What comes in the box ================= 1 Epilator 1 Epilator head 1 Lady shave head 3 Epilator attachments 1 Cleaning brush 1 Charger 1 Carry case 1 Pair of tweezers ==WHAT ARE THEY== Epilator ======= This is just a plain white Epilator, that has a button at the top right side of it, this is to release the Epilator heads or the lady shave head, whichever one you are using. All you do is push the button gently in and it will release the head. On the front you have the power button, this has two power speeds for the lowest one you push the button at the top, for the second speed you push the button at the bottom, also above the button is a light which makes it easier to see any hairs you may have missed. I found this quite useful as my eyesight is not too good so I always missed the odd one or two hairs when I used my previous Epilator. At the bottom of the Epilator is where the charger plugs in to. The epilator is quite plan and basic but I like the fact of the lights, and it also tells you if the charge is running low on it too, by flashing red. Epilator head =========== This is just a simple attachment that clips onto your main epilator and have sever tweezers that spin round when it is switched on that pull your hairs out at the roots. Lady shave head ============= This is just like any normal lady shave head with a few mall little razors, it is well protected so that you can not like your normal razor, its not sharp, although I do find it can leave a bit of a red mark when you use often. Epilator attachments =============== These are small attachments that are attached to the epilator on, there are 3 different ones in total, one is totally plain and the other 2 have like roller balls on them, these are to try and reduce pain, and also for a closer shave, they do as they say in the instructions but they can prove a little tricky to take off the Epilator head, and even after using this a few times I still find it a bit tricky and I have to fiddle around with it. Cleaning brush ============ This is just a small black soft brush that you just rub over the small tweezers and it will get all the loose hair out of the attachments. Charger ========= This is just a plain white charger, very similar to a phone charger, all you do is plug it into the bottom of your Eplilator then plug the charger into the wall and it will charge your eplilator, you do not need to have the charger plugged in while using as long as you have already charged it up, however you can also use it whilst it is plugged in too. Carry case ========= This is just a plain white bag, which is quite soft to touch and has plenty of room for your Eplilator and all the attachments, it has a zip at the top to fasten the bag so you do not lose anything. Tweezers ========= These come in a small round case, the lid of the tweezers has a small mirror attached to it so you don't have to go in search of a mirror whist tweezing. The tweezers are silver with a small light attached to it, the light has a simple push button to be able to use the light, this is yet another thing I found ideal to be able to see any loose hairs better. How often do you need to shave ========================== I think that does depend on the average person, I use the lady shave every day, but I only use the epilator roughly every 3-4 weeks which I find really good. But some people may need to do it more, and I find the more times you have used it the less you need to do it. Does it work on face and body ===================== This is the part to be honest I found a little misleading, I though or was hoping this would come with an attachment to be able to do you top lip, but it does not. The only reason that they have stated that it is for body and face, is because it comes with a pair of tweezers. So apart from the tweezers it is not advisable to use it on your face. How long does the charge last ======================= I have used this on my arms and legs which can take me up to around an hour and I have done this a few times before I have charged it up, but as I have never let the battery run totally out I can not say for definate how long it lasts, apart from that I do know it lasts longer than 3 hours. Does it hurt ========== Well when I first started using an Epilator it does hurt, but I did not find it hurt that much with this, but when you have used Epilators for a while they do not hurt anyway, so probably on your first few times of using it will hurt, but you do get used to it, also the longer the hairs it is removing the more it does hurt so try not to let them grow too long loll. Do you need to use the Epilator attachements ================================== Well I thought the attachements were just there in case you wanted them, and I thought that if I did not use them I would get an even closer shave, well I was wrong and I would not use them again without the attachments. A few weeks back when I used it without the attachments it took a layer of skin of my leg, and I still have the scar there to prove it loll, so i would highly recommend using any one of the 3 attachments and do not make the same mistake I did. Can you use it in the shower ===================== No this is a dry use only epilator, and as it does state that in the instructions I have never tried using it when any part of me has been wet. Price ===== This cost me, well my boyfriend £69.99 from Argos, although you may find it cheaper somewhere else if you shop around. My overall opinion ============== I really like this Epilator so far I have had no problems with it apart from the cut on my leg which was my own fault. The only thing I did not like is that I found it a little misleading saying it was for your face too when that is only because you have tweezers in with it. I like the fact also now that I do have a lady shave in with it, which saves me from going out and having to buy seperate razors, although I don;t think it does shave as easily as a normal razor, I have to go over it a few times rather than just the once. My legs and arms are always smooth when I have used this and it leaves no red marks or blotches on the skin, so as soon as you have used it you can go out and show your smooth legs off. I also like how long the hair removal lasts, so I am not having to redo it every few days. 3-4 weeks is pretty good going without having to reuse it. Even though this is pretty expensive to buy I would recommend buying one as I do find it very easy to use, its head is slightly bigger than a normal epilator so it does cut down on the time it takes, and you do not have to go over it several times either. usually I miss one of two hairs on the first use, but the light on the epilator helps me to see them and a quick go over again and they are removed, a must have for any woman in my opinion.
