      Miracle worker!

After years of partying until the early hours of the morning and having little to no sleep I have been trying to find a product to help reduce bags and dark shadows under the eyes.

I have been using this product for just over 7 months now and have found that this is a real miracle worker.

4 weeks into using it my bags seemed to look reduced and not as puffy, however the dark shadows were still visable. I was hoping it would literally work over night. If something doesn't work straight away I tend to just stop using it but I carried on using the gel.

7 months later and I can see such a drastic improvement I still can't believe it. The dark shadows have nearly gone and the puffiness around the bottom of my eyes has reduced by 60%.

The best part of applying the gel is the cooling sensation shortly followed by a gentle tingling.

The gel comes in a funky little box, which makes it seem more appealing. Inside there is a little booklet telling you how to achieve the results that you want.

You get 15ML of gel for around £20. It is quite expensive for such a little tube. But I believe it is worth every penny.

If you suffer with puffy eyes and dark shadows, this is a must have for your makeup bag.

This is the magic gel which saved the day!!

I am one of those annoying people who cannot sleep in a strange bed. I can literally lie awake all night and hence I wake up with rather huge bags under my eyes. Last April I was visiting my sister in London preparing for her wedding day. We had spent a fortune on outfits, hairdos and manicures but nothing was going to hide those tell tale bags and dark circles under my eyes. I bought various reviving eye drops and eye masks, I tried pieces of cucumber but nothing would hide the fact that I hadn't slept much all week.

I was feeling pretty miserable about my panda eyes and decided as the wedding wasn't till late on in the day I should get some fresh air and have a wander around Knightsbridge. Not being aux fais with London I hadn't realised that this was the home of Harrods. On landing at their door I felt sure that they would have a magic solution to my eye problem. I envisaged having some sort of face/eye lift without the actual surgery and not coming out with a £19.50 tube of eye gel from a makeup company of which I own a variety of products. Good old Benefit!!

      ~BENEFIT~
The Benefit creators are identical twin sisters, Jane and Jean Ford who started their makeup boutique in 1979 when it was known as The Face Place. Their love of makeup and their distinctive sense of humour bore this idiosyncratic product which is still evident in their products today. In 1990 The Face Place became Benefit and the rest is history as the Ford Twins have cornered a unique and eye-catching makeup which is gradually overtaking the makeup world.

      ~The Company~
The company originates from San Francisco, USA. Its slogan is 'Benefit is fresh from our farm to your face'. They support beauty against cruelty and no animals are used in the testing of their products.

      ~The Packaging~
Benefits products certainly stand out from the crowd. Their colourful, quirky packaging with a 50s style artwork and their wacky product names are a must have in any makeup bag. Benefit is very popular in both the UK and USA and is adored by celebrities, makeup artists, models and us mere mortals!!

      ~My Purchase~
My daughter had headed over to the Benefit counter to purchase a couple of things and I duly followed like the dutiful mother. I wandered around the counter when this slogan caught my eyes! 'A quick pick me up for exhausted eyes'. I looked closer then read another slogan 'Significantly reduces the appearance of puffy eyes'. I became very interested indeed. 'Does this really work?' I enquired of the Harrods sales assistant. 'I don't know' she replied. Not the answer I was looking for, especially in Harrods! However I picked up the tester and dabbed a bit under my right eye. Straight away I felt a tingling, a cooling and a tightening sensation - it was a lovely feeling. There was no irritation despite its fairly mint-like aroma which quickly dispersed.

I walked away from the Benefit counter only to return ten minutes later to have glance in a mirror. Were my eyes deceiving me or did my right eye look decidedly less puffy than the left! I decided to ask another assistant if my eyes looked different and she correctly spotted that my right eye looked better so I purchased this magic gel immediately for £19.50

Depuffing action eye gel depuffs the entire eye area and sends your bags packing! Erasing all evidence of that late night on the town or lack of sleep!

      ~Contents~
This lightweight cooling eye-gel is made with hydrolyzed soy flour which firms and lifts the skin around the eye. It also contains raspberry and chamomile which soothes and nourishes the skin around the eye thus presenting younger, fresher and firmer looking eyes. When you dab this product around your eyes you can actually feel it working. You may not be getting a good night sleep but at least you will look radiant.

~Ingredients: (for those of you who are interested, ignore if not).
Water, Dimethicone, Glycerine, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Soy Flour, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate, Butylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Sorbitan Stearate, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Retinyl Palmitate, Isobutylparaben.

      ~Product details~
The eye-gel comes in a 15ml/0.50 US fl oz tube.
It is a soft gel, with a milky colour.
It has an almost minty aroma, which disappears quite quickly. However obviously does not have any mint extracts as I am intolerant to such.

