Braun Silk-épil 7891 Series 7 Dual Epilator
by DollyEclair
I've been waxing and using an epilator for the past 15 years. I've always found epilators to be very painful and time consuming and only really useful for getting at the odd stray hair in between waxes.
My epilator was really old and I'd heard that they'd improved a lot in recent years so when I say this on special offer in ... boots I thought it was worth trying.
I don't want to lie, epilating still hurts but this moves much quicker than my old machine so the pain is reduced. My favourite thing about this epilator is the fact you can use it in the bath or shower. This significantly reduces any pain and means you can epilate as part of your daily routine so that it doesn't take very long. If you have a lot of growth on your legs it can still be time consuming to get them silky smooth but they stay like that for much longer than shaving.
The epilator comes with various attachments for epilating different areas but to be honest I always ended up using the same one and I've now lost most of them. Being able to change the head from an epilator to a shaver is really good as it means that you don't need another appliance.
I haven't been able to find any spare parts on the internet to replace the various attachments that I have either lost or broken so if anyone has any links please pass them on. Read the complete review |

Philips SC 2001 Lumea Hair Reduction System

For someone with rapid growing hairs, that are stubborn to remove this could be the right product. I have been having my legs waxed for years (15ish) and they still kept coming back. It was costing £25-£30 per month, so I thought that although £270 seemed a large outlay, it was only 9 months worth waxing. Plus the inconvenience or ... getting to a salon.
So this is something I can do to fit in with my life whilst watching tv, which is a lot more practical for a busy mum. There is a definite technique, but there is a very helpful light that comes on when you have the position right so you can make sure every click does the job and you are not wasting time by using it without getting the results. You need patience, although with practice I reckon you can do each leg in 15 minutes.
Does it hurt ?-
not at all, you can't really feel anything although if it is too much of a hot setting for your skintone/hair colour (it comes with a helpful guide to make sure you choose the right setting) it does feel warm.
Downsides -
it is hard to see what area of you skin you have done and what needs to be done. Maybe marking areas with eyeliner may help with this??
Battery life - it doens't last that long and you can't use it whilst charging which I find a little frustrating.
And as for the final results - it definately reduces hair amount and speed of growth, however after using it for 10 months, I am still having to use it every month, but maybe that is because I have thick stubborn hairs!! Generally a much better result than 15 years of waxing. Read the complete review |

Braun Silk-épil 5780 Xelle Body and Face Epilator
by anwenjane1
I had this epilator for xmas 2011. and i was very excited to try it out, because i had always waxed as shaving never lasted very long for me, so i wanted to try something that would last a bit longer, but didn have to make beutician appointments all the time. at first i found it a little uncomfortable, but as i got used to it and ... tightned my skin a bit more it was very barable. i was amazed how smooth it left my legs, and the red spots were the hair had been pulled out of dissapeared within 24 hours. as i got braved i tried my under arms, and that was a fantastic result. so smoth and not very painfulll to do. all together my hair started to grow back after about 3 weeks, and i would eppilate quickly and they'd be gone! the only slight problem id have would be as the hair are growing back, the area would become a bit itchy so i could tell hairs were growing back! but after exfoliating properly the problem would be solved. i will never shave againg, my epilator is the best Read the complete review |
