As a keep photographer I was wanting to get a decent backup storage device to not only keep safe backups of my pc and laptop in case of recovery but to store the many gigs of photographs i've taken which were startign to clog up my pc and laptop and got to the point where I couldnt even clear them off memory cards as I had nowhere to store them.

I shopped around and decided to buy this Buffalo Juststore Desktop 1 TB drive.

For me a backup storage space is just that. I know some who use them to develop on and all sorts of stuff but I simply wanted to use it as storage and have everything in one place so I wasn't bothered about massive speed specs or data transfer rates, as long as it held the data safely and it was easy to use I was happy.

I paid £78 from amazon.co.uk and i'm really happy with the purchase.

Amazon delivered quickly and it was well packaged. It was so easy to install to my pc. Simply a power cable to a socket and then the USB cable to the pc. It comes pre-formatted so you don't need to set anything up. My pc recognised the drive straight away and it showed up in 'My Computer' as the next available drive letter.

In use I havent had an issue and i've owned my drive for over a year. I've copied to and from the drive and created numerous backups with no issues at all.

The drive is really quiet with its power saving facility built in which puts it into stanby mode when not in direct use and even when it is being used you can hardly hear it.

I've never been above about 700gig so far so I dont know how it performs when it gets to its limits but up to that point its been fine.

Conclusions

It does what it's suppose to, Quiet, Quick, 1TB of storage, no issues.
