Advantages: Sorts out problem skin, leaves you with a soft face
Disadvantages: Cost!
*Introduction*
I decided to buy this product after a recommendation from a friend who swears by it. I am 21 and I have combination skin which is prone to redness around the nose, dry patches on my forehead, blackheads on my nose and occasional spots and dry patches on the rest of my face. I bought Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher on ebay for £30, in a gift box which also contained Micro D, Deep Thermal Refinisher and Refinishing Eye Serum. If you use all these three together it is supposed to enhance their effectiveness.
The product promises to renew your skin leaving it soft and smooth to touch by 'freeing the skin of flakiness and roughness, softening fine lines and making pores seem smaller', by getting rid of all the dead skin cells that build up on your face.
You are meant to apply the product every morning and evening, after you cleanse but before you moisturise.
*Price and Packaging*
I find this product to be very expensive if bought directly from Estee Lauder. According to the website, the pricing is as follows: £29 - 30ml, £45 - 50ml.
The bottle is really pretty and looks very classy. The colour is a silvery light blue with the Estee Lauder gold logo and writing along the bottom. The bottle is a distinct shape, at the bottom it is triangular and at the top it is circular and wider. The product comes out of a small pump at the top.
*Product & Application*
The product is white and feels very silky smooth and very light in consistency meaning it won't make your skin greasy. It absorbs very quickly and smells heavenly, not too strong or distinct. Because of the price I found myself using less than I should do so that I don't have to go and buy another bottle, but you don't need too much of the product on each application and I use slightly less product than I would use of moisturiser.
The end result was impressive. The effects are instant, it smoothed my skin over making it a great base for make-up. A few hours after first application my skin was glowing and looked really healthy. I was still left with dry skin on my forehead though, so for stubborn problem areas I recommend using more of the product. After using this product for a week, it did even out my skin tone and all the red marks on my face were more or less gone. My pores were definitely smaller overall and I had less blackheads. Over time, I also noticed that I was getting spots less often! After using this product for a couple of weeks, my skin is now really soft all the time!
*Overall Impression*
The price is what puts most people off this product, but it is worth investing in if you have problem skin and find that other products don't really help you. It gives your skin a gorgeous glow, gets rid of flakiness and red blotches and, if you have young skin like me, will keep spots at bay!
Summary: If you've got the money, definitely go for it!
