Advantages: Atmosphere

Disadvantages: Pay, stigma

Of the reviews ive read so far on McDonald's Resteraunts, ive only read ones from the customer's point of view. So i think ill make this slightly different. This review will be based on my working experience within McDonald's and experience through organising university studies on the organisation itself.

As an employee...

I was employed by McDonalds Resteraunts LTD. as a Shift Manager, where the job involved organising shifts, employees, and reporting to the Store / Business Manager.

Pay

What can i say, McDonalds is one of the worst paying employers around for everyone upto University Graduate level, after that point the pay is actually quite decent and the company was listed in the Times 100 Top Graduate Employers last year. But, if your starting with the company as a lowly crew member, expect minimum wage, with a pay rise every six months or roughly 20 pence. Pay in the Shift Manager level hung around £7.50 per hour, which was really quite pitiful considering shifts could start as early as 6am, and some would finish as late as 2.30am.

Training

Training is where this company "sort" of brings it together. Training is done by way of peer employees testing you on different aspects of the job, such as health and safety, or cooking procedures. However, the questions were things such as "In the case of a fire what should you do?" "Leave the building vie a fire exit" "Correct".

Good Points

When the store isnt busy, it has a good friendly atmoshere and everyone looks out for eachother and is helpfull, though this could just be because of the people at the store i was employed with.

Bad Points

The pay is poor, and as McDonald's employees we were treated by customers' as if we were the bumbest creation to walk this earth.

On an end note, a heads up about the food served...

Since i left McDonalds a year ago, ive never eaten fast food since. The food is neither made from healthy ingredients to start with, nor is it prepared in a healthy way.

Summary: Unhealthy food, unhealthy job...

I cant disagree with the robbery comment. One of the other managers in my store would take a tenner out the till each night. No way of proving it unfortunately as theres no CCTV in the resteraunts office.
