The Iomega 500 Value Series Desktop HD has a beautiful design. The blue light has a modest shine (not too bright) and looks very cool (metal cabinet in a silver colour).

This device truly is plug and play. My computer accepts this device immediately. This device has FAT32 and you must first format the Iomega hard drive to NFTS (click on the icon of Iomega (in "My Computer") with the right mouse and your computer informs you that this device must formatted to NFTS.

I have copied a movie of 13 gigabytes from my C drive to the Iomega hard drive. It takes about 6.5 minutes (2 gigabytes per minute). I also copied my photos. This took longer (7.5 gigabytes in 11 minutes), but this is because the 7.5 GB is spread over multiple files and therefore it takes a bit longer to be copied. I think that the speed is very well.

The device is NOT noiseless. It makes some soft noise when you copy the files to your Iomega hard drive or if you open the files on your Iomega hard drive. I think this is not disturbing. It gets warm during the period of use. Around 40-50 degrees, so you don't have to worry that you will burn your fingers.

The Iomega500 Value Series Desktop HD is quite heavy and is very solid. It looks like a thick book that can be transported everywhere
