“ Brand: Philips / Gender: for Men „
I have had a few shavers in my time, all of them electric and none of them as good as this. I have previously only had normal electric shavers but both the band and rotary type and none of them cut as close as I would like or left my skin feeling nice. My skin is a bit of an issue as I have quite sensitive skin and often came out with red blotches after shaving.
On receiving this I was happy with the feel of it in the hand and I stuck it on to charge in the stand, the device promptly filled up and charged really quick (fully charged in under an hour). The shaver works really simply, there is an on button and a dispense button, the dispense button does give the right amount of the shaving cream / moisturiser to cover.
The shaver feels good on the skin and gives a fairly close shave, the shave if you take care is consistent and in 2 years I have only nicked myself twice which is a strike rate that I am willing to accept. I do however use the cream at a much quicker rate than shown on the package as each one lasts about 6 weeks rather than the 3 months I was expecting.
I noticed recently that the shaver was not cutting so well so replaced the shaving head with a new one (around £20) and it cuts like new. The heads are really easy to clean they can just be run under the hot tap which displaces most of the hair and then for a more intense clean you can pop off the head and do a good job of it.
Overall this shaver is really good and I would recommend it to anyone who like to use electric shavers.
Bought one because seemed like a great idea , worked great for 3 or 4 months now it takes forever to shave. Tried every thing from more lotion to less, nothing helps. Does anyone have any ideas ? Also have kept it very clean and well charged.
Over a hundred pounds seems like a lot of money to spend on a shaver (although it´s now available for less than this on Amazon, for example), but if any shaver´s worth so much money, it´s this one. This is easily the best one I´ve ever used, as it´s comfortable and convenient to use, and is designed with some really good ideas taken into consideration.
The Phillips Nivea Shaver has three flexible heads which move to fit your face and also, in the middle a hole which pumps out Nivea lotion to soothe your skin when you press the button on the body. You can refill the lotion easily by pressing the refill canister to the shaver and squeezing it. Also, there´s a battery indicator that tells you how much power you´ve got left.
There are two things I really like about the shaver. First, I think it really improves the shave that you can squeeze the lotion onto your face while you´re shaving. This lubricates your skin and makes it easier for the heads to move across your face, and reduces the irritation and rashes you might get afterwards. It´s a really nice, cool feeling. Secondly, I like the fact that you can wash the heads in water - just run a small amount, immerse the heads and turn on the shaver, and all the hairs inside will come out, leaving the heads clean and effective. This is a really easy way to clean your shaver, and means it´s easy to make sure it´s always kept in good condition.
The only negative is that there isn´t a trimmer attachment, which I think is really useful, especially if you like to leave a bit of stubble or shape your facial hair.
Overall, this is an excellent shaver that I think is worth it. It gives you a really good shave, and the lotion is an excellent idea. I would reccommend it.
I hate shaving full stop! However, if you have to... Bought this as opposed to many other cheaper models because of the following:
* Docking station
* Nivea shave gel
* Three heads which are easy to clean
* Quick charge function (I am forgetful at times!)
* Battery indicator
* Control over amount of gel dispensed
* Travel charger so that you don't have to take the docking unit
* It's waterproof - I prefer to shave in the shower
Overall, the unit is fantastic. I have no complaints about it. Only one thing that bothers me about rotary shavers in general... I tend to use it in circular motion and perhaps that causes my stubble to grown in weird directions? Maybe it's me and my odd way of shaving.
Some people are moaning about clogged heads; simple clean them regularly. Mine has no issues with a full beard as well. The heads all screw off to reveal the blades underneath for cleaning or replacement.
Refills and cartridges are easy to find, Boots, etc. but I would recommend shopping online for the best deals for both the shaver and refills. Found mine at Amazon for £79.
I hope you found this review useful!
I brought this razor from my son for christmas and have asked him for a review to put on here so people can have a decent opinion:
"I asked for this for christmas as I had only ever really used a wet shaver (Gillete Fusion Stealth) and having seen this half price in boots (£149.99 down to £75) I decided to give it a go.
On opening the box I found it to be nicely packaged and quite secure. Inside there is a 75ml bottle of the Nivea Moisturising cream amongst other things such as a two pin charger, refill station, travel case, brush, shaver head cover and small charging stand.
The shaver is really simple to use and the instruction manual was really detailed, but easy to understand. It guides the user on how to correctly install the nivea bottle and gives general tips for the best shave.
The overall look for the shaver is very classy. It looks modern and goes well in any bathroom. The nivea bottle is also disguised quite nicely and even though it is showing, it still looks good.
The instruction manual says the user must charge before first use so after fitting the bottle and inserting the shaver into its dock i started to charge it. A weird and loud noise occurred which turned out to be the stand pumping the cream into the back of the shaver. I then left it to charge for three hours before using it for the first time.
The shaver gave a really close shave and i think i prefer the nivea cream to standard shaving foam. It makes the shaver glide across your face and its smells quite nice too. After my first few shaves I noticed a small red rash by my adams apple and guessed this must just be my face getting used to the effects of an electric shave. This proved to be correct as within 4-5 shaves it didn't come back.
