      Very helpful

A great coffee machine, for great coffee, but with quite a few drawbacks.

I received this Coffee Machine as a Christmas present, and in all honesty, I wasn't thrilled, as I was far more used to making my own customised coffee machine.

The machine is relatively compact, and doesn't take up a large amount of room - also, it has a sleek, professional black finish, so it looks good in the kitchen. However, little things like fingerprints show up on it frequently, and the milk frother is hard to clean, even with the recommended descaler.
On the John Lewis website (where it retails at £139.95, which I consider quite a high price for what you get), it claims to be able to 'create an authentic Italian Coffee Shop experience at home'
To a large extent, I agree with this statement - the coffee tasted great, (although it was closer to lukewarm than piping hot) and very professional, though the process behind it was a little more complicated.

It takes a while just to turn on, which could be a problem, and then making the coffee takes another 5 minutes. The coffee spout does drip a little after it's made the coffee, but this is a minor criticism. The machine gives you the option of a small or large cup of coffee, though I found there was little difference between them.

The instructions were very easy to follow, but they didn't explain much about what to do if the machine malfunctions, which it has done a few times.

The machine doesn't take ground coffee - you have to buy Lavazza coffee capsules (which come in a few different flavours) which retail at between £3 and £5, and are available at most Tescos and Waitrose (and most likely a few more major supermarkets).
