As proven by all many of my previous reviews, I am somewhat of a Clarins addict. I use a lot of their products, and I am (so far) always genuinely excited about how effective they actually are! I have not been let down by any yet, and so keep buying more and more - hence the appearance of Clarins Skin Smoothing Eye Mask in my vanity unit!
I bought this product as I work a job in which I get up at 5am. This may not sound too early to some, but I hate early mornings! And my skin and eyes concur. I often find when I wake that even after a good cleanse and tone my skin around my eyes can make me look rather dull and anything but awake or fresh (and that is sometimes even after using the amazing Clarins Eye Contour Gel - shock horror!)
The Skin Smoothing Eye Mask promises to "energise tired eyes--minimising signs of fatigue and stress" Clarins also claim it will "decongest, smooth and tone eye contours for an immediate feeling of well-being". While, certainly, this is not a miracle in a bottle (I do not suddenly have the most sparkling eyes in the world once used) I do notice a very big difference in how awake my eyes actually look. I put on the mask after cleansing, toning, and moisturising my face, I then leave for 10 minutes, and although advised to remove the excess after this time with a wet cotton pad, I do not tend to have any excess there! Still though, I wipe over the area with a wet cotton pad as advised. Then, just to double up the protection and care, I add a small amount of my Clarins Eye Contour Gel. Suddenly, I look far more fresh and ready to take on the day. The skin around my eyes is actually a heck of a lot softer, and I do not have the tight pulling feeling I often had previously. The product also seems to tone the area, and I do feel as though my eyes are "decongested" as Clarins claim they shall. I have also noticed a big difference in the very fine lines around my eyes, and actually, I think my bags may have also reduced (though this could be down to the obsessive use of my contour gel also!)
The cream itself is a dream to apply - a lovely thick consistency, and thanks to the lovely design of the bottle, it is very easy to access every last drop (without wasting any by squirting it all over when you have to squeeze too hard! I haven't once had to do this with my mask) it is also quite cool as you apply, and I have no doubt this helps sooth the area and help fight the look of fatigue.
As said above, the bottle is well designed. It is a good size at 30ml, and for a price tag of £29.50, I really do believe you are getting excellent value as a little goes a long way. There is a simple screw top, and the bottle is in the usual Clarins elegant style of white and red.
I highly recommend everyone to try this product, it is a dream to use, and even if used daily will last a very long time - a little goes a long way.
Another hit Clarins, well done!

I am a big Clarins fan and although i find there products to be pricey they are very good quality and most i have are worth the money. I purchased the Clarins skin smoothing eye mask after having a free sachet sample.
Clarins skin smoothing eye mask costs £18 and can be purchased from the Clarins counter in John Lewis Stores, Debenhams or online from Ebay at a cheaper price.
Clarins skin smoothing eye mask comes in a white box that has the posh Clarins logo on the box, the little instruction sheet explains what ingredients are in the eye mask and says how to apply it.
The Clarins skin smoothing eye mask is in a white tube , it has a flip cap lid. Clarins skin smoothing eye mask tube has 30ml of cream.
Clarins skin smoothing eye mask is ideal for people who have tired or stressed eyes, this is a soothing mask for around the eye area. It also helps reduce red or puffy eyes, helps wrinkles and lines.
The texture of the product is creamy and white in colour , its also quiet light. I like the fact it has no smell from the cream, this reminds me of the simple products that have no scent.
To apply you have to wash the face and pat dry, a small blob on the finger tips and rub in circular motion all the way around the eyes can massage the temples with the eye mask. Its recommended that the mask stays on the skin for around 10 minutes, i remove it with damp cotton wool balls, some of the eye mask does get absorbed into the skin.
At first the mask feels cold as it sits on the skin, this is very refreshing and soothing. I feel very relaxed with my eyes closed whilst the mask is working. After removing the remainder, i can see a huge difference in my eyes, it certainly dulls down black circles cause by tiredness and even in the summer when my hay fever was bad it cooled, soothed my eyes.
This product does work, moisturizes and rejuvenates my eyes.
I recommend Clarins skin smoothing eye mask and if you don't want to shell out all that money then ask at the Clarins counter for free samples , try before you buy.
I got a little 7ml tube of this in my goody bag full of little freebie products. The perfect size so that you can have a few goes of a product and decide if you want to pay full price for it.
I have looked online and see that this comes in a 30ml tube and the price of this varies quite a lot. You can get this brand new on e-bay for about £22 and can pay anything up to £36 in other places. Pretty expensive for such a small tube.
The tube looks the same as the picture. A simple looking tube which is white in colour and has all the Clarins writing on it. It looks alright but not exactly eye catching. Then again it's about what's inside that counts isn't it?
So how do you use this? Just wash your eye area and pat dry. Then put a blob of this onto your fingertips and smooth this over your Eyelids. You will feel the eye area instantly cool and it is a nice feeling. I wouldn't say that my eyes usually feel hot and stinging but it was surprising at how cool they felt. It was lovely. This is a Gel and you can put this in the fridge for it to be extra cool, but I haven't tried it this way.
