      Boots Epilator

When it comes to shaving my legs I generally either do it with a disposable razor in the shower or I have an electric shaver that I use also. However, I recently got talked into buying an epilator as my sister in law said her legs were much better after having used one of these. I thought, what the hell, it was the start of summer and to not have to shave for a few weeks would be really great, especially as I was going on holiday and did not want to have to bother with shaving my legs all the time. This Boots epilator is said to give you silky smooth skin for up to 6 weeks, perfect.

An epilator is basically a shaver type device that removes hair by grasping multiple hairs simultaneously and pulling them out. Ouch, just the sound of it makes you wince with pain. Before I used it I had people tell me that it was like waxing as the hairs are actually pulled out from the roots and not just cut as they are with a razor. Well, I cannot stand waxing on any part of my body so I was a little unsure about using this epilator but I persevered.

This epilator looks just like a shaver. In the head section where you would normally find the blades you will find discs that move together and then apart once the device is turned on. It is this action that works to grab the hairs when the plates come together and tweeze the hairs out and then releases again to go over another part of the leg and grab more hairs. This Boots epilator has 18 discs so you do get a nice coverage on your legs as there are lots of discs working together.

The epilator has two speeds and I put it on the lowest speed as to be honest I was quite scared, well oh my god, I had every right to be, upon moving this over my legs like you would a razor it was just pain pain pain and I had to stop for a while. I literally felt like my legs were being ripped apart which I guess they actually were. Now, when I felt the leg after doing this is was actually nice and smooth so I did persevere and carry on but wow, did it hurt.

It took a while for my legs to calm down but afterwards I did really like the effect it had on my legs. They were nice and smooth and probably lasted for about a month which for me was really nice. I have to admit that I have not done them again since, the pain kind of puts me off however I have heard that with each time you do it the pain gets better so I think I will try it again but as winter is coming up and I will be hiding my legs under jeans I might not do it for a while.

In order to clean this machine its nice because the head comes off and has a little brush included that you can just sweep across the plates and get rid of all the stray hairs as they are quite a few caught in it after you use it.

The epilator cost me £30 and comes with a little pouch that you can store it in.
