I did a summer internship at John Lewis Partnership in 2000 and it was probably the worst job I have done to date. During the talk they mentioned that Internships will be actively working on "different project", and their skills will be matched accordingly to the kind of work they will do. John Spedan Lewis founded the store I think in the late 19th century. The company is privately owned amongst its employees who are known as partners. John Lewis is a large chain of department stores throughout the country. Their prices are sometimes a little on the expensive side, but you pay for quality. The staff are friendly, they wear uniforms so are easy to spot, and there is always someone around. I have never had to queue at the checkout, and I have never had to fight my way through the store.
