Advantages: Sturdy, Portable

Disadvantages: Needs a mains supply.

I bought my Western Digital MyBook hard drive in 2006 and its still going strong nearly four years later!

I don't use this hard drive for backing up my computer's content, instead I use it to store a large amount of film and video content. At first I was concerned that transfer time would be an issue as the connection is only USB rather than firewire, however its always been pretty speedy and I've had no real issues.

The hard drive is very easy to set up and was up and running within minutes of opening the box. It is compact, portable and quite attractive. It matched the laptop I had at the time perfectly, sadly it doesn't go so well with my current Macbook Pro!

One feature I particularly like is that the hard drive is compatible with both macs and pcs and requires no special formatting for either. You can unplug from a mac, plug into a PC and then back into the Mac without any delays.

The best thing about this product though, has been its reliability. Its the longest lasting piece of technology I've owned.

Summary: Reliable bit of hardware, well worth getting.
