Gaggia Classic Coffee ... have had Coffee Gaggia espresso machine for the past 23 years! This the predecessor to the Classic and looks identical in every way but color. On average I have used it almost every day for those 23 years and only last month did it need servicing. They replaced an internal fuse and replaced the 23 year old group gasket. It is now back home and brews perfect shots every time. I would absolutely recommend this machine as an incredibly durable workhorse and a quality machine. I will give it less than 5 stars for ease of use, because I find myself playing with the texture of my grind. It turns out this is my fault. Krups Espresso F893 ... got this espresso machine as a wedding present, but know that it retailed at the time at £150.00. I wanted a good coffee maker, but not something that would be very costly. I (and my wife!) are both very happy with the quality of the coffee from this machine. The machine produces a very nice crema on the espresso and does not burn the coffee grind as so many of the big machines do in large chain coffee shops. This produces a much less bitter coffee and obviously it is the coffee grind itself that creates the different flavours, I believe that this machine helps produce a smooth filtered blend. Philips Senseo ... have been using Senseo s for a couple of years now both in the UK and France. It is simple to use, reliable and produces excellent results. A particular advantage is that it uses one of the cheaper type of coffee pods available in the shops. If ou go to France you might find the coffee pods are a lot cheaper as well (euro rate permitting) It only heats the water needed to operate and is quick to start from cold. it is quite possible to make several cups that you can all drink together rather than just one person at a time.
