I bought this product at the weekend and tried it out tonight in the shower. It cost me about £30 from Boots. It claims to be tough on hairs soft on skin. I thought it might make me look like the gorgeous blonde on the box but hey, its not that good.
You can use this lady shaver in the shower or on dry skin. It is pretty compact and looks attractive. It has a pivoting head an aloe vera strip to make shaving smoother and two gold shaving foils which glide on your skin. It claims to have "floating heads" although I am at a bit of a loss to say what this achieves but I presume this is another feature to improve glide.
The product comes with a little travel bag which is just a small white soap bag, although it is marketed as a luxury pouch which sounds a bit dramatic. This soap bag would come in handy if you are taking your shaver on your hols with you.
It has rechargeable batteries included and a charger which plugs into the bottom of the shaver and then plugs into the wall. Initially the charging light eluded me - I thought it would be on the product but it appears to be on the plug and glows green when your product is charging.
The manufacturing recommends you fully charge it for 10 hours prior to use. However, I charged it for about 10mins and then wanted to play with it. It had enough charge in it to do my legs under arms and bikini line. I plugged it back in to charge after use.
The product makes a rather noisy buzz which made me start when I switched it on.
This is the first lady shaver I have ever bought. I have to admit I was a bit scared of using it for some strange reason I thought it would hurt. It doesn't.
The good thing about the product is that you can use it in the shower or for a quick shave on dry skin if you are in a rush.
The shaver glided well on my skin with the help of a little soap. I enjoyed using the product but with thicker longer hair it can get clogged up and if your hair gets trapped in it that can smart a little therefore, if you are doing your bikini line you may want to do a little trim before using the shaver.
Using this product I was able to do all my bits and bobs quicker than I would have done using a razor. It glided well over the bikini line, arm pits and legs. It was safe and comfortable with no nicks or bumps
I would have preferred it if the product had a rubber grip on the handle as in the shower I found that my hands got slippy and it was not so easy to hold the smooth plastic handle on this shaver.
Its easy to clean you just pop of the head and run it under the tap. No problems there.
Unfortunately, the end result was a little disappointing as I found that my legs felt stubbly rather than silky smooth after use. This may be because I have thick course hair.
So overall, a cheap convenient tool to use but maybe would perform better on lady's with finer hair like the lovely blonde lady on the box.
Smooth sexy legs are one thing that I think every woman should have. I personally feel much better when I have shaved my legs, I feel better about myself and more confident when I wear skirts, etc. Usually I just use a manual razor when I am in the shower but for a really nice close shave that lasts several days I like to use my Philips electric shaver. The nice thing about this shaver is that you can use it in the shower with wet legs or you can use it on dry legs as well. This is really handy when you have forgot to shave your legs and then realise your legs are a bit hairy but have planned to wear a skirt/shorts that day and need to shave you legs without having to get in the bath/shower.
This shaver has aloe vera strips on the shaver head so if you do need to shave your legs dry this is a nice addition as the aloe vera really makes my legs smooth and does not give you that irritating razor burn as you would get if you did a dry shave with just a plastic razor. Aloe Vera is always really nice to my skin so I love the addition of it on this razor. Afterwards my legs always feel really smooth and nourished and I love that I can just shave and go, I do not really need to add cream to my legs afterwards which is nice.
This razor gives a really nice close shave. What I like about it is that you can use it cordless so you can really move the razor about around your legs and you do not need to worry about a cord getting in the way. It takes a couple of hours to fully charge it which is not really a problem as I just charge it after use so I do not need to worry about it. The nice thing is you can use it when it is plugged in too if you need to so you never really need to worry about it running out of charge when you have only done one of your legs, not a good look. The charge will last for about 40 minutes which is actually quite a long time if you think about it as it really only takes me about 5 minutes to do both of my legs.
The head on this razor is great as it has really good pivot capabilities so it moves over problem areas such as knees and ankles well and bends and turns with your contours so I never really find any stray hairs around these areas which is nice. I really only need to go over the area once which is nice and do not have to keep on over the same spot which will eventually cause irritation after a while. The shaver is quite small and thin and sits in the palm of my hand nicely as the handle area is quite contoured to give you a good grip. The heads on this shaver are washable. To be honest I just run them under the tap after use to get all the stray hairs off and then they are ready to be used next time. I would say each head probably lasts a month or two of once a week use which I think is quite good value.
