Western Digital My Book 750GB External USB Hard Drive (My Book) I previously bought a My Book hard drive for one of my PC's for backing up my documents and media. I bought it from Ebay.co.uk, for around £56.00 it was on deal and was Brand new so I thought I may aswell go for the extra 250GB as the 500GB my book was £50.00 including package and postage. So for an extra Six pounds I got an Extra 250GB which in my opinion was a bargin. The design of the My book has a black glossy finish to it with on the front has a white LED indicator on it to show that the device is on. There is also a power button on the back of the device so if you don't want to have it on. The device is powered by an AC adapter and connects to your device via USB 2.0. There is also a kensington lock port for a bit of saftey. The hard drive inside runs at 7200 rpm which is very fast and there isn't much lag from it. And as my PC only has a 250GB hard drive well then I can use all my itunes library, other media and my important documents on this My Book and when playing music from there isn't a lag from it like other USB devices. The device also comes with a two year warrenty which is an advantage as most external devices only come with 6 months to 1 year warrenty, So I can insure this device will work for a long time. Whats in the Western Digital My Book 750GB External USB Hard Drive box. It also comes with a WD SmartWare Software which is a peice of software saved on the device which lets you make a automatic continuous backup of your files. You can also lock the device with a Password which can come in handy if you dont wan't anyone else to see your personal files that uses the computer that you have the device connected to. Overall Overall this device is non expensive and works great with computers with no lagging or no crashing. I haven't had any problems with this device in the past month. It looks great in your home setup with its glossy finish and it isn't a huge device which means it won't take up a lot of space on the desk. It is great for either home useage or business usage for either streaming your media and documents from if you have a small hard drive in your PC and don't want to open it up to put in a hard drive, or if you are just backing up your PC. I would recommend anyone who wants a bit more memory on there PC or is looking a device to back up there PC to buy a My Book 750GB External Hard Drive.
When it comes to storage media such as hard disks, their price is gradually dropping meaning you can now get more storage space for your money. This is perfectly illustrated by this offering from Western Digital, offering 750GB of storage for under £100.
Western Digital are a trusted brand when it comes to hard disk technology, they have been in the business for many years & I've previously owned many of their other products. This hard disk from their My Book range doesn't disappoint and you can see the quality of it as soon as you open the packaging. Available in black, it is solidly build and has a nice weight to it.
It should be noted that this isn't part of their portable range, it's a desktop model which needs to be plugged into the mains and then will connect to any PC via the USB port. Although you can't really carry it around as easily, the advantage of this product is that it is much faster than you tradition portable hard disks.
So if you're looking for more space or a means to backup your valuable data and information, you can't go wrong with this offering from Western Digital.
