Advantages: Great silky smooth skin, Gets rid of shine, open pores, flaky skin
Disadvantages: The hideous price!
I’ve always had this image in my head of Estee Lauder producing the type of products your Mum would buy. However, after years of rebellion, I’ve now seen the light and realised that maybe Mum does know best after all! After stealing a free sample of the Idealist Skin Refinisher from my friend’s glamour magazine (it’s not like she’ll ever know!), I have become hooked on this wonder stuff! ---What does it do?--- Estee Lauder claim that this product will rid your skin of flakiness, redness, blotchiness and shine and also improve the skin’s natural moisture level creating a smoother, more even look. ---The science behind it--- Concentrate now! The lotion apparently contains sugar derived refinishers which speed up the natural shedding cycle of the skin, ensuring that dead cells don’t sit on the surface making the skin dull and lifeless., thus creating a more even tone to the skin and ridding you of your problem skin. It also contains green tea extracts to soothe the skin, anti-oxidants to protect the skin from nasty city pollution, and a whole range of vitamins to condition and strengthen the skin. ---About the product--- The lotion is packaged in a cute little light green bottle (available in either 30ml size or 50ml) which looks much classier than my usual potions. It has a dispenser style top which is sensitive enough so that you don’t waste gallons of the cream. It is designed to be used after cleansing and before moisturising. I find that this is light enough to still use a moisturiser after but in all honesty, I don’t think that it’s strictly necessary- you could easily get away with using this alone. The lotion itself is a rather suspect looking white/creamy, slightly transparent liquid. The texture is incredibly light and it is not at all gunky or greasy. It has a lovely floral scent to it with a slight fruit undertone and is absorbed into
the skin incredibly quickly. ---The Results--- As soon as you apply the lotion you can feel the difference! Honestly, I just couldn’t stop touching my face it was so silky smooth and I was so impressed by it that I went straight out that very day and bought it! While I don’t suffer from flakiness, blotches or redness, I did find that there was a noticeable reduction in the shine and my skin looked far more matte. My pores were also much tighter and my whole face just had this lovely glow to it. I can imagine that this would be a fantastic anti-ageing product and is definitely one that I will be using when I get a little older. ---The Price--- There had to be a catch didn’t there? I really can’t believe how much this costs (although bargain conscious me bought it on holiday where it was much cheaper!). It retails at around £30 for 30ml and £42 for 50ml (and trust me, the 30ml bottle is tiny!). Luckily you only need to use the tiniest of amounts to see the results (and frankly you’d be mad to use more at this price!) and, despite the price, I would happily recommend this to everyone as it is the best skin product I’ve ever tried! Just look out for free samples in magazines or find somewhere that sells Estee Lauder products (Boots, House of Fraser, Sephora) and get them to give you a free sample- I always find they're more than happy to help! I guarantee you'll be impressed! The only problem is, my bottle's just run out and there's no way I can afford a new one!

- 01/05/03 I quite agree, it does feel amazing, but I think it's worth the money because you need so little and you can really see the results. And as the ad says you're worth it!
(Also by now it's becoming a necessity!!) |

- 22/04/03 You read like an extended teeniebop skincare commercial. Your energy for the product (along with natural zest) is felt and this review provided a smile and a delightful read. Excellent. |

- 21/04/03 I really believe that where this sort of thing is concerned, you get what you pay for! I like Lancome but might give this a try sometime. :) |
