Guizzini In Fusion 3-cup Multishaker

WHAT IS IT?
A beautifully designed glass and acrylic cafetiere, marketed as being just as good for loose tea as ground coffee.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
It's an excellent cafetiere, I've used it both for tea and coffee with great results every time. I don't use it often but that's only because it's a small ... cafetiere, once full it holds a mug and a half of coffee or tea and that's not enough even when it's just me on my own.
The design is the main draw for this cafetiere, the acrylic handle and lid give it an ultramodern look but it works very well too. I'd never before tried making tea in a cafetiere but I have made my husband several cups from this one and he has said how fresh it tastes compared to using a teabag. Using loose tea you add a number of spoons of tea to the jug, top up with boiling water and allow to brew before plunging down as you would when making a pot of coffee. It obviously doesn't smell as good as brewing coffee but for a tea drinker like my husband the smell is as much part of the drinking experience as my richer coffee aroma is.
The mesh at the bottom of the plunger keeps the coffee and tea away from your hot drink, this makes it an even better bet than using a teapot as you never end up with tea leaves floating in your tea or in the bottom of the cup. The jug is made of thick glass to keep your drinks warmer for longer and a sharply pronounced spout makes for a smooth pour with no dripping, something about the design causes the first pour to splash quite badly but once you're used to this it stops being something you notice.
Considering the complete transparency of the cafetiere it is surprisingly easy to keep clean, as long as you empty it out and rinse as soon as you've used it there will be no staining and it will keep its sparkly new look. It is not dishwasher safe but easily cleaned manually.

Presso Espresso Maker
by jonsallines
I received this coffee maker as a wedding present and was a little dubious at first as i have always used a cafetiere when i've wanted a special cup of coffee, otherwise i've always just used instant granules.
Most importantly you have to remember, the better the coffee beans you use, the better the coffee! Sounds obvious, but ... i have read a few negative reviews regarding the taste of the coffee? Surely the machine is to aid you in making the coffee and the ingredients are what decide the taste?
Anyway, i was surprised by how easy it was to use. As a coffee machine newbie i managed quite easily! I researched a little on the web to fully understand the best way to grind and also discovered how to 'tamp'!! Which is how well you compact the coffee, which has a massive impact on the quality of your expresso.
I love this product, it is so easy and quick to use i have ditched the instant coffee completely. The design is lovely and looks very smart sat on my kitchen side. Also it is very sturdy and seems like it will last a very long time. Another positive is the price (i didn't pay for mine as it was a gift) but i would certainly consider buying this as a special present for somebody. Read the complete review |

Presso Espresso Maker

Where and how much?
Amazon! another of my favourite sites! I paid £69 for it in the sale. I think it's usually about £79.
Who is it suited for?
The Presso is a very innovative coffee machine, primarily for the coffee expresso lover. For yourself, or as a gift, it makes for a great treat or present. ... Its light and compact so fits anywhere and everywhere. Its great for taking away with you if you go travelling. Never be without it! (as long as you have something to boil water with) It features a single or double spout, milk frother (yum!) and of course full instructions! If you enjoy expresso, it's definately the machine to buy! The simple pumping action means you supply the pressure. No need for the use of electricity! It's therefore very eco-friendly and easy to service. The coffee tastes very nice and i've never had a burnt flavoured taste like some seem to have reported. I would say the coffee stays hot for about an hour, which is great as it means I get to have a cuppa once i've finished faffing around getting ready for work.
Are there any negatives?
The supplied milk frother is good, but not as good as a pump driven machine.
It's good, but its not hugely versatile.
Don't add tooooooo much coffee. I did this once and it ended up very lumpy (blurgh) Read the complete review |