The trimmer is also an excellent feature. To use it one simply pulls of the shaving heads and attaches the trimmer to it. This also can give quite a close trim and is crucial for perfect sideburns.
The running costs of the shaver are relatively low, the only thing needed is the 75ml bottles of moisturising cream which retail for about £5-6. They last a very long time and are well worth the cost.
Overall I am very happy with my new razor and will definitely be recommending it
Current price £67- £149.99"
Please note all proceeds will go to my son and i am not trying to scam the site by giving his review. I simply wanted to expand on the reviews on here and hopefully help the dooyoo community
I have always wet shaved and I have 5 different razors ranging from 2 blades to 5 blades at varying price levels and I have always found the 5 blade to shave the closest with the least irritation.
I stopped wet shaving about 3 months ago when on holiday with my family, my granddad mentioned using electric shavers and said that he finds it a lot better than wet shaving. I was given a rubbish electric razor a few years ago and as my hair wasn't the thickest it was quite hard to use the razor as it just glided over the top of the hair. For the last 3 months that same razor has been working well and has done quite a good job. It got to December and my mum asked me if I wanted a new shaver as a gift for Christmas, I browsed the net and Amazon had good savings on their mens grooming products. One offer caught my attention the most, this was the Phillips Nivea Coolskin HS8060, RRP of £150 down to £60. This razor comes with a charging/refilling station which you would usually have to pay more for. Looking at the other models in the range, they were more expensive but without a charging station, so it paid to have the charge station even if I wasn't likely to use it.
The charge station is roughly 5"x3" at the base and stands at about 7" tall, it comes with your normal 2 pin plug, I wish it had an adapter of some kind to put a normal 3 pin plug on it easily as there isn't much space in our bathroom so I would like to keep it plugged in in my bedroom. On the side of the charge stand there is a place to clip the trimmer attachment. There is a bottle of lotion included and is simple to use either way you choose to fill your razor, if you put it in the stand you just need to twist the top and turn it upside down into the hole at the back of the stand, it is then ready to dispense when you put the razor into it. There is also a little travel charger which is quite small, it is round and about 2.5" across and about 1.5" high, it would do the job while on holiday as the lotion in the razor should last the duration of your holiday. There is also a trimmer which is the same as your usual hair trimmer but slightly smaller, it is interchangeable with the razor head and it is used for trimming rather than shaving.
When I first took it all out of the box I couldn't understand how the razor was suppose to stay in the charger as it didn't want to clip in as it says it does in the instructions, however when it was all installed properly with the lotion bottle in place, you put the razor into it's home and when you push back it clicks into place and latches onto the sides of the razor. Once the razor is clipped in it will then start to charge as well as fill the lotion unit on the back of the razor, to completely fill it took maybe 15-20 seconds. It says in the manual to charge for 90 minutes before first use which is what I did.
The instruction booklet is quite thick but most of it is other languages, the English section is only 20 pages and pretty straight forward. It mentions in it that your skin may take a couple of weeks to get use to the way the razor shaves although after my first shave with it I had minimal rash and no spots which I usually get. The second shave, I did get a bit of a rash on my neck but it didn't last very long and it wasn't itchy. I am extremely pleased with the closeness of the shave and I no longer get ay rash since my second shave, it is possibly the closest shave I have had, even comparing it with wet shavers and the use of the lotion makes my skin feel extremely soft.
I have seen the lotion for around £7 and not knowing how much to use the first time or how long it is likely to last I didn't want to go over the top and use too much of it the first time. I probably didn't use as much as I should, but you can tell when you are using enough as the razor glides over your skin. The bottle is 75ml and it is suppose to last 3 months with daily use. The razor is said to last 40 minutes from a full charge, I managed to get 33 shaves out of it from it's first charge and filled the lotion 4 times including the first initial fill and another fill when the battery needed charging.
New shaving heads are recommended every 2 years and I have seen these for around £25-£30, they are easy to change and just pull off and push on. Each individual head can be removed for extra cleaning.
I got this for my birthday not long ago. It is a new shaver by philips that works in combination with nivea for men shaving conditioner.
With the shaver you recieve a botle of the conditioner, a stand charger, a fine trimmer attatchment for sideburns and the like, a soft carrycase, a cover and a small brush to keep it clean!
This shaver has a section in the back that carries the nivea moisturiser, during shaving you can press a button to release some of this moisturiser out of the heads ontop of the shaver. This means you have an easier shave perfect for sensitive skin. Sometimes electric shavers can pull the hairs out of your skin and you are left with a rash and spots.
The experiance of a shave with this item is great. The design is very ergonomical and fits in your hand very sweetly. The head itself has what I like to think of as suspension. This means it tracks the contours of your face making everything much smoother!
This model comes with a stand that automatically refills the back of the shaver whilst it is charging, this isnt needed. there is a much cheaper version where you simply pump the moisturiser in yourself , a very easy task. This version costs around £130 - £150 whereas the slightly lower model costs £60. It is worth saving the money on the cheaper one as it is no different from what I can tell!
Shaving.... now what a pain that can be! A pain in terms of the chore of having to do it, but equally a pain, because the whole act of taking a shave for some men, can leave them, feeling uncomfortable by the skin irritation it can cause too.
