TescoNewest Review: ... the same time (no joke). Anyway, after about 5-8 weeks of this, i got a call from Tesco asking me in for an interview, and i jumped at the chance. I got offered a job on the checkouts which was 2 evenings a week, and a saturday shift, which was 3 times more hours than i was on at the other place and the money was pretty much double the rate too, so it was a no brainer. I must admit that at ... more |

My brother worked at Tesco before i did as he was a couple of years older, so when i got to the age of having to find a part time job, i really didn't fancy working there. Not because he worked there, but because the place and the staff didn't look inviting or friendly, and it just seemed like the last place i would want to work. However, i was forced to hand in an application form anyway (thanks mum!) in the vain hope i would get a job. I actually applied for a few jobs that summer when i turned 16 and i ended up getting a job in another shop, but just a saturday afternoon shift. The money was terrible (well below what i expected) and the work was ... Read the complete review

My review is on the Tesco Metro in Nottingham (victoria Centre), Ive been working for Tesco for around 1 year now, and have got a good idea about it. Firstly the Money is Brill (around £6.70) which is the highest paying supermarket and MOST of the staff are fun to work with . BUT on other hand in Tesco Metro nottingham the staff are so arrogant (some Team Leaders and most older staff) . and the Duty Manager (Rob) is so unorganised it is pathetic magangment for the store, he firstly lies about things to the Tesco Union also he one time forgot to put this other employees Application through Personel so when it was pay day she didnt get her wages and had to ... I have worked at Tesco for the past two and a half years since I left school in order to fund my uni life. I have continued to stick with the company because it suits my student lifestyle. Reasons for this are as follows... *~Pay~* In comparison to other part-time jobs the pay is very good. As a checkout operator who has worked there for more than a year I am paid £6.94 an hour. This is slightly more than the normal wage (which is still over £6) as I work in an inner city store. There is also added location pay which helps as living in Edinburgh is expensive. Workers are paid time and a half for working Sundays and Bank Holidays which is very ... Read the complete review

I have applied for a job at Tesco three times and my boyfriend has done twice and we have both been unsuccessful. On the three occassions I tried I actually only got sent an application form once! If you walk around my local store it is a bit like some strange horror movie. You notice that the majority of the members of staff look strangely alike. At first you think it's you imagination but you begin to notice it every time you go. You wonder if this is a 'special' store where they are testing robots or something else straight out of a strange B movie horror story. Then it hits you and everything falls into place. They only employ you if you have a member ... Read the complete review

THIS IS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE AND MAY NOT BE THE SAME AS OTHER STORES. I worked at Tesco from March 2006 - June 2008. I was on home shopping at Tesco Aldershot. For a start Tesco have hardly any health and safety standards where I worked. Fire exits were blocked and we were working in fairly awful conditions. Apart from the store manager, checkout manager and many others, there were a reasonable population of managers that did no work, contributed nothing and was out there to make many of our lifes there damn awful. Bullying like constantly asking what your doing before you go home (expecting us to stay on) and before we went to break! I found this very ... Read the complete review
