Advantages: Good smooth taste
Disadvantages: Noisy
I got this espresso machine as a wedding present, but know that it retailed at the time at £150.00. I wanted a good coffee maker, but not something that would be very costly. I (and my wife!) are both very happy with the quality of the coffee from this machine. The machine produces a very nice crema on the espresso and does not burn the coffee grind as so many of the big machines do in large chain coffee shops. This produces a much less bitter coffee and obviously it is the coffee grind itself that creates the different flavours, I believe that this machine helps produce a smooth filtered blend.
The bad points would be the noise. I have only had one coffee maker prior to this one and it was pretty much silent - when you turn this one on it sounds like a aeroplane is taking off! Obviously this does not mean that the coffee is in any way inferior, but the noise is somewhat off putting. Finally, I do like a strong cup of coffe and find that I have to use the 'double espresso' filter head at all times.
Overall though I would recommend this coffee maker, as it is not overally expensive, but produces a nice cuppa!
Summary: Good not too expensive but noisy machine

- 25/01/09 I am also an ex barista and I am of the opinion that a lot of coffee shops do burn the coffee, this does cause a more bitter taste, as the coffee then gives off a more bitter taste.
No steam jug with it, yes, you do get a single head, but I though I made it clear that i felt it wasn't strong enough.
Frother is easy to use and is heat protected.
It is not exactly heavy to lift - it is a small coffee maker, but it is sturdy enough not to fall over when using.

- 22/01/09 Welcome to Dooyoo. A good start here. For the benefit of buyers it would be good to know other factors such as:
Is it heavy to lift/does it need to stay in one place?
General water capacity?
Easy to use frother? Is it heat protected?
General cleaning
Assuming you get a double head with it, do you also geta single head with it and any other accessories such as a steam jug?
Ex barista, I find that most commercial shops don't burn coffee - the reason its bitter is because its the blend - commercial machines produce espresso at low temperatures generally. If you update your review please message me.
