Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss
by Sarmac86
I bought my first Pure Color lip gloss as a treat to myself and quickly became hooked! I own four different shades - Simply pink (nude pink), peach sizzle (nude peach with a little sparkle), passion fruit (coral with sparkle) and pink kiss (a more pigmented pink). The colour range is great, with the sparkly shades having just a touch of ... shimmer (not too Barbie doll-esque) and the non-sparkly shades having a lovely shiny finish without looking like you have a face full of jam!
The packaging is very chic and sophisticated - a transparent tube which allows you to see your chosen shade, and a gold lid which twists to pull out the applicator. The applicator is very long with a soft slightly slanted tip which allows precise application and ease of use.
The packaging is almost worth the premium price alone, and having this product in my handbag makes me feel quite expensive! However, the product itself is also very difficult to fault. The instant the gloss touches your lips you get a hit of soothing moisture, and then a lovely scent (slightly sweet but not overpowering). My worst nightmare is a sticky lip gloss with a sickly scent, so this is an absolute dream! There is no tackiness whatsoever, and rubbing your lips together after the gloss is applied has an almost silky feel to it. This gloss is so moisturising that it is the only lip gloss I have found that I do not need to apply lip balm before it. It almost acts as a lip balm itself, and I find that not only does it work on dry lips without the need for other products, but it actually soothes and relieves chapped lips on its own.
The pigmentation of all the shades I own is spot on. The pinky colours give a nice tone without completely covering your natural lip colour, the nude peach is very versatile and complements a more natural look or a bold smoky eye, while the coral adds a pop of colour which suits even my very fair complexion. The shades are quite buildable, and have a sheerness to them, so they are never too overpowering. There is quite a good range of bolder shades available too, although I have never dared venture towards these! The staying power is also very impressive, with the gloss lasting through at least a couple of drinks. However, even if the gloss has only budged slightly i find myself wanting to apply more as it is just so lovely to use!
This is by far the best lip gloss I have found, in terms of moisturisation it is unbeatable, and the feel and scent are well worth the cost. This is an absolute staple in my make up bag and I shall continue to add to my collection! Read the complete review |

Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lifting Eye Cream
by Doglovers
I have used many different eye creams , but never discovered one that suited me perfectly.
Just before Christmas 2011 I decided to invest in the Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate lifting cream. I say invest because this is currently £85 for 15ml!
ReNutriv is at the premium end of The Estee Lauder range and within this ... there are several sub ranges one of which is the Ultimate Lifting. This claims to lift, firm and perfect your skin's appearance to an astonishing degree, with advanced lifting technologies and potent ingredients.
So it sounded just the ticket , given I need help around the eye area.
The Product
This range is beautifully packaged in a box and which contains a small grey pot and you definitely feel like you are getting something special.
According to the blurb this is an utra luxurious ultra powerful cream that will intensely hydrate and lift firm and perfect your skins appearance like never before.
The cream is white and despite all the hype in the description it just looks like a typical eye cream. It is dermatologist and ophthalmologist-tested and non-acnegenic
Application
I take a very small amount - pea size and apply by lightly patting underneath the eye on the orbital bone and then continue patting on the bone above the eye ( just underneath the eyebrow). I try not to apply too much as overloading product can cause problems around the eye area as the skin is so sensitive . The skin around the eye is very thin and my eyes are quite sensitive so using a small amount and patting on does not cause me any issues.
The results
The cream feels really nice on my skin, it is a light creamy texture and it does not irritate my eyes. It isn't greasy like a lot of eye creams and absorbs well into my skin.
The skin around my eyes feel and looks more hydrated but I am still waiting for the lifting and perfecting that they claim will result from using this.
I don't have dark circles but I have deep laughter lines in the corners of my eye , plus I have redness in the corners. I expected some results but if there have been any they must not be discernible to the human eye. So I sill have lines and redness, but my eyes feel more comfortable and hydrated.
Would I Recommend
Not really , this is an £85 eye cream that simply moisturises the eye area, results I could get from a much cheaper cream. Most premium creams that target anti ageing do change the appearance of your skin, even if it is only temporary, this one does not even do that.
I am very disappointed as I expected great things from this cream and although it is a nice cream, for me it does not warrant the price tag.
The positives are it does hydrate and doesn't irritate my eye area plus it lasts at least 6 months as you need to use so little. But I bought this because it claimed to lift and perfect and that I would see improvement from the first application.
I used this for 6 months and did not get the promised results not even on a temporary basis, plus I still have redness at the outer corner of my eyes.
This cream also claims to make a difference to dark circles and puffiness, something I don't have so I can't comment on how effective it is.
Maybe I have got the wrong type of ageing skin , you know like the wrong type of snow excuse they make when our transport networks grind to a halt.
I paid £72 for mine in December 2011 which I think included a 10% discount , the price is now £85.
Estee Lauder is widely available on the high street and online. I bought mine from John Lewis. Read the complete review |

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation
by gayle04
I bought this foundation for the first time about 4 years ago after having trouble with acne scarring on my chin. I found that most other foundations just weren't covering the red marks, or if they were covering them when I initially put the foundation on, they weren't any more after a day at work!
I wanted something which ... would give good coverage, but more importantly, something that would last all day and would look as good after a day at work as it did when I put it on in the morning. I can't hand on heart say that this is the case with double wear, however it does last longer than any other foundation I have tried, and the coverage is great, especially if you build it up.
I buy this in the colour called "shell", although I have a feeling that the name of this shade has changed recently. It is the lightest shade available and as I have very pale skin, it is important for me that make up doesn't look orangey when it is on. I can happily say that this isn't the case with double wear, it is well and truly made for us pale girls and won't try to sneakily add some colour to your skin!
The texture of the foundation is quite thick, and it can be a bit of a pain to get out when you are getting towards the bottom of a bottle. I have heard that you can buy a pump from Mac which works with this bottle, I haven't tried it yet but it sounded like a good idea. It would be more user friendly if you could just "pump" out the right amount rather than having to tip the bottle and hope that loads doesn't come gushing out.
The one negative point about this foundation is that it quite drying - I think it would be best on normal or oily skin but when I have dry skin in the winter, I can't use this on certain parts of my face as it really highlights the dry skin and makes things worse. When this is the case, I tend to just use a BB cream on my face and then add this anywhere that needs some extra coverage.
I have bought this several times now so it must be good, generally I like to try new products but I haven't found another one that matches up to this for coverage and "lastibility"! Read the complete review |
