Advantages: great results, pretty design

I have been shaving my legs for years but with the recent price drop on epilators, it seemed I really needed to give this option a try. If anything can get rid of hair for longer than a couple of days then what isn't worth trying. There are a number of brands out there now doing epilators but it is all about finding the brand that suits you. With my search process I came across this Philips epilator, not only is it pretty to look at but it has a number of different heads and its features seemed ideal to me.

PACKAGING

This epilator comes in a very bright and colourful box; it has the Philips logo clearly displayed. On the front is a women with a hair free body in a purple dress to match the product colour scheme and then an image of the epilator and information on the epilator. It is easy to hold as well, the epilator is small very much hand held and has a purple jewel on and off witch. It has a lilac edge and then has a lilac pattern on the front but looks very nice and on top is the shaving head.

THE EPILATOR

This epilator claims to keep legs smooth for weeks and not just days, it removes hair from the root leaving skin smooth and it comes with a number of attachments to make epilating easier.

Lift & Massage Attachment: With this attachment, I did find it quite nice, it lifts hairs and the massage twist part is meant to stop pain from being so intense. It also positions the hair so that it should epilate easier and closer making it a mild process. I found with this head that it was quite relaxing and did help but unfortunately with mine, the massage head broke off so I can't get the full effect now.

Shaving Head with Comb: This attachment follows the lines of bikini and underarm hair to get close to the hair. The comb is there to trim hairs before to a certain length and should always stay close to skin for the best outcome. This is an effective head, it is not at all painful and easy to attach and trims with ease.

This epilator is very easy to use; it is quite noisy but apart from that it is a great little gadget. I find my hair does not grow back for about 3 weeks and compared to other epilator that is a very good result for me.

In terms of cleaning the epilator, it is very straightforward. Firstly, you take off the epilator head and then rinse under water and hairs should fall out. If there are any excess hairs this epilator does come with a brush specifically for cleaning that will dust away and clean your epilator ready for the next use.

I have used the epilator on my underarms and legs mainly and find both are easy to remove hair from. The epilator curves right into the grooves, especially with the massage head attachment and you do need to go over it a few times as hair grows in different directions. This epilator is less painful than other models I have used which I am very pleased about as there is nothing worse than it hurting or it will put you off.

In terms of using the epilator, hair is meant to be 0.5mm at the shortest or no longer than 1.5cm. Before using I normally use it a couple of hours after having a shower as if hairs are too wet it will not work as quickly. You just use this when skin is dry and it has to be plugged in which doesn't bother me as you do not need to wait for charging which can be annoying with other brands. This comes with a long cable and is easy enough to use anywhere. It doesn't take too long to epilate depending on what you are doing but average time is 10-15 minutes and you know that will be you for a couple of weeks.

The box has a shaving head, an epilator and a brush included and an instruction manual to help you along if you are unsure of what to do. I found it very easy to get the hang of using this model.

COST

If you are considering buying an epilator, then you can get this model from a number of places. I got mine from Amazon for £27 but its RRP is £55 so you almost get it for half price which is good value for this. Boots are selling it for a huge increase of £56.16!! So you definitely want to opt for Amazon as you could buy 2 for the same price!

If you want more information on Philips as a brand and their product range then go to their website at http://www.philips.co.uk and click to consumer products and then personal care and epilators and you should see this model.
