Recently I bought the amazing wdtv (review coming soon) and I required a hard drive to play all of my media. I have a huge movie collection so I wanted a big drive and after yet another one of my many trips to the eBay website, I bought one for £40 which is a bargain. This one was a Toshiba (of some model I don't know because It never functioned correctly) After reselling it I actually made a profit so I decided to cash in on a new drive, ready to pay up to £100 for one I braced myself, then I found this gem - Buy it now , new , unopened and for only £46.99! So I immediately bought it and awaited its arrival.
When I finally got the item it looked far better than my last drive - a blue light that is not distracting a metal finish and the main thing: it worked! I took my movie collection of 134GB and dragged it onto the drive. I left my computer on for about an hour and was surprised to find that it was done! Yes, this drive is very fast but maybe not so reliable, I need to use chkdsk it quite a lot and often get error messages saying the directory is corrupt and unreadable but that is mainly due to me unplugging it without safely removing it first.
This drive is compatible with the WDTV if you are wondering, but if you get it new you need to format it before you can use it. I have different partitions, in which it holds my wii games, my movies my PS2 games and then a general partition. About 40 wii games, 12 PS2 games and 176 movies only take up about 1/5 of this mammoth drive and It is perfect for me. If you are not a heavy user of a computer this may not be for you, but really when you can pick up one a quarter of the size for the same price in the high street, it really is worth a serious look.
