Advantages: Good pay and flexible hours

Disadvantages: hard work

I have been employed by a Mcdonalds resturants for more than five years now. I am currently working in the position of shift running floor manager. I have worked in three stores as i have moved house three times. I started working in Mcdonalds while i was at school and continued working for the company when I moved to uni. Now i have just finished my degree in bsc hons psychology i am working full time in mcds. The job as a crew member is demanding and customers can get annoying at times.. howver i do feel mcdoanlds looks after their employees very well. Employees wages are based on their preformance which is checked every three to six months. There are promotions availible to anyone that shows some inititive to become crew trainers which get paid well above minimum wage and then to become shift managers. employees get as many uniforms as they need, free meal allowance always get a fourty five minute break and often get taxi home if they work unreasonable hours. There are bonuses for working on your days off and bank holidays. In my resturant there are about ten shift managers and our average wage must be about £9+/hr. I find my job to be good fun and enjoy working with my team. I feel that i have learnt valuable leadership skills and the qualification of BSM i got when i became a shift manager is equivilant to an ALEVEL.. i have done courses in supervising food and resturant safety (NVQ level 3) and first aid at work, along with customer care courses. I think that mcdonalds is a good job if u are suited to the fast paced environment. i love it! and i love the team we have in our store everyone is happy and motivated and this is clear to the customers. we are currently rated about third in scotland for most of the legues in customer service dessert sales etc so we are doing really well and as shift managers this is represnted in our bonuses.

Summary: from the prospecive of a shift manger
