Lacie have done it again, another beautifully simple yet brilliantly functional external hard drive.

A gigantic 1 tb of space for all your most important documents. Lets be honest when it comes to your work then it's crucial that a reliable piece of hardware keeps it from being destroyed.

I chose this particular hard drive for two reasons, one is the stylish slick black finish with the blue strip light underneath. Reason two is the make, Lacie is a well known and reliable make and i have previously had an external hard drive by them and had no problems at all. It is also near silent in its operation which is always nice.

The only down side is that it is a USB interface which personally i feel lets it down in terms of speed for transfer. My personal preference is firewire as it is very quick and for a hard drive of thise size i feel that is important. The plus though is that once the initial backup is complete then it is generally only changed files that need backing up so speed isn't too big an issue.

Overall this is a fantastic piece of hardware that is reliable and has the sort of size of space that will cope with the large files now being created by the latest software.
