The Seagate hard drives are one of the most affordable memeory device you can shopped around especially if browse through Maplin stores as they always run promotions on these gadgetries.I bought the seagate because of its memory capacity and its price.
I bought the Seagate Hardrive because me laptop memory was bulging with anime and asian dramas and I had to search an outlet to transfer my files.
The hardrive does tick all boxes as a storage device. With its sleek design and shap, it easy to connect through a usb cable but still need to be powered through an electric plug for it to work. File transfer speed are twice faster compared to normal Usb drives and there is no installation required. You can also connect to a console device such as the PS3 but you may need to convert to Fat32 (Special Software required) before transferring files.
The only concern about the hard drive is the noise effect as you once you powered it, it made more noise compared to your other devices. It is ideal for office use but for personal uses you may need to have a soundproof place in case you do not want to wake the missuss.
I've been thinking about updating my external hard drive, just so i have another back up drive but also to use as a storage drive on my home network. I wanted something that would have a large storage space, easily managed, reliable and most importantly not cost a fortune. This is where i found the 3TB Seagate Expansion Drive; for just £99.99. A real bargain for so much space so i thought something had to be bad about it.
The hard drive its self is a 3.5" SATA external hard drive however the drive its self is stored in a sleek black outer case with a high speed USB connection. This connection allows for a 480 Mbs average transfer speed.
For a 3TB storage space i was surprised at the lightness of the drive its self. Weighing in at only 1.24kg its rather quite light. I was also surprised at the size; it measured only 12.6cm x 20.8cm x 4cm. This makes it a perfect fit for use on desktops or near your laptop or computer. The enclosure its self is very stylish; carrying a sleek modern black design. This means it's a unisex drive and can be used in any environment and will still not clash.
The drive is easy to use, using a simple plug and play feature so you need simply connect the USB to your laptop or computer and the drive will install its self within a few seconds and will be ready for instant use. When in use its noise pollution is minimal you may hear a slight buzzing sound on the first few start ups of the drive but it soon fades to a nonexistent noise, which allows the user to carry on with their computing without having to drown out the awful noise of a fan spinning inside the drive.
The drive is compatible with all major operating systems including windows xp, Vista. 7 and Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later. So you should have no problems using this drive on your computer or laptop. And finally to top off this product it also comes with a free 2 year manufacturer warranty.
In my opinion this drive is amazing; i'd recommend it to anyone with any high storage needs and will probably end up buying another one of these as a spare back up drive again. I've been using it for the past 2 weeks and its not failed me or let me down and I've been doing huge file transfers onto and off the drive and the speeds still haven't changed. For the £99.99 price tag i highly recommend to anyone they purchase this drive.
Get the storage you need and nothing else. This is the drive for bare-bones capacity.
