“ Brand: Babyliss / Type: Men's Shaver „
A few years ago facial hair wasn't something that bothered me, I never really had allot and any hair was welcomed as it made me look somewhat older. I used to be a fan of the crisp clean shave, but after realising it made me look about 12, i decided to grow some manly facial hair. I am one of those lucky lucky people that can grow facial hair ridiculously quickly. I first purchased one of those battery operated shavers that cost about £8; I think it was a gillette shaver; pretty useless to say the least.
About a year ago I decided to stop hacking my facial hair with a gillette razor and purchase a beard trimmer. I looked around and decided to get the Babyliss 7855U. I really do love this little beast and it helps me keep my facial hair neat at an affordable price. I think I originally paid around £50 for it, but now you can pick one up for around £25-35; bit of a bargain when you think about it. It comes with a little stand that connects to a plug charger and various little cheap brushes for cleaning any remaining bits of hair off your face. To be frank I threw those brushes away i quickly figured out that a quick swipe of the hand and a wash did a better job than brushing my face with some tacky mini brush.
The overall product is great for the price you pay, and it does a great job; with 30 settings from 0 to 15mm, allowing you to go from a rugged hobo to a clean shaven man in minutes. It comes with a small amount of lubricant that allows you to clean the head. The beard trimmer comes with a guard that creates an even shave across your face. It's also quite durable, i've often thrown it into my wash bag and it still works just as good as it day on the day I bought it.
The size of the shaver makes it sometimes difficult to shave in certain places especially if you have a square jawline. It's also quite difficult to clean and becomes full of tiny bits of hair quite quickly. The battery life can be good and bad depending on how often you shave, but there have been occasions where i've been late for work, get halfway through shaving and the battery dies; not really what you need when your in a rush. Tacky/cheap brushes.
I do really like this product, and I don't intend to buy another one until this device breaks, but I would have liked a mini attachment so i could shape sideburns and other areas more easily. And for a price of £25+ it's quite a good deal.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but not if you had to pay the same price I did.
Excellent product, i got this for Christmas '09 and i use it multiple times a week. I find it very easy to use, it comes with an easy to read LED display showing the variable length setting going down as far as 0.5mm which i use. This is a great product if you don't like shaving everyday, but will stop you looking like a bum. the plastic head covering the blade can be taken off if you want an even closer 'trim' although i don't feel you need to.it comes with a stylish stand to charge on although you do not need the stand as you can plug straight into the unit, but it looks cool standing up charging. My only concern is cleaning the head you get a little bottle of oil to keep it running smooth, the brush is a bit tiny but it does its job.
Overall i was very impressed and will continue to groom and keep my designer stubble.
Battery life is good and it stays charged for a good 3/4 trims.
I got this as a Christmas present a couple of years ago , mainly because I dont like to shave every day. I use it to keep my stubble at an acceptable level and tidy looking
The machine has an LED display which shows the length of the cutting blade which is adjusted by pressing one of the two buttons on the main body of the machine , the cutter comes with a plastic guard which is moved up and down in the adjustment , and conveniently comes off for an even closer cut at 0.5 size
I dont have the plastic guard on to shave my face and use the 0.5 size which doesn't give me a totally clean shave but doesn't make me look like an unshaven hobo either , however I use the guard when shaving my chest hair to keep that trim and find size 1 is short enough
The cutting sizes go through a variety of sizes from 0.5mm to 15mm so will suit most needs
The machine also comes with a foil casing to use as an electric shaver but I have never used that so cant comment upon how good it it
The small three legged stand allows the trimer to be charged in a vertical position but I find it just as easy to plug the charging plug into the bottom and lay it flat
Cleaning is very easy as the machine comes with a small brush ,and a bottle of oil to be used on the cutting blades , Ive had mine for 2 years and only had to oil it once , the cutting head also comes off which allows cleaning underneath the cutters.
I will say although its guaranteed for 3 years that I was not impressed by the customer service provided by the UK agent for Babyliss , as I dropped my trimer on holiday and thought I had lost the cutting blade and so contacted the customer service department , I was informed it would take 6 weeks for the cutting blade to be sent out , Luckily enough I found the cutter in my suit case a few days later.
I have also found that whilst I dont use the machine every day , it does not seem to hold its charge now as much as it did when new , perhaps this is due to me dropping it or , the fact its 2 years old but worth being aware of
Id recommend this trimer to those who like to look tidy but cant use an electric shaver or choose not to
I cant comment on the price I got it for as it was for a present but I have checked prices below
