Great drive if you don't care about USB3.0 speeds!

I bought this drive to replace an old drive I had dropped and started to make weird sounds (not so smart of me!). I was attracted by the price (£94.99 at Amazon), the small 11.4x7.7x1.7cm size, the large 1TB capacity and the added bonus of it being USB3.0.

When I unpacked the drive, I was immediately suprised by the small size. It's a lot smaller and thinner than a 3,5 inch drive, I can tell you! I was also pleasantly suprised that the drive connected with just a USB cable, no external power needed! This is great for when you're using a laptop while not at home, because you don't need a power outlet.

The read and write speeds of the drive are higher than an average USB2.0 drive, but the drive can't really keep up with most other USB3.0 drives. I didn't really find this an issue, it was fast enough for watching 1080p movies from it without a problem. Copying to and from the drive can take some time though.

All in all, I don't regret buying this drive. It's really small and light, it looks alright and it doesn't need external power. The speeds are a tad low for a USB3.0 drive, but I didn't find this a problem when watching movies from it. If you don't care about the numbers too much, this drive is a great deal. But check with your PC or notebook first, you won't get everything out of the drive if you don't have a USB3.0 port. The drive works perfectly on a USB2.0 port, but it's a bit slower.
