Advantages: Good cover, lasts ages, feels good
Disadvantages: Price
Why is it I find it so hard to find something to write about? I haven’t written for ages and feel I must otherwise you will think I’ve vanished off the face of Dooyoo! I prefer to write about personal experiences but have just come across the make-up I use, and have to share it, so here we go! I have used Estee Lauder Lucidity for about two and a half years. Estee Lauder is one of the largest marketers and manufactures of make up, good quality stuff too! Estee Lauder do not test their products on animals – which is perfect. Their other brands include Clinique, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, the company is also the beauty products licensee for fashion designers like Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger and Kate Spade. Quite a reputation! Finding the right foundation for me was a job, at school I had quite a few orange friends, or people with lines of colour along their jaw line, they had completely the wrong colour and coverage. You know you’ve found the right foundation when you can’t see or feel it. It will blend in to your own skin tone and colour. Lucidity is a light-diffusing make up, they have pigments in that reflect the light away from fine lines and wrinkles, unfortunately, I cannot confirm this as at 23 I can honestly say I don’t have any fine lines or wrinkles (not rubbing it in either!) One thing that I don’t like is heavy make-up, I used to use the Estee Lauder Enlightening which was a very light covering, I soon moved to the Lucidity, coverage was better and evened out my skin colour, as I have pale skin and freckles (which I hate) Lucidity conceals them slightly, not too much, just enough. Lucidity has a medium coverage with a very natural finish, I use Estee Lauder’s Lucidity Translucent powder to finish off the look. You can use Lucidity if you have Normal/oily, Normal/dry skin. Lucidity also protects the skin with SPF8, I do have fair skin but this is eno
ugh protection for me in this country! I did by accident once buy the correct colour but in Double Wear, obviously by the sound it was much heavier! It was terrible, I felt I had a facemask on! If I smiled I feared it may crack! I soon took it back and changed for the usual Lucidity 03. I have just bought my second bottle of Lucidity and as usual it was wrong! I guessed the colour and went too pale! I looked like a ghost! Once again I took this back and changed it! The reason I always get this wrong is the bottle usually lasts about a year, when it runs out it never comes to mind to take the bottle with me! Lucidity is quite expensive if you normally get your foundations off the shelf from Boots etc. These usually retail around £5-7. Lucidity however is £19.50. Well worth the price, it lasts a year and does look very good, before I found the Estee Lauder counter I would buy at least three different makes of foundation, cover girl, max factor, No. etc, none were any good and made me look terrible, this turned out to be a lot more expensive than Estee Lauder. I went to the local Cavendish House (House of Fraser) and went to the Estee Lauder counter, I asked the assistant if she could recommend anything and I found her extremely helpful, she talked about the products and we also tried a few out. Before I chose to buy she sent me off with a sample to try, if I liked it I could go and buy it. It goes without saying that the next day I was in there purchasing my first ever bottle and some lose powder. I apply the foundation once a day in the morning and it does last all day. The only time I reapply is if I’m going out in the evening. I was advised to apply with the third finger on my hand, this uses less pressure and will go on nicely (instead of being fat handed and slopping it on all over the place!) I know it looks good, people often ask me if I wear make-up, off course I do!! People are shocked at wh
at I wear, they thought just a little mascara was all I used, I can guarantee that if I went into work one day without it there would be a few more comments – not nice one’s either! If you do have a problem with the coverage or even the colour, you can’t find one that matches, Estee Lauder have another brand name, they are called prescriptives, at this counter they can personally make you up a foundation to your skin tone and the coverage you prefer. To sum up I would say, yes, Estee Lauder’s Lucidity Foundation is more expensive, it does last and it’s more than worth it. I wouldn’t be without it now. If you have never been to one of the make-up counters before I know it can be fairly scary, all those women with piles of make-up on! They are very helpful though and it really is worth it… go on give it a go!

- 06/12/03 Lucidity make up is light but provides decent coverage and doesn't feel like you've got "slap" on. It also gives your skin a lovely natural glow. Wear it when you're going to the makeup counters with those scary red talloned make up counter assistants!! It'll make you look/feel like a model and provides a great base for the rest of your glam eye make up! |

- 02/04/02 Great review. Shame about the lack of orange faces - really makes you stand out from the crowd! |

- 30/03/02 I'm with Jill and the going for the 'spotty look' thing.
I wear a lot of white and I live in fear of leaving the foundation in places other than my face!!
And those make up counter ladies .... they scare me!