After a recommendation from a friend, and years of shaving that has continuously made my hair grow back thicker and darker, I decided that it was time I tried something else. I was wary about using an epilator for the first time because I've heard that it can be painful, but I went ahead and bought this one by Philips. The epilating kit comes in a really handy little bag that is create for keeping all of the bits that it comes with together (the main body, the charger, the separating head). The fact that the head disconnects means that it is really easy to clean. Although I have not used other epilators before, when I did a product comparison, I noticed that this one has a wider head than others and so will get the job done with more quickly. There are also two speed settings, again so that the product works more quickly when you are feeling brave! The first time that I used this product, I have to admit, I was horrified by how painful it was. The sensation really is like the one of plucking your eyebrows, but stronger as many hairs are tweezed at once. I was however really impressed with the amount of hairs that it managed to remove; only the shortest of hairs were left. I think the epilator is definitely able to catch hold of shorter hairs than waxing. Despite the pain of my first encounter, I decided to persevere and use the epilator again a few days later when the shortest hairs that it had missed the first time where a bit longer. This time, the pain was much less intense as the hair growth was much less. So I am hopeful now that the worst is over, and as long as I keep on top of the epilating, the pain won't actually be that bad at all. With this in mind, I now think that I would suggest to people that they shave to begin with, and epilate the re-growth rather than waiting for it to be nice and long like they do with waxing. Yes, this might mean that you have to epilate every other day for the first couple of weeks, but in my opinion that would be worth it to avoid the pain. But hats off to the braver of you who plunge straight in! Since I have been using the epilator, I have loved the fact that once I have plucked the hairs they really do take ages to grow back. Also, already they seem to be growing back finer and less numerous than they were before. For me there is no going back now. I would definitely recommend this product; it is more painful than other beauty techniques I'm a fan of but the results totally make it worth it. Not to mention that I can stop buying razor blades... This product is excellent value for money.
A really good epilator, lots of heads and so simple to change and clean Now if you have never epilated before be warned its not pain free despite what the companies would like you to believe! I'd even say its more pain-full than waxing but its much more cost effective. And this is defiantly one of the less painful epilators on the market. There is also the advantage of if your a bit shy and don't want to get your bits out in front of a total stranger it is a much better option. This epilator also has the advantage of having a light fitted to it which makes it so easy and simple to see the hairs which i think is FANTASIC! It also comes with a plug so you can re-charge it no battery's needed. Once fully charged you will get at least 2 leg treatments out of it and it will work whilst plugged in :) With this epilator there are 3 different epilating heads, one extra wide head and two that have pressure features that tilt and make it easier to go in all different directions. And there is a shaver for trimming any hair which comes with a head (the same as you would find on a men's set of head shavers) so you can chose which length you want to use. Also included are a pain of tweezers and mirror with light attachment on the tweezers this makes it really easy to see any stray hairs. WARNING- WHEN YOU TURN YOUR EPILATOR ON IT IS REALLY LOUD DONT BE SCARED EVEN THOUGH IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS GOING TO RIP YOUR SKIN OFF IT WONT!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - Friendly warning - - - - - - - - - - - - - I won't lie: Epilators aren't meant to be pain free. It's basically mechanic tweezers, so you have to expect some pain, despite any gimics the companies throw at you. * * * * * * Now for the good news; The Philips SATIN PERFECT really is a lot less painful and quicker then the other half-dozen epilators I've tried. Yes, it still stings a bit, but you will become tolerant to it, and will hardly notice it after a full uses. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - So why does this hurt less? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is because the epilator has an extra-wide head. This sounds like that'd mean it'd hurt more, but as it's faster then most other epilators, as well have having attachments to help lift hairs away from the skin and to massage your skin, it is more or less pain-free. I don't have to keep running it over & over the same area, as a wider head = it covers a larger area. Another simple yet effective feature is the built in light, that's help you see any hair you've missed. In fact, it's so much gentler then other epilators I've also tried it on my underarms, bikini line & face. Yes; this did hurt more, but it was a grin-and-bare-it niggle, rather then a blood-gore-and-earpiercing-screams pain. - - - - - - - - - The extras - - - - - - - - - You get a attachable 'hair-lifting' head in the box, to use before epilating that helps prevent ingrowing hair. To be totally honest I've only used it once as it adds more time to the whole process. I've had fewer ingrowing hairs then I've had from shaving anyway. Just use a good exfoliator in the shower/bath. If you've never used an epilator before you'll benefit from using the massaging head, if only to become used to holding the epilator and the offputting noise it makes. If you're nervous about using the epilating head on more sensitive areas, you can remove the epilating head & attach the (included) razor + trimmer head. As well as the epilator, caps, and razor head you also get a fantastic pair of tweezers. Tweezers are just tweezers aren't they? Nope. These tweezers have a light in between the prongs to help you see the finer hairs. You can use the tweezers anywhere. - - - - - - - - - - The results - - - - - - - - - - The results vary person-to-person, depending on how fast your hair grows. Some people are lucky enough to have 6 weeks hair-free. The hairs begin to grow back after 7/10 days with me [My hair does grow fast though]. They are so fine when they do grow back; if you're in a rush for work etc you could just wear skin tone tights. No-one will be able to tell you're having an `off' day! When the hairs regrow it'll be at different speeds, so it's really just a case of touching up now and then. As its just a few hairs at a time, it doesn't hurt at all. - - - - - - - - - My opinion - - - - - - - - - It takes an hour to charge the battery from empty and it'll last around 40 minutes. This is plenty of time for me to - ahem - defuzz both legs, but it would have been great if the charge lasted longer, for when I need top-up sessions for stray hairs. Apart from that I seriously have no complaints about this whatsoever. Overall: I find epilating a lot preferable to waxing; you don't need to wait a few weeks for the hair to grow long enough for the wax to be able to pick it up & besides, I think that this hurts less. Plus; You won't cut yourself, like with razors. Isn't that annoying? Having to shave every other day, the nicking your leg so you have to cover up anyway? Finally; While the SATIN PERFECT isn't the cheapest epilator available, it is much less painful and quicker then the other half dozen I've used. Also; consider how much you send on waxing, razors & shaving foam over time. - - - - - - - - - - In the box - - - - - - - - - - Epilator Hair Lifter Attachment Active Massaging Attachment Trim & Shave Attachment Luxury tweezers Travel Bag Cleaning brush * * * * * * RRP: £100