I bought mine from Boots and it cost me about £30
I believe all of us ladies have the same frustrations shaving with a regular razor, how often we have to do it, how long it takes, ingrowing hairs, and how careful you have to be to ensure your gorgeous legs do not end up covered in cuts and scars.. well in my opinion and experience - this Philips Ladyshave is the answer to your problems. It certainly was for me.
I paid around £15.00 for my Wet & Dry Shaver - which is a bargain if you compare it to how much I was spending monthly buying regular lady razors. Now I didn't just rush in and buy this because it was cheap, as you can buy cheaper out there... (you can also buy very expensive ones too) The reason I chose this one is because I have ahd other electrical items from Philips before and it is a very reliable brand!
This Shaver runs off 2 x AA sized batteries, which do not run out very quickly, I replace mine about once every 2 months and to be honest I buy a large pack of cheap batteries from my local pound shop. The shaver works just as well as it did on the batteries that it came with.
The actual shaver is white plastic. with pink highlights - very girly. The handle is curved and easy to grip. The whole item is fairly compact so great if you do lots of travelling. I found it very handy to take on hoilday.
I found that the shaver was very comfotable to use in all areas, easier on the legs but you can also use it on your bikini line, armpits etc. As it says in the title this product can be used on wet and dry skin. Since using this shaver I have had no more ingrowning (and very painful) hair on my legs, no little nicks or cuts and no shaving rash!
I still use this item today and I am very glad I did not spend a lot more money on a higher priced shaver as this item is perfect for me!
A ladyshaver had been high on my wish list for a couple of years but the sort of product that I had every intention of purchasing but never really got round to actually buying for myself mainly because I had gotten into the habbit of lazily opting to use my husbands Mac razors much to his annoyance! Finally last Christmas he granted my wish and brought me a little stocking filler size one in the hope that he could cure my habbit of pinching his.
I recieved the Philips Ladyshave Body Contour (model HP6317/01) in a shade of baby blue it is suitable for use with a wet or dry shave as it is completely waterproof. Two centimeters wide at the top of the head and slightly smaller at the bottom with a handy carry handle. The handy pocket size shaver looks sleek and stylish. It is suitable for use on legs, bikini and underarms.

Phillips claim: "This special Ladyshave closely follows the curves of your body allowing you to shave and
trim to perfection on even the most sensitive areas. You can also style your bikini area by
clicking on the extra trim attachment"
Set Up And Directions For Use:
The unit requires two AA batteries which are inserted into the unit by pulling the middle into two sections and simply fitting into the battery compartment and then clicking back together. The foil insert can be easily clipped into position on the top of the blade as can the shaving comb.
Two settings by way of a small sliding button at the top of the head can be chosen for either shave or trim and away you go!
Really simple to use although I found it much easier and far more comfortable to use on wet skin. It did a pretty good job of shaving most of my hair (when there was little re-growth from my previous shave) but did not leave my legs as smooth and hair free as a standard wet razor would. My legs felt a little spikey where the shaver had not shaved close enough to the skin. On longer hair the shaver was next to useless struggling to shave at all so I would assume it would have the same effect on coarse hair as well. Repeated shaving to try and remove the hair only resulted in my legs feeling tender so I tried to rubbing shower gel over my legs and then re-shaving but this had next to no effect either. I found that almost everytime I used in order to get a sleek, soft finish I would have to finish with a wet razor which would have been easier to use in the first place.
It worked really well wet or dry. Removing all of the fine hair and it was pain free. I also found that I could use deodorant after shaving as there was no sensitivity.
Again, it worked fairly well. Not the same smooth effect you would recieve from a hair removal cream but close enough as I would care to let a razor get on such a delicate area! The comb attachment for hair trimming was also pretty good and managed to glide through the hair without any problems.
The unit was quite noisy and the battery life only lasted me around seven or eight shaves. I also found that after around two and half weeks that the shaver began to fail resulting in it pulling the hair and starting to scrape at my skin. It was fairly uncomfortable and neither the foil or the batteries needed replacing and so thinking it was just an unlucky fault my hubby returned and replaced for a new model. This one went exactly the same way and so I decided to stop using for two reasons. One, I felt that the battery life was not sufficient and should have lasted much longer and secondly and most importantly I no longer had confidence that the shaver was safe especially the way it pulled at the hair.
