Advantages: Works wonders on the skin underneath my eyes, reduces puffiness
Disadvantages: Very expensive
When my good friend visited last year from New York she came bearing gifts, as she always does. My granddaughters' were spoilt with the wonderful character merchandise available in the US and this year she really pushed the boat out and bought me a glorious gift set of Estee Lauder items. One item in the gift set was this eye mask, or Cyber Cool Bright Soothing Eye Mask to give it it's full title.
These are basically pre-soaked fabric eye masks which come sealed individually in sachets for freshness. They are shaped to fit comfortably underneath the eye and will cling to the skin comfortably for the duration of your pampering session.
My first impression was that the mask pads were going to be a little too wet and would irritate me, however I soon realised that the fact they are so moist makes them extremely cooling and refreshing in use and this effect continues for hours afterwards.
They smell very medicinal, which I think is a feature of many Estee Lauder products, but this doesn't linger for long and I was left with a pleasant 'fresh' aroma as the pads worked their magic.
The results were almost immediate. At my age the skin around the eyes becomes very thin and all the cucumber slices in the world won't bring back the youthful elasticity. However, after using these eye masks I was impressed at how reduced the 'bags' under my eyes were and the thin skin seemed much more soft and supple. My skin also felt extremely moisturised and nourished after use, with this feeling lasting for the entire day and through the following day.
The appearance of my eyes was greatly improved. The mask seemed to brighten the skin under my eyes which is sometimes very dull due to my bouts of insomnia, it obviously doesn't have the magical results of Touch Eclait but I can certainly see a big difference in both the appearance and feel of my under eyes.
There was absolutely no irritation to my skin either during or after using these pads, I had thought the soapy texture of them might make them feel too slippery to be comfortable but this wasn't a problem for me in the slightest and after a minute or two I actually forgot they were even there!
Having a quick look at the blurb that seems to fill these very small sachets tells me that the pads are enriched with Rice Bran and 'micro-minerals from Glacial Milk', as well as effective anti-oxidant and anti-irritants. Now, those mean very little to me although I have been able to ascertain that Rice Bran is very popular for cookery and contains vitamins that may prevent heart problems - although how this helps in an eye mask is completely beyond me.
Now for the price. Being Estee Lauder you would expect the price to be high, but when I tell you that ten of these pads cost over £27 from www.strawberrynet.com you may just fall off your chair! Personally I do think they are worth this money as the refreshment they provide is fantastic and they do knock years off the appearance of the skin under my eyes - it's just a shame they can't do one that covers my whole face (and body!)!
Summary: A fantastic eye mask from Estee Lauder that I was happy to receive as a Christmas present.
