Advantages: A great site!!!

Disadvantages: Sometimes jobs are a little few and far between!

Retail eyes is a mystery shopping website (www.retaileyes.co.uk). It was the first mystery shopping site which I signed up to, as you will see I have already written a review on "mystery shopping", itself, but as this is the company I work most closely with, i thought I would give it a quick review.

Retail Eyes, is a UK based company which works on the same principal as most other Mystery Shopping sites; companies employ Retail Eyes to recruit mystery shoppers to do assignments in their establishments.

These establishments could be pubs, restaurants, shops, hotels, airside shops/restaurants, opticians.

When you first enter Retail Eyes, you need to register, this requires you to answer a few questions to check your eligible to be a mystery shopper, and to ensure your going to be able to do the jobs well. Once this is done, you recieve a confirmation email, and you log ion straight away.

Once logged in you MUST update your profile, if you don't do this, your very unlikely to get any jobs on your job board, the profile questions assess which jobs will be good for you, for example if your male, the jobs which come up will not tell you to go into a womans clothes shop and ask about bra sizes!! It assesses your hobbies, where you visit alot, what shops your regulalrly shop in, etc. You then enter where you can do jobs, I suggest you enter everywhere you are willing to drive to, this way you are more likely to get a bigger range of jobs available to you. For example with me; I live in Warrington, but I am often visiting my parents in Lanacaster, and so I put that I can travel to Preston, Morecambe and Lancaster as well as local places. This makes my list of jobs much bigger!!

When you sign into your account, you will see a screen which has the assignments you are signed up to do, and below it the available assignments. To sign up for an assignment, you click on the available, and a new screen will come up with all available. The jobs are laid out with the address, the nature of the visit, the fee you will recieve for the visit, any reimbursment you will recieve for the visit, and also a key of what you will need for the visit (i.e. if you need to upload a reciept, if you need to be over 18 etc).

If you see a job which you are interested in, you click on the job notes, read through and then if it sounds good, you will fill out a short questionnaire which ensures you have read the brief and understand what you need to do for it. If you pass this, you then need to chose your date of visit. This is normally specified, but sometimes you can choose between numerous days you can visit.

You then sit back and wait for the day to come around. When the day of your visit arrives, read through the brief which Retail Eyes gives you and make sure you know exactly what you need to take with you, exactly what you need to do, any questions you need to ask.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BRIEF WITH YOU! This is very important! If your seen with the brief and revealed as a mystery shopper, your unlikely to get paid for the job if you do need to take it with you, make sure its well hidden, make any notes you need to on your phone and make it look like your sending a quick text message! You need to record the exact times your there, waiting times etc. So attention to detail is very important!!! But each job is different and wants different things from the visits.

When you have finished your job, thats it for the main part, you then need to go back onto Retail eyes within 24 hours, and imput your results into a questionnaire set out by the company, these vary, but normally ask you about the service you receieved etc. You must remember your reciept if given one as many assignments require you to upload it! And take note of the shops either side of the place your visiting, as this is a security question to validate your visit.

Once uploaded your receipt, and imputted your answers, you will then send the questionnaire, and it will be read by the client- if there are any problems a Retail Eyes worker will call you- they're always very pleasant on the telephone and get the matter sorted out quickly!

Retail Eyes have two pay dates a month, so you will get your payment within 2 weeks of doing your visit, this is through BACS (straight into your bank account!) and is very quick and efficent! Then your done, you get points for each assignment you have done. There is no limit to how many jobs you do, but if you release them, you lose two points, and if theyr'e not completed you lsoe 16 points. Meaning your much less likely to be accepted for jobs in the future!

Retail Eyes is an excellent site, its fun work, and it pays on time each month.

I definitely suggest Retail Eyes if its your first mystery shopping site. Its very easy to use, and the people who work for them are lovely to speak to!!! :-)

Summary: A great mystery shopping site, especially for beginners.
