I had my eye on a nespresso machine for sometime and was excited when I came across this one. It's red casing matching the theme of my kitchen perfectly! In addition it was thankfully one of the cheaper nespresso machines out there.
In terms of appearance it has the sleek sophistication that you see with most nespresso machines, the fire engine red casing adding to this with some added uniqueness. The front and bottom black and silver to highlight the red. It has a relatively small footprint so fits perfectly on an already busy kitchen counter top. It is not only about 3-4inches wide and maybe 12inches in length. It is relatively light as well if you need to store it out of sight, but I think the coolness of it makes you want to have it on show. It needs to be plugged in and the cord is reasonably long for a kitchen appliance to allow so flexibility on placement.
To operate is a simple and easy process, you just unhook the water container, fill at the tap and then replace-if you fill it to the top it lasts a good few cups. Then you just select our nepresso capsule, lift lid at front nod slot it in, choose our coffee type and 30 seconds later you have a cup of coffee to drink. The quality of which matches a barista in my opinion.
The machine offers two coffee options- espresso or lungo (effectively a double espresso) with each nespresso capsule recommending which coffee option works best which each.
To operate the machine you need to purchase capsules which contain the coffee- these as far as I am aware need to be from nespresso. This can be quite expensive but I am impressed with the quality of coffee. When I purchased the machine I recieved a voucher for the nespresso store which allowed me to sample the various coffees. They have a wide range including decaf options, differing strengths and those best suited to a lungo. I heard flavoured coffees are also on the way- including chocolate. Also, when I registered with nespresso club I received a lovely catalog detailing all the types of coffee through the post. Sadly they don't have a store in Scotland so I haven't been able to browse all the nespresso add ons as I would like.
Cleaning the machine is easy, used capsules are easily removed and clear instructions for maintaining the machine are included. The capsules can be recycled- bags are provided for this and uplifted from free by courier.
This does not automatically come with a milk frother as other machines do. However, if you are a loyal latte drinker you can buy an additional attachment to gain this function.
Overall, although this was quite an expensive purchase, I love having good quality coffee available to me at the click of button, without any wait time or fuss. I do wish the capsules were cheaper but it is still more economical than a Starbucks!
I would recommend this machine to any coffee lover.
