“ Brand: Boots / Type: Eye Makeup Remover / Suitable for: Eye „
I bought this eye make up remover because it was really cheap and one I hadn't bought before. I thought it was worth a try because I do like the Boots Essential range of products. I think they are so cheap and so affordable. Being so cheap I decided to try it and see if I liked it or not and the price of it if I didn't like it wouldn't have been such a waste of my money.
The bottle is a transparent plastic and really basic looking and nothing special in design. Just the name clearly on the front. It has a flip back lid which can be easily clicked back in place after using the product.
This make up remover is designed to remove eye make up using a cotton pad or bud. I found it to be a really runny consistency and once poured onto the cotton pad, I found I had to use quite a lot of the lotion to remove my make up. I found I had to keep on using quite a lot of pads to completely remove my make up. I don't wear thick make up but I did find this one didn't remove it in the way I liked. Usually when I use a remover using cotton pads, I only have to use a couple to remove it but with this one I found I had to use quite a few pads and to keep on squeezing the lotion onto the pads to completely remove all traces of make up. I found that it doesn't dissolve make up in a way I expect a lotion to work. It is cheap to buy and I didn't expect miracles but I did expect not to keep on using the lotion and pads to remove it. Using so many pads and the amount of lotion isn't such good value for money in my opinion. I'd rather use less pads and lotion and pay just that little bit more money on the product.
I found this one is far too watery for my liking. I don't like a lotion which has a runny consistency of this particular brand. I really don't like the way it removes make up. I found I had to rub rather than just letting the product do the work. I don't like to rub my skin and I much prefer to just let the product do most of the work and then for me to just gently glide the pad across my skin. I found this product really irritating to use in all honesty and found I could only use it half a dozen times before I just popped it into my little basket where I keep some of my beauty products. I have kept on using it from time to time, just not to waste the product but each time I didn't like it. I use it every now and again to just use the remaining lotion and so not to just throw it away. I hate having to throw products in the bin, so using the rest is fine.
It is fragrance free and has no smell to it, not a problem not having any fragrance. It contains vitamins to help the skin and it is designed to remove mascara. I found it doesn't remove mascara well at all and is a complete waste of time using it to remove mascara. I found when I used it to remove my mascara my eyes felt sore and I could see a mist in front of my eyes and a foggy feeling. Not a feeling I like and when this happened the first time I used it, I didn't use it again to remove my mascara. I found it didn't remove my eye shadow well and like I said earlier in my review the only way it remove the eye shadow was with continuous usage of the lotion and pads.
I have sensitive skin and found it didn't irritate my skin at all. The only 2 positive things I can say about this product is the price and the way it works for my sensitive skin. I paid around £1.50 for a 150ml bottle. Good price in my opinion but not very good value for money. The quality isn't a good one and it isn't one I would recommend.
I don't recommend this one if you are looking for a product that removes eye make up quickly or one that you want to use in a hurry to remove your make up. I certainly won't be buying this one again in the future because I found it a complete waste of my money in my opinion.
I am only going to give this one 3 stars. I think this is a fair amount of stars and only giving it the 3 for the way it works for my sensitive skin and the price.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
I frst bought this product about 6 months ago. I always wear waterproof mascara due to my active lifestlye (swimming, sports etc), and was finding it difficult to get my eyemakeup off without the help of a panscrub and buckets of eye-watering remover! I have previously tried other 'gentle' removers but still found myself scrubbing away with red, stinging eyes. On the hunt in Boots for a new remover to try, I nearly missed this product on the shelf (due to the very unassuming packaging). I am sooo glad i spotted the bottle and bought it! The Boots Essentials Fragrance-free remover doesn't leave my eyes stinging, and is very quick and effective with my stay-put mascaras. I also find that i need to use only a little remover to get the job done - a pea-sized blob is more than enough. I use this every day, but it still takes me 2-3 months to get through a bottle
Given that the remover is only £1.42 (plus Advantage points, if you collect them), i think this product is an absolute bargain.
I don't believe i'll change to another product again!
I started using Boots essentials range when I was a student with no money. However, despite picking the cheapest products I was very happy with the effectiveness of the products.
This eye-maker remover only costs just over £1 and is fragrence free (as the title suggests) so that means it's suitable for people who have sensitive skin like me. My eyes and the skin around my eyes often flair up with red, ezcema patches and since I started using this to remove my daily makup I've found these diminish and disappear. Whether it's the product or something else I don't know, but I'm just happy to have found something that doesn't irriatate my eyes and actually removes my eye make-up, without leaving any clumbs or leaving you with panda eyes the next morning.
I usually use about a 10p sized blob of this eye-make-up remover for each eye, so the bottle lasts me almost a month. In my opinion this is a steal of a product that in these belt-tightening times makes a good alternative to other more expensive eye make-up removers. The only problem with using an eye makeup remover like this is that sometimes I dispensed too much of it and then it gets wasted, at least if you have pre-soaked pads you don't have to worry about that. In addition when you get a bit much onto your pad then it can easily get in your eye and it does tend to sting a bit.