This is meant to moisture and soften your eye area, refresh the area, smooth the skin around the area and
to minimise the signs of Fatigue, puffiness and dark circles. After about 10 minutes you just wipe this off with a damp Cotton wool pad. I done this and it only took a few sweeps for this all to be off. Afterwards my eye area felt nice and smooth and the Coolness seemed to last a little bit longer as well.
This is a lovely product, but I don't tend to sit about with things on my eyes. It would be a nice product to use every now and again and it seems as if the full sized tube would last a good enough lenght of time, but it is a luxury due to the price.
A good rest for your eyes.
I received this product for Christmas last year. I do not usually have much time to spend pampering myself with face masks and relaxing round the house and put this in the cupboard and forgot about it. A few days ago I stumbled upon it and thought I'd give it a go. I had finished a long shift on a Saturday and was due to go out that evening for a friend's birthday night out. After a long day at work and from getting up early, my eyes looked dull and puffy. I wanted to give them a bit of a treat and try and make them look a little more human before coating them in make-up. I remembered my Clarins eye mask and thought I'd give it a try.
I washed my face and patted dry and opened the eye mask; that is similar in design to a tube of toothpaste. I squeezed about two centimeters of the mask on to my finger tips. I then smoothed the mask over my delicate eye area. The relief is instant; it is exceptionally cooling and soothing and feels deliciously smooth on my skin. I had intended to do a spot of washing up while I had the mask on but instead I thought I would savor the moment and have a little ten minute lay down. The mask is gel like and easy to apply, it goes on smoothly and feels light on the skin. It is great for my sensitive skin because it is fragrance free and can also be used by contact lenses wearers. While wearing the eye mask I can feel my eyes feeling more awake and my skin feel less irritated and tight. I found it extremely relaxing and comforting. Since this first use I have decided to keep my mask in the fridge; just to give it that extra cooling sensation next time I want to use it.
Clarin's claim that the benefits of using the product are:
* Minimises visible signs of fatigue, puffiness and dark circles in just 5-10 minutes.
* Immediately smoothes skin around the eye contour area.
* Refreshes and comforts irritated skin.
* Moisturises and softens.
* Facilitates longer-lasting make-up.
After waiting ten minutes I washed the mask off. The instructions say to gently wipe off with a damped cotton pad. After my indulgent ten minutes of doing nothing the taking off the mask this way was rather a chore. I gave up on the cotton pads as they would take forever to get the entire mask off and decided to wash my face instead. This was a bit of a mistake because the mask stings like crazy if it gets in your eyes! Next time I will be following the instructions more carefully. Nevertheless after washing my face and patting dry; my eyes felt better. I could still feel my sting tingling from the cooling sensation and they looked visibly less fatigued and puffy. I then put my regular eye cream on, which went on extra smooth on top of my conditioned skin, followed by my make-up.
My eyes still had the same fine lines and wrinkles around them but the puffiness looked much better and the skin feels more hydrated. I have had the same effect however, from cucumber slices placed over my eyes. The cooling and soothing qualities of the cucumber make my eyes look less tired and I don't have to go through the hassle of using cotton pads to take the mask off. Despite this I do quite like the Clarins eye mask and I will use it again. It contains some fabulous natural products, such as Wild rose that helps prevent puffiness, chicory extract that smoothes and energises the skin and serrated palmetto to prevent swelling.
Clarins was created in 1954 by Jacques Courtin-Clarins. He created luxury products made exclusively from plant extracts. This is the main selling point for Clarins and the reason then can charge over the odds for their products. For a 30ml version of this product it is around £19.00. The cheapest I have seen it for is £17.00 from an online shop. I do find this a little pricey for what the product has to offer.
I like the eye mask. I think it is a great pick me up and it is relaxing and soothing. It is not a miracle cure to wrinkles and fine lines however. I would not pay full price for this product and although I will continue to use the tube I received as a gift, when it is finished I will not be replacing it. I don't think it offers good value for money and will go back to using the trusty old cucumber slices. How much more natural can you get!
This product is much like beauty flash balm, but thicker and creamier to apply. It basically does the same job but is specially formulated for the eye area.
You need about a pea size amount for each eye. I tend to dab the product, which is a light thin cream to my undereye area and then a little on the eyelid. It feels lovely and cool when you put it on. You are supposed to leave it several minutes and then remove with damp cotton wool. I found that on tired days this product has been soaked up by my skin within 5 minutes which suggests to me that the product does sink in and is put to use. nevertheless, I wipe any excess away gently with a damp cotton ball afterwards.
The mask is very refreshing as it cools the area and makes it feel a little tingly - like when you apply cucumber slices. It seems to reduce the dark circles under my eyes, although they did not disappear. The sallow ashen look i usually get the morning after the night before is much improved with this product. The eyelid area appears lifted and brighter.
Overall i would say it is a good product - personally i find it works wonders when i look horrendous and doesn't seem to make much difference when i am just a little overtired.
One slightly negative point is that if you have beauty flash balm you may as well use a generous dollop of that on the eye area instead as it does more or less the same job. The only difference really is that the mask is a little thicker to apply.
