Advantages: Fast, Mess Free

Disadvantages: Size of portion

My boyfriend hassled me for most of the run up to Christmas last year...'can we put this on our xmas list?, please can we put this on our xmas list, please please' .......well you get the idea.

These babies were retailing at £69.99 at the time so I said no way but on Christmas eve his dad turned up having won one in his work raffle.

The packaging was secure and served its purpose (as boxes tend to do) and the instructions were clearly laid out and in several (I think 8) different languages.

All in all I think this an ingenius piece of equipiment. You don't have to faff around with spoons of ground coffee and fiddle with washing out your caffatiere afterwards, just pop in a pod and you're off.

Two cups of coffee can be made at a time, when I say two cups I mean two coffee cups, not two mugs....I can't remember the last time I saw the size of cup I mean apart from in a coffee shop but we're talking double espresso size. I personally go for quantity in all matters caffienated so I stick one of my mugs under the nozzle without any milk and press two cups, this fills the cup perfectly but only leaves space for a dash of milk which isn't to everyone's liking.

My one niggle is that when the water heats up the whole thing sounds like it's about ready to launch into space, the first time I used it i thought something was going to blow, it's much louder than the kettle! I'm informed the noise is only with our particular machine and in all honesty it isn't unbearable but my man is particularly sensitive abot the level of noise coming from the kitchen while he's watching Eastenders.

Down to the actual drink though, you can buy quite a good range from DE (decaf, rich mild, etc) and the price is reasonable about £2 for 18 pods although you can usually find huge reductions on ebay. It's like drinking freshly ground beans without the effort of grinding them but be warned though, other baged coffee does not work!! I tried another brand and water leaked out everywhere!!

If you're in the Guildford area drop me a line and I will make you a cuppa! xx

I really wanted a Senseo for ages but they seem soooo inflexible - what happens if I run out of *their* specific pods and want a mug not a cup?

I've wanted one of these for ages but can't find the black one anywhere :-(