      ~Application~
Place a small drop on you finger. I find my middle finger most effective. Dab the gel gently around the skin under your eye paying particular attention to those areas which are obviously puffy. You can also dab above your eye below the eyebrow. Then very gently pat and rub the area ensuring full coverage to get the best effect. It has a smooth texture and glides on easily. You will feel an immediate tightening of the skin which proves it is doing its job. It dries very quickly so you can immediately apply your makeup. The eye-gel can also be used daily.

      ~Packaging~
The tube is a mint green colour, in the usual retro 1950s style design. It has a lovely old picture of The Sisters Ford at the top not boring like your usual eye-gels. All benefit products come in boxes which add protection to the product.

      ~Durability~
Benefit advise that you use it daily, every morning. I have been using it for almost a year now and there is still plenty left in the tube. I think it is a fantastic product and would highly recommend it. I felt great at my sisters wedding and nobody commented that I looked tired. My sister was rather impressed with the transformation.

Benefit products can be found in Boots and a variety of Department Stores such as Harrods, House of Fraser, Arnotts, Debenhams, Selfridges and larger Boots Stores. The price for this eye gel is £19.50 in all of the above. You can also purchase Benefit products on line at www.benefitcosmetics.com

£19.50 may sound expensive but it definitely worked for me and would be cheaper than cosmetic surgery.
      Thank you for reading.
      Helen xx (Now wide awake)!

Still loving this eyegel another year later!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Over-priced and Over-rated in my opinion

I was using a No.7 eye gel, but lost it, so was looking for a replacement (although typically now I have bought one I found the original.) I wanted an eye cream or gel, and looked online through various different products as well as reading lots of reviews on here. I decided to go for a Benefit one, and I was either going to go for the de-puffing eye gel, or their eye cream, Eyecon. This product had better reviews, so I decided to go for this one.

The eye gel comes in a box, which isn't really needed - the only benefit I can see of the box is that perhaps it can fit all information such as ingredients on there, but to be honest I just think it's a waste of packaging.

The gel itself is in a small turquoise coloured tube with a white screw top lid which sort of reminds me of a small tube of toothpaste! It also features a small pictures of 'The sisters Ford' who actually set up the Benefit company.

This gel contains chamomile and raspberry extracts as well as 'stimulating plant fibres'. It states on the box that this gel will significantly reduce the appearance of puffy eyes, and give a quick pick-me-up to the under-eye area which is exactly what I wanted to do. I work a combination of day shifts and night shifts meaning I have a very irregular sleeping pattern, and I also wear contact lenses which at times can become a little bit sore, especially as I work in IT and am staring at a computer screen for up to 11 hours at a time.

The gel itself is white and quite thick. It does say on the box only to use a tiny amount and not be tempted to use any more. You should dab it onto the under eye area and blend gently so as not to tug at your delicate under-eye skin. You must allow it to absorb completely before applying make-up, but I find that it sinks in quite quickly, without leaving any sort of greasy residue, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I find that when the gel is first applied to the skin, the thing I notice most is that it has an immediate cooling effect which is quite refreshing. I must admit though, other than this cooling effect I have not really seen any results at all.

My eyes are often puffy as I often don't get a lot of sleep. I haven't really found any reduction in the puffiness around my eyes since using this, and the appearance of my eyes and the skin around them doesn't change either. Apart from the fact it cools my skin, I don't actually feel this has done anything for me, which I am very disappointed with, given the price. I also can't help but feel that if I wanted a cooling effect I could have just done what I did prior to purchasing this, which was put a couple of teaspoons in the fridge for a bit and put those over my eyes. Yes, it looks stupid, but it would have saved me a fair bit of cash and had exactly the same results.

A 15ml tube (aka very tiny tube) will set you back a ridiculous £19.09 from Boots. To be honest when I look back at the amount of money I spent on beauty products last year it makes me feel sick, and I certainly wouldn't spend that amount on a product again without making sure it worked first.

Needless to say I will not be buying this again and I would not recommend it. Yes, it has a cooling effect on the eyes which is soothing and quite nice, but for the best part of £20 I would have liked to have seen more, such as the puffiness and bags under my eyes reduced, which unfortunately it did not do.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          good product.

As I am not getting any younger, I do everything that I can to help the area around my eyes to stay looking young and to get rid of the lines and dark circles that appear, that make you look tired and ill. I have tried a few products I used one from YSL and I think it was a waste of money as I could not see any improvements in my eyes, which when you spend a lot of money on a product you do not expect.

Depuffing action eye gel from Benefit is not a cheap product, but it is worth every penny as it works so well. It depuffs and firms the eye area and gets rid of those unwanted bags. It helps to soothe the skin leaving it looking fresh firm and feeling softer.

