The annual bonus is excellent and unlike a lot of employers, Halifax pay all their new starters the same wage and don't pay people under one of the minimum wage cut off points any less for the same job. However, the salary isn't great. The shares and bonus packages are not enough to compensate it to a comfortable living wage - there's no way you could support a family on one normal Halifax wage, even by living extremely frugally.... more

Depending on what you're looking for in a job and which part of the business you work in, Halifax are great employers. They're very flexible about things like hours and days and willing to change them and work with you to make sure that you're working when you can. I started working for the Halifax as a part time cashier when I left sixth form. There were actually two jobs going, one full time temporary and the one I applied for. I took the view that it was a foot in the door at the end of the day. My starting salary was £4.74 an hour which rose to £5.66 after 6 months service. After that pay rises were awarded yearly in May. My duties involved serving customers and generating leads from them. I was also trained in maintaining the ATM machines.
