Philips Senseo ... bought my machine a few years ago as I have always had the habit of not wanting to get up in the morning then not having time to boil the kettle etc. The machine uses coffee pods, you can buy both the Douwe Egbert s ones or the generic shops own. Once it has heated the amount of water needed at the touch of a button the coffee is made by passing the hot water through the coffee pod. Whilst it has a fairly large water tank it only heats the water it needs to hence it can save energy. Gaggia GD One W ... have used this machine for a little over a year now at work in the shop where I work. We are not a cafe, so we don t sell huge amounts of hot drinks each day - about 15-20 drinks on average, and this machine was recommended for our amount of use. The machine is not plumbed in, so would be suitable for home use as well - there is just a hose pipe that drains out into a sink. The Gaggia machines have a great reputation, and I can understand why. The machine just looks gorgeous - it is finished in a stylish metallic red, and has a kind of retro feel about it. Elta EM 110 ... machine is German and looks about as good as those costing twice as much. It arrived within five days and had simple, clear instructions. It has single and double shot filters as well as one for pods. A steam outlet froths milk very well. Since it arrived I have not resorted to instant coffe at all. It is quick and easy. The expresso is very good and it makes super cappuccino. Twin outlets allow for two cups to be made at one go and it takes a good amount of water in the neat and easy to use reservoir.