Now I may have just been unlucky with my two units or perhaps this is just an inherant problem with the shaver I don't know as I never bothered to replace for a third time because I didnt want the fuss.
When it did work however it was fairly good for a lower priced shaver which is why I marked it three stars but I personally would certainly be in no hurry to recommend.
I have seen this shaver priced online at PharmacyPlace for £37.67 with replacement foils ranging anywhere from £1.00 to £7.99 for a pack of 5
If you use the shaver more than twice a week Phillips recommend that you replace the foils and the cutter block every one to two years.
I usually just buy disposable razors to do my shaving with but they can vary in price and quality and some of them cut you to pieces. So I thought it would be worth investing in a more expensive shaver that I would get plenty of use out of.
I saw the Philips Wet & Dry Ladyshave while browsing through the Argos catalogue and I liked the fact that it could be used both in and out of the shower. It was priced at £19.99 which I didn't think was too expensive and it's what I was expecting to pay anyway. The shape of the shaver is apparently designed to glide smoothly over the natural curves and contours of your body. It did feel nice to hold in my hand and it glided easily over my body with cutting me at all, so the shape and design of it is good.
But the results of the shave itself were quite poor, I found it took my ages to shave my legs. Twice as long as it normally takes me with a disposable razor as I had to keep going over the same areas several times with the shaver before it removed the hair. You are supposed to be able to trim your bikini area too by clicking the extra trim attachment but I never tried this myself.
The razor head on the shaver seemed to get full with hair very quickly too, even though the hairs on my legs were quite short. It was easy enough to rinse out by just clicking the removable head off and running it under the tap, but I was sick of having to do this several times every time I was shaving.
The shaver is also battery operated and requires 2 x AA Batteries which ran down quite quickly. I found this shaver to be more of a nuisance really and it definitely made shaving more of a chore for me! My Ladyshave doesn't get used much now and it is sitting abandoned on my bathroom shelves. I've gone back to using disposable razors again which I'm finding much easier, after all who has the time to spend half an hour or more shaving their legs!
Having bought my trusty Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver ages ago and then felt pleased with my purchase, I wanted to review it here. I made a suggestion for it to be added to the Dooyoo product list and eventually it was available here.
Since then it has lurked at the bottom of my list whilst I went through other suggested review products, awaiting its own review. As its a good product that doesn't cost the earth to buy or maintain, I feel its worth telling you about.
The Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver is something that is very simple and easy to use. It comes neatly boxed and is ready for use. The box is easy to spot as it has the Phillips brand name on it in blue, set onto a mainly white box with blue highlights.
I think the box is sturdy and well made, from simple cardboard and the whole effect of the product is clean and smart, making it stand out as a simple but modern way to deal with unwanted body hair. I feel its also nice enough in terms of presentation to be given as a gift, perhaps as part of a ladies body care pamper hamper or similar item.
The product within the box is packed safely and securely within a plastic pre formed and shaped tray. This keeps the Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver safe and free from bumps and knocks when in transit. I have kept the box for mine and store the product in there as the plastic storage tray holds it in place rather well.
The Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver was a real bargain in terms of price. I only paid £13 for it which was really good. Having looked at all the shavers and epilators on display in store that day, I was amazed at the prices of some of them. Honestly I think you could go out and buy a small country for the same amount of money as some of the so called 'high end' shavers.
At the time when I purchased the product the sales assistant did offer plenty of advice, which I gratefully listened to and I feel she did give a constructive amount of info about the product, which in turn led to the purchase. The way epilators worked sounded a bit too full on for me, so the option of a light and gentle shaving action, which was what this product gives in reality was far more attractive.
I must admit that the cheap price was a leading factor in the purchase as in the past I have bought similar items, having paid far more and been very disappointed with them. The recommendation given about the product was a good one as it has easily lived up to what I expected from it.
I am happy to say this product was a good purchase for me. Not only was it a good price to buy, but it also came with the batteries that you need to run the product with. The Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver requires 2 x AA sized batteries, which will need replacing from time to time.
Having had the product for a good few months now I can say that so far the batteries have remained working well. The shaver hasn't drained the power much at all and in terms of over all performance the shaver is still working as well as when the batteries first went in.
I feel rather pleased with this aspect of the product, its good to see that you can use it on a regular basis and not have to put up with the batteries always running out, which can be both inconvenient and expensive.
The Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver is made from light mostly clean and fresh looking arctic white plastic. The shaver has lots of baby pink highlights to it, which may sound naff, but actually does suit the shaver and make it look rather pretty ~ Well as pretty as anything thats built to strip off the hairs you don't want the world to know you have, can be!
I feel that the sleek and slightly curved design of the shaver is very nicely thought about. It feels a very useful and comfortable shape. I find it easy to grip, when you hold the product against your skin to work its hair reducing magic. It doesn't slip out of your hand and isn't too bulky either.
The shaver is very compact, easy to take with you when going away and doesn't need hooking up to the main power supply. This means you don't need to purchase an adaptor you can just switch it on and its ready to work its magic. So it a use anywhere product within reason of course! No point getting it out in the middle of Tescos for a quick lawn mowing session between the baked beans and cup a soups aisle.
The product is operated via a sleek looking centre slide button which you push or slide across. Its a good sized button which I find easy to use. The side of the shaver has a small pink toned push button that releases the shaving head from the top of the product on one side. This means you can easily clean under the foil shaving head and around the compartment which is directly underneath that.
You get a teeny tiny cleaning brush with the Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver which has been made to use with the shaver head. Its easy to use and can be flicked across the foil and any parts that have stray hairs on them. The brush is not of the best quality but it does the job well enough.
One thing I have noticed is that any hair that you do find trapped under the shaver head, seems to be cut into the teeniest tinyiest almost microscopic pieces. Most of the hair that the shaver wips off seems to be so fine that it doesn't become trapped within the product much at all. So cleaning is no chore and easily completed in under a minute. Once cleaned a quick wipe over with a soft wipe makes it all hygienically clean and ready for its next usage.
When going for a full leg and armpit deforestation the Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver seems to cope well enough. I wouldn't say that it has to over work itself at all. It seems to be able to glide over small and fine hairs and cut them off in their prime. I have found that best results can be had when using the shaver on wet or damp skin, but it can work on dry skin too.
If using with dry skin I would advice that a light dusting of talc will ensure the shaver glides over the skin without causing nasty nicks or cuts. I have never experienced a cut when using the product and the only thing you can get is a slight rash on very dry skin after use.
To avoid a rash, either use the talc first or try the shaver after having applied a very light layer of baby oil or a similar body oil. By applying the oil very very lightly it will enable the shaver to glide effortlessly across the skin, taking with it any unwanted body hair. Once you get the technique right you will find you don't need to go back over an already shaved area.
To sum up the Philips Ladyshave Wet & Dry Shaver I would have to say its a well priced shaver that works well. Its not a luxury item and does lack a high end feel. Its more kitsch than super chic with its girly pink and white trim (ooh a small shaving pun there!), yet still looks great.
The design and shape of the product is very neat and compact. This makes it easy to use and super easy to pack into a case or holdall for taking away on your holidays. After all a girl does need to be super duper gorgeous and silky skinned when on the beach or relaxing beside the pool.
The shaver head is made from a hypoallergenic foil, which does work well to minimize rashes and reactions to it. It glides across your skin easily at a 90 degree angle and doesn't cause cuts or grazes when used correctly. You can use the shaver either in or out of the shower, either on wet or dry skin.
Over all I feel that this is a really good little shaver that works well and doesn't cause harm to the skin. Its easily worth the small spend it costs to buy it and makes a great alternative to using a hand razor or waxing. It will soon repay you with lovely soft hair free skin.
As such the product gets a full on hair free 5 stars as it does what it should when it should, with minimum fuzz and fuss, in no time at all. If you haven't used a lady shave product before this would be a reasonably priced introduction to these type of products.
This shaver for me is very gentle & safe compared to the razors I had used in the past for shaving hair and still it provides me with the same effectiveness it really is a great little shaver for my underarms & legs.
It has a hypoallergenic foil which is good to hear for people with sensitive skin. The wet and dry feature of the shaver is a great time saver as you can shower and shave so if you're getting ready to go out its a lot more time effective than others. The shaver came with a 2 year Manufacturer's guarantee and a cleaning brush.
The brush is excellent for cleaning the product & the shaver head pops straight off making it amazingly easy to maintain. I do prefer the rechargeable shavers a lot more than the battery charged ones just because it's friendlier for the environment but I'd recommend this shaver to anyone looking to buy.