I should know about these problems, because i'm talking from experience. I can say, for the first it time in my life, shaving is no longer a pain, it's now enjoyable, because of the Phillips HS8060.
What this nifty product does, is not just give you a close shave. If your someone that suffers skin irritation from shaving, then the ability to duel both shaving while moisturising at the touch of a button, seems to be a novel way to deal with skin irritation and all that comes with it.
I've suffered from skin irritation for years caused by shaving. I've tried lots of different things to cure it or prevent it. It had gotten to the point where, as much as i wanted to be clean shaven every day, i was having to give it a miss and shave every third day, purely because of the soreness and irritation to my skin that everyday shaving would give me.
So let me tell you about this product, that i've been using now for the past four months.
What You Get
When it comes packaged, you get...
Rechargeable base & Plug Adaptor
Nivea Moisturising lotion Can
Shaver Heads Protection Cap
Instruction Manual & Order Form For Additional Moisturiser.
How It Works
The shaver plugs into the rechargeable base to draw its charge. The recharger is mains powered. At the back of the shaver is a small opening, this connects and sits in sync with the moisturising can, that sits at the back of the recharging base. After every use, the moisturising can tops the Shaver up with the moisturising lotion automatically. (Takes a few seconds)
The battery charge is indicated by three lights on the actual Shaver and it takes around 90 minutes for a full charge.
The Shaver works against either wet or dry skin, the fundementals of this, is when your shaving, there is a small blue button on the Shaver, that you press that applies small amounts of moisturiser as you shave to your skin. Press the button, and apply as much of the lotion as you wish. As you shave over the moisturiser, it gets worked into the skin. As the facial hair or stubble is cut or pulled out, the moisturiser soothes instantly, thus, hopefully preventing irritations and the after effects of any soreness.
The end product is a shave thats clean, leaves your face fresh and scented. Ultimately the end product after a few weeks use, should clear up any visable shaving irriation on your face or neck and keep that soreness irritation feeling away too!
To begin with, Phillips claim the shaver holds around 40 minutes of charge. Their claims hold up pretty well in my experience, i've managed to get four or five shaves at best before needing to recharge. Equally, you can judge the battery life too on the shaver, when you switch it off, as the lights indicate how much charge is left.
The Shaver is lightweight, and its got a decent grip when holding either wet or dry. Its comfortable to hold when the power is on and the motor is churning away happily. The buttons for both power and applying moisturiser are easy to press and give you full control of using the unit. Its well built too, quite sturdy and having accidentally dropped it on one occasion onto the floor, its not flinched and continued to work fine.
The three shaving heads rotate well and although not as powerful as some other shavers i've used, they are very flexible as each head adjusts itself to the contours of your face/neck and ultimately you get a decent shave as a result.
What i like most about this shaver, is the fact you can clean it by running the heads, while the shaver is switched on under either a hot or cold tap. So maintenance is really easy, not time consuming and simple!
The dispenser on the charging unit is a great touch, innovative and a novel way of topping up the shaver with the enbalming moisturiser.
Fitting the moisturiser cans into the dispenser is easy, likewise, when removing the heads from the shaver if you want to change the attachment to the trimmer, its also easy and does not take up a head scratching few minutes of your time.
Its totally Waterproof! So you can use it in the bath or shower, or you might end up dropping it in the sink by accident and this just carrys on working without any problems.
Noise pollution wise, if i can term that. Its not too bad, the shaver is your normal sound, not too loud, but its not silent either. When charging its totally silent and if anything the loudest noise this whole unit produces, is when its topping up the moisturising lotion form the can into the shaver, but that lasts seconds
Finally, used properly and over a few weeks, it really can clear up visable skin irritation and stop the soreness feeling all together too!
The more often you shave, the quicker you'll run out of the moisturiser. I'm averaging one a month use from one shave per day usage. At around an average price of £7-£10 a time, some people may find this too much of an ongoing expense.
To boot, finding the moisturiser in the shops can be a trawl. I've ended up ordering online everytime, but saying that online is cheaper, than when i've found it in the high street shops.
The recharging base, while looking smart, and designed brilliantly, is just too bulky. It can be awkward to find an ideal place in your bathroom and mine has ended up sat in the kitchen!
Once the battery is dead, you'll have to buy a complete new unit. You can't replace or install your own batteries into this device. On the flipside though it should last a few years, so its still a worthy investment.
Power wise, its not the most powerful shaver i've used. Its does give a good shave, but as like with all electric shavers in my opinion, it still does not give as clean a shave like your bog standard razor.
On the occasions i've not shaved for 3 or 4 days, the longer growth has been frustrating to shave off. The cut does not appear as good, and your left going over the same areas for long periods before getting the result you want.
For me, i can't praise this product enough, its cured a seriously big problem in life for me. I'm sure it won't be to everyones liking, it is quite pricey, and for me its the second most expensive shaver i've ever owned. However this product is innovative and it does exactly what its selling points suggest, therefore its a worthy investment, i can't argue with it and neither is the skin anymore on my neck!
