Advantages: Its work
Disadvantages: Its hell
Like many desperate for work these days, I've ended up working at the dreaded place. Their treatment of staff is unbelievable. I have witnessed accidents and seen first hand that staff are left to suffer. The store I work at, does not have an accident/incident book, it frequently does not have trained first aiders to hand. Staff work through their breaks, work hours and don't get paid for them, mistakes are frequently made in Tescos favour over payment of over time (its often left off). Bare electric wires were left in the vicinity of water areas worked by employees. This company is profit based and cares little for its employees. God help us, we put up with it for fear of joining the ranks of the unemployed. Why does Tesco and other major retail stores get away with such blatent law breaking? More to the point, why is there nobody who checks up on these power, profit hungry giants? The way 'kiddy' management speak to older members of staff is also disrespectful and appalling. I only hope the job market picks up soon so I can get the hell out!!
Summary: Despondent