So I suppose this is a good product as long as you watch how much you put on your eyes.
This make up remover comes from the Boots Essentials range. This is a range of products which are all fairly basic. They all come at low prices which is the main attraction to the range. The price was the reason I decided to buy this make up remover. I didn't have a lot of money on me at the time, just a bit of change, but I had run out of make up remover and needed to get some. I thought this would do, and it only cost £1.42 so even if it didn't work that well, it wouldn't have been as if I had wasted loads of money on it. So I decided I'd give it a go.
The bottle isn't anything special which kind of reflects the make up remover itself, which isn't anything special either. Like the name says, it is just an essential. So there are no added feats and if you're looking for something really special thats extra gentle then this isn't for you. It doesn't irritate the skin or anything but it isn't the gentlest out there by far.
To apply what I do is squirt out a little bit of this onto some cotton wool. You can use tissue instead of cotton wool if you want to but it doesn't really have the same effect as it absorbs the make up remover too quickly and then you end up using more of it that you would have had to otherwise. So really it is best to use cotton wool.
Then once I have some of this on a bit of cotton wool I gently wipe it all over my face wherever there is make up. In some places if I have a lot of make up on, for example around my eyes if I'm wearing mascara, then I have to rub a bit harder. This only really gets the worst of my make up off, and I have to then wash my face with face wash as well so get rid of all of it. So it doesn't completely remove all my make up but it does get rid of most of it.
Overall this was reasonably priced for Boots, but in other places you can get better make up removers at a much cheaper price. It does do the job but there are much better make up removers out there. Personally I would not buy this again simply because I know I can get better ones for a similar price or even cheaper elsewhere.
I am always trying different make up removers. Usually I buy the ones which are on offer in Tescos while I am doing my shopping. This particular weekend when I was doing my shopping it was a bonus points weekend in Boots. I was looking around for cheap essentials to stock up on, like cotton buds, cotton wool and baby wipes etc, and came across boots own brand make up remover at £1.39 for 150ml and it was also on 3 for 2. It was a bargain which just couldn't be missed.
The make up remover comes in a clear plastic bottle with a blue snap on and off lid. The writing is really basic and doesn't give too much away, but it was the price which sold it to me, I didn't need the packaging to advertise the product, like the more expensive ones do.
The make up remover itself is creamy and quite thick, which for some reason made me a bit apprehensive as I normally use the more watery make up remover. I put a few dabs onto a piece of cotton wool and rubbed my eyes. With a reasonable amount of rubs my make up came off, so it did that job very well.
The make up remover does sting a bit if your eyes are tight closed, but this is the same with quite a few other brands, so I am not going to hold it against Boots. The make up remover left my eyes quite greasy and shiny, which wasn't a huge problem as I always wash my face afterwards and it is only ever before bed that I use it, so it's not the time of the day when I am most bothered about my appearance!
It is fragrance free, so it is better for your skin without the nasty additives.
Overall this does a good job and it a good price.
This was a absolute find of mine and one I just have to review to let people know how brilliant this make up remover is. I wear mascara and eyeliner every day and I apply it frequently so I having a good eye make up remover is essential for me! Before using this product I actually used really expensive eye make removers, costing about £10 - £15 a time! I was short of cash one month and needed something cheap to use and I picked this up in a hurry. Since then I have never gone back to using the expensive eye make up removers!
This is an absolutely amazing little product from boots and an absolute steal at the price (Its just over a £1 and is often included on Boots special offers) This is so fab, it doesn't have a strong smell, its light and fresh to use, it removes ALL of the eye make up without leaving any clumps/traces and it does not sting! I have on occasion actually got this in my eye and it was great didn't sting at all! My eye make up comes off on the pad in one go (2 pads if I'm wearing eyeshadow too) and it lasts too. Because it works so well you really do get value for money as you only need a 10 pence piece amount on your cotton wool pad to remove the makeup! Fab fab fab!
I have used the Boots Essentials fragrance free eye make-up remover for quite some years now after my Mum recommended it after having used it herself for a long time.
The lotion is white in colour and of a good consistency, not too thick but not too runny. There is nothing worse than eye make-up remover lotion being too runny and not staying on the cosmetic pad!
The packaging is quite bland, however it is the price and the actual lotion that are the appeal. Priced at £1.39 for 150ml it is one of the cheapest remover lotions on the market and in my opinion fantastic value for money.
As someone who always wears make-up daily, I find it's vital to get a good eye make up remover to keep my eyes looking clear and fresh. This eye make-up remover does just that. It removes all of my eye make-up using one cosmetic pad for each eye and I wear waterproof mascara which can be quite stubborn to remove. The lotion actually feels nice and cool when you apply.
