The Fanny and Face towel was bought for me for my last birthday by a friend who saw them for sale and thought they were very funny. While they are funny, I also couldn't help but think they were also quite practical and a good idea. I don't know how much she paid for them, but I have seen them online for £14.99 from www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk - which I think is quite a high price for a novelty item, but equally I would be willing to pay that amount because of the practical element.
The towel is a baby pink and white in colour. The top half of the towel is white with the word "FACE" stitched in baby pink, and the bottom of the towel is pink with the word "FANNY" stitched in white. It is a good size for a bath towel and measures 65cm x 115cm. It is certainly large enough for me to wrap around myself when I get out of the shower - and covers all of my "bits"! Although I guess the idea is to use the top half of the towel for your face and the bottom half for your nether regions, I have to say that I never use it in this way and I simply use it as an ordinary towel - but I do maintain that it is a good idea in terms of hygiene (I'm obviously not very hygienic!!).
The towel is fluffy and is very nice and soft and comfortable to snuggle into. When I have "towel time" which involves laying on my bed reading a book after a bath / shower, this towel is nice to have wrapped around me. However, in terms of absorbency, it could be better. Because it is so soft it doesn't have that roughness which I feel is needed for a towel to dry really well (which I think is why often the cheaper towels are more effective). I would say it's absorbency is mediocre.
The towel is machine washable and can also go in the tumble dryer. It does wash well and it hasn't become bubbly or frayed with repeated use and washing. So far I've owned it for about 4 months and it still looks as good as new.
Overall, this is a cute novelty item that has a practical element to it also.
You know how it is - you get out of the shower, all fresh and clean, and begin vigorously drying yourself off with a towel, only to dry your face and think 'Hope I didn't use this bit on my bits!'
You don't ? Well, me neither. This was a novelty gift I received from my parents at Christmas - a colour coordinated towel in pink and white . White towel with the word 'face' in pink at one end, the other end pink with the word 'fanny' in white. It's very simple to figure out how it works really!
The towel is quite a nice size, 64 cm x 114 cm, and is very soft and fluffy to the touch, although it is quite thin . The stitching around the lettering is good and secure, and even after having had this for a long time and washed it a lot ( it washed easily in the machine and never loses its softness), it shows no signs of coming apart.
With that said, it isn't the best towel for drying off after a shower - it's not very absorbant, and because it is quite thin, it gets wet very quickly, so that you sort of seem to be spreading the wetness around rather than getting dry a lot of the time . It is a good size for wrapping around you as you get out of the bath though, and is lightweight enough to work reasonably well as a hair turban!
There is some good logic behind the towel - colour coordinating towels and keeping face and body towels is a good idea from a hygeine standpoint, and the fact that this towel is bright pink clearly shows that it is mine and prevents my boyfriend from pinching it for drying himself. However, I do think the main purpose of the towel is as a novelty - and it certainly raises a few eyebrows when people come to visit, with a couple of people asking where I got it .
I also rather dislike the word fanny. It's a horrible sounding word - perhaps they could have used a nicer sounding word, such as 'muff' or 'chuff' .
Overall, this is a fun little novelty present, although in terms of actual functionality as a towel it isn't that great at getting me dry. It is available in many places online, and there is also a brown and white Arse/Face towel available for men. The cheapest price I have found online is £7.34, but do shop around for the best price .
Overall, a fun little novelty that sadly isn't as good at the practical side of things .
