SueMagee SueMagee There is no screw attachment for the panarello - it simply slips onto the metal tube. It may be that you have a different or later model. 07/05/07
Pilli Pilli I meant to type: I am NOW making flat whites to the high standard of city cafes... 06/05/07
Pilli Pilli The review by Sue Magee contains misinformation - re-read the manual, the thing that 'fell off' when frothing the milk (the panarello attachment) is meant to be screwed onto the metal tube; there is a screw at the top of that plastic attachment. BTW, many people say the panarello attachement is useless anyway, you can safely leave it off.
This machine makes great cafe quality, true italian style espresso. I am no making flat whites to the hight standard I expect in a good city cafe (NOT starbucks, YUK!), from a top line commercial espresso machine. It is heavy and well built, and not for the fient hearted or weak of constitution! There is a message in the packaging: Not intended for operation without supervison by children or INFIRM PERSONS. The same sort of thing you could say about a cafe machine, great coffee but you better be ready to learn how to use it first! Take the time to read the manual properly and it will be fine.

It has been 2 days and I've made about 5 ok coffees before I made really good ones, but I am very happy and have had no trouble with cleaning the machine or it's operations! I would take some care with the grind of your coffee, as too course a grind will not give your brew enough crema or heat.

Master+Russ Master Russ Dammit, I've just ordered one of these because my Morphy Richards Roma is so unreliable....
So, great review, even if I am going to stick my fingers in my ears and ignore you! LA LA LA LA....!!

thegarleon thegarleon have to agree with you. My mum had one of these and took it back because it leaked boiling water! Very good review. gar 25/11/05
GaFin GaFin I bought this model recently and have had constant problems with the ground coffee being so wet after the espressing process. The grinds and fillter hold the water instead of running through to the cup. None of the problem solving hints work.

Is this a "feature" of this machine...... or just me?

Kukana Kukana Goodness me, it sounds terrifying. I'll have to ensure I never make even the faintest suggestion that I might like an espresso machine to my husband! Not that he would buy one at that price, but then again if the top one has so many problems, a cheaper one would probably be even worse. I'll stick with filter coffee, I think. Sue 18/07/05
litefoot litefoot I'm not a coffee drinker but good review. :) 17/07/05
Sarah_Louise Sarah_Louise Hello! Thought I'd give Dooyoo another go to see what its like these days. Good to see you're still here! :) 12/07/05
spangle359 spangle359 Great review, very comprehensive and very useful....I am looking to buy an expresso maker atm, but think I might just avoid this one...thanks, caroline:) 07/07/05
chrisandmark chrisandmark Thanks for mentioning the space this coffee machine takes up, when I was Ciaoing I bought a Phillips coffee maker on the strength of one review which said how compact it was. Only thing they forgot to mention was the huge motor on the back of the machine which meant it couldn't sit flush against the wall. One disappointed coffee lover. :O( 07/07/05
Foxy-Lady Foxy-Lady I usually love coffee but the smell alone makes me gag at the moment :o( 06/07/05
jillmurphy jillmurphy I think I'll stick with strong filter then! My cafetiere sounds much easier! And less noisy. (You're right: it's not too bad!) 06/07/05
sweary sweary PS I think I'm going to go live in Germany with MALU, she has a decent baker in town and all, what with good coffee, good cakes and bread and good looking waiters at her disposal she's pretty much set don't you reckon.

Cheers

Sweary!

sweary sweary I have an expresso machine which I bought in a car boot sale for £5.00 - I don't know how much it cost originally... I don't use it often because it's a monumental phaff but it is nice and quiet. It's made by Krupps but it's not as Krap as the £5.00 price tag might make it sound!

Cheers

Sweary.

Nibelung Nibelung Hi Sue, long time no read. Yes, despite also looking the part being all stainless steel and other shiny bits, our Morphy Richards version is not without its quirks too, like it's impossible to get a reasonable sized jug under the steam lance - I know, I'll use a breadboard a la Magee. Espresso doesn't seem to be an 'all-day' coffee, so we tend to make a kind of filter coffee, by letting both nozzles of the filter go into one large cup and top up with hot water.

Nominated for one of those pointy things.

Let me know if you find out what the bit of plastic is for!

MagdaDH MagdaDH That's why I daon't drink cofee at home: I only like one from such a machine, but they always looked scary to me. The nozzle coming off seems like a real problem, I would contact the manufacturer about it. 05/07/05
MALU MALU I go to an Italian coffee bar in our town, there they have the real thing and good-looking waiters! 05/07/05
freediveheaven freediveheaven Top review nominated. Can't believe the price of this. 05/07/05
mouette mouette £250! I got a coffee maker from Starbucks of all places that is easy to use, works well, and makes good coffee - and it only cost £65. 05/07/05
SueMagee SueMagee Right now I'd do you a swap! 05/07/05
raehippychick raehippychick I've always rather hankered after one of these - but not anymore! Doesn't sound worth the money really. I'll stick with my cafetiere and my good old cheapie espresso machine 05/07/05