As someone who has quite sensitive skin I always struggle to find a lotion that does not irritate or sting and this certainly doesn't. The lotion is fragrance free and vitamin enriched which is perfect for my sensitive skin.
I have been so impressed with this budget Boots brand eye make-up remover that I have recommended it to friends who were using expensive alternatives and now they love it just as much too! A fantastic purchase, worthy of 5 stars!
I always buy my skin care products in Boots due to the advantage card points and through the mail I received some money off coupons for their own brand of essentials skincare range. I thought I would give it a try and picked up their eye make up remover and facial wipes.
The make up remover comes in a plastic bottle containing 150ml and costs £1.39. The bottle is very plain, a white see-through colour with a blue flip lid and blue lettering on the front. To be honest it looks a bit cheap but if it works who cares?
The remover is described as vitamin enriched and that it is suitable for skin that is sensitive or allergic to perfume as it is fragrance free.
The lotion itself is quite thin and watery although it does rub in very quickly. The instructions state to apply with a cotton wool pad and rub over the eye area but that didn't work for me. I found that the lotion would become absorbed very quickly in the pad and once i'd rubbed it over my eyes, the skin would feel very slimy and greasy requiring me to wash my face or wipe it with a wet wipe. I found the remover worked better when applied directly to the eye area and massaged in. After doing it that way I found it worked well.
I found that the remover would take all traces of make up off very quickly and with minimum effort and left my skin feeling soft. It did not cause any irritation and made my skin feel fresher.
I was very pleased with this find, it is so much cheaper than many other make up removers andd yet it works just as well if not better!
I have used Simple eye makeup remover for ages until I was running out and was on Boots website at the time, so I thought I would have a quick look and see what they had to offer. I was at first looking at the higher end of eye makeup removers, but somehow I came across Essentials Fragrance Free Eye Make Up Remover, I was first drawn by the price of £1.39. On their website Boots say it is fragrance free, vitamin enriched lotion that will gently but effectively remove eye make up including waterproof mascara. It is suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. This is defiantly a bonus for me, fragrance free and good for sensitive skin as at the moment even though I have an oily skin type my skin is also very sensitive.
Under each product on Boots they have a little review section, and no-one seemed to hate it, in fact they all liked it. I never used an eye makeup remover that was a lotion before so was a little worried at how well it would work and how much needed to be used to remove all traces of makeup. The reviews on their website won me over and I placed it in my basket, I only paid £1.39 for a 150ml bottle, which is less than I was all ready paying for another brand, so it wasn't the end of the world if I didn't get along with it.
I received my order quicker than the recommended expected date and tried it the same night. The bottle itself is plain and boring; it is blue and see through. It has a darker blue flip top lid. I don't care about the packaging it is what is inside that count for me.
Because it is a lotion and not what I am normally used to using, which is the consistency of water I had to get the hang of using this product and finding the right way for me for it to work efficiently.
I first applied it to a circle dry cotton pad, the product seemed creamy enough but it seemed like the product sunk into the cotton pad as soon as I touched my eye area, and there was nothing left to wipe over my eyeshadow or mascara, never mind the concealer I have underneath my eyes. With this way as well I found I had to almost drag the eye area over and over again just to get any trace of makeup off, this is never good now and especially in the future.
The next morning when I woke up I had dried mascara underneath my eyes and I thought I had removed it all?
So with this way never working and having to keep applying product to the pad, thus wasting product I had to find another way. Also this way I found because you had to work at it to remove anything I got some product into my eyes, ouch is not the word but thankfully the stinging didn't last long.
The second way I applied a small amount of product to a damp cotton pad and this seemed to work better, the product didn't sink into the pad straight away and there was almost enough to take all my mascara off, but again it did take some time but not half as long as the first way and I had to use some more product for my eyeshadow and underneath the eye area.
The third and final way, which works for me is to squeeze a small amount of product onto my fingers, as soon as it touches you skin it almost liquefies. I rubbed both fingers together and gently rubbed the product gently into my eyeshadow, mascara and underneath my eye area. Once you've done this and looked into the mirror you can see your eye makeup around your eyes where it has dissolved, apply another small amount of product to a damp cotton pad or just a damp cotton pad with no product works just as well, wipe over where it has dissolved and effortlessly it all wipes away leaving no reside.
Straight away you can tell all traces of makeup has been removed including all mascara, this way, even my mascara and my eyes look fresh and ready to accept my eye cream.
The best thing for me is it's not irritated my skin in anyway, yes it stings if it gets into your eye but what product doesn't?
I have used this product for nearly 4 weeks and I am in love with it, I am not at the half way line yet (give me another few weeks) and this is with everyday use and using a small amount. With Simple and bigger priced brands I have found you have to use more product to dissolve your eye makeup and with this you don't. For me there is no comparison, I will be re-purchasing again in the future and I can't believe I didn't find this earlier.