For the best results I use this product first thing in the morning after I have cleansed, toned and moisurised, I allow the product to dry for ten minutes and allow it to work before applying my make up, the longer you can leave it the better I find. I then apply again in the evening after I have removed all of my make up after a hard day.

This is not the best product around, but for the value it is great as there are other oroducts that are over £30 which is pricey and not really a product i want to try with having read some great reviews on the product first.

Depuffing action eye gel comes in a 15ml, you do not need to apply a lot of this product as a little dabbed under the eye goes a long way, which is great as I retails around £20, but if you look around online you will be able to find a bargain.

            A de-puffing eye gel

I first came across the Benefit make-up and Beauty range about eight years ago when I went on an 18-30's holiday to Malia with a friend of mine who was obsessed with the range and sure enough her obsession was passed onto me and now the majority of my non-Lush items come from Benefit.

I find that working long hours, being stressed and not sleeping well can lead to your eyes looking quite puffy and when you are meeting and greeting people all day long the last thing you want is to look very tired and washed out because it doesn't look good or professional in my own opinion and as much as I love my Touch Éclat for being one of the best products I have ever bought, I feel I need something to combat the puffiness first. There are many different reasons as to why you have got puffy eyes such as water retention, lack of sleep and alcohol and I have tried many different solutions to try and combat the problem such as raw potatoes, cold teabags and iced water and whilst they did slightly improve the puffiness, it didn't erase it totally.

Lots of products have been recommended to me to combat the eye puffiness, I've tried lotions and potions right across the high street and have found nothing to rival Benefit Depuffing Action Eye Gel which is sold in a 15ml tube at a cost of £19.50 so it is a little more expensive than some creams on the market but for me this actually works and I am happy to pay for it and being sold in my local Boots store makes life much easier.

The one thing I love about Benefit is the packaging, the box within which the tube of eye gel comes in, is quite kitsch to describe it in one word and is boxed in an creamy colour box which depicts a picture of a woman with the before and after affects of using this product in a black and white pose. The lettering on the box which is what initially caught my eye is a mint green colour and the words which stand out in bold lettering are 'Depuffing' and 'eye-gel' and then immediately underneath are the words "It's amazing", so I am a bit of a random shopper and if something stands out to me on the shelf, I more than likely buy it, very fickle but it is a good marketing campaign. I bought this product in my local Boots store, where it immediately stood out amongst the other products from Benefit.

When it comes to using this eye gel it is really simple. I tend to use this product first thing in the morning rather than at night time and as soon as I have washed and showered and am ready to sort myself out to go to work or whatever it is my day is taking me, before I put on any make up, but have cleansed, toned and moisturised I get my tube of eye-gel and remove the screw on lid. The tube of eye gel looks like a tube of toothpaste, so whatever you do; don't keep this tube next to your toothpaste because I don't think it would taste quite the same. Anyway, once you have removed the lid, you simply need to squeeze the tube ever so slightly to allow the gel to come out of the tube and using your index finger you literally need a small blob. Then using your finger simply rub the cream into the puffiness under your eye very carefully and then using a circular motion, ensure the gel is absorbed into your skin, I tend to start from the outside corner of my eye working inwards towards my nose. As the cream hits the skins there is an instant cooling affect which feels really soothing. Then once you have applied the gel to both eyes I always wait for at least 15 minutes before I continue with my routine of applying my make-up just to ensure I have given the gel time to work.

I have been using this eye gel now for about a year and it has never let me down. The de-puffing of the eye is always a success and this is mainly due to the ingredients Benefit use to make it work. Firstly there is Raffermine which is a soy protein which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and it is also used for its skin tightening and firming effects. Secondly there is Chamomile and raspberry which soothes and nourishes the skin around the eye. All of these ingredients then work together to reduce the puffiness around the eye and banish any sign of bags under the eye. When it comes to describing the smell, there isn't an over-riding smell to describe, it is very subtle.

As I have said before, every time I use this product it has never failed me. One tip I was given by a beautician friend was to put this product into the fridge about an hour to 30 minutes before I use it so that as soon as I put the gel onto my skin I feel an instant soothing feeling and it really does help and because it glides on so effortlessly and smoothly, it doesn't leave any trace of something being there once the cream has absorbed like a similar product that I tried before buying this which was much more expensive but it left a white residue behind, even though I had taken my time to ensure it had completely absorbed into my skin.

Having used this eye gel now for just over a year I would definitely recommend it to anyone who suffers from puffy eyes and wants a quick solution. This isn't a product I have to use on a daily basis which means it does last quite a long time and since I began using it I have only purchased two tubes, so it does give good value for money to me personally. Further information on this product is available on the Benefit website.
