineering centre being built.
