I don't normally buy eye makeup remover as the products I have used in the past have made my eyes sting and left a greasy residue around the eye, which I find very irritating as it doesn't take much to make my eyes irritated and teary.
So I was a little wary about trying this which came in a trial size with some Gatineau products.
However this is completely different to all the other eye makeup removers I have tried before and I now use this on a daily basis.
It comes in a plastic bottle which has a pump action if you buy the larger 400ml size, which I usually buy as I find it easy to dispense the right amount and the larger size is better value.
Floracil is a blue liquid lotion and it is very easy to apply.
Simply apply one pump to a cotton wool pad and place this on each eye area and leave for about 30 seconds, pressing lightly. When you lift the pad off you will see that the Floracil has also lifted off your eye makeup. I usually turn the pad around and apply again just to be sure it has taken everything off and then gently wipe under the bottom lashes. I find this method takes off all my eye makeup and if you look at the pad you can see the shape of you eyelashes in mascara that you have taken off with the Floracil.
I love this because it doesn't sting even if you get it in your eyes, you don't need to rub and there is no greasy residue, which is brilliant for me with my sensitive eyes that are easily irritated. This is really gentle and as the eye makeup lifts off really easily you don't have to rub the skin around your eye, which is very delicate and you don't lose any of your eyelashes.
It does say that it has the same PH as your tears and it has extracts of chamomile and cornflower, which are known for their calming properties.
This is also great at taking off difficult to remove waterproof mascara
Floracil can also be used as an eye mask, just put on damp cotton wool pads and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. I find this really soothing to my eyes and do this, particularly in summer when my eyes get irritated with Hay fever.
It isn't cheap but I find the 400ml size lasts me about 8 to 9 months.
It does have a scent which is Ok, but you can smell the alcohol in the product.
It also claims that it helps diminish dark shadows under the eyes, but I don't have those, so I can't confirm this.
Gatineau is a French beauty brand that has existed since the early 1930's which is now owned by Revlon. It has a long heritage and some of the products that were first developed by the founder are still being used today.
It used to only be available in beauty salons but can now be purchased online, so it probably isn't as well-known as other skincare brands, but it does produce quality products and continues to develop the range.
Would I recommend?
Definitely, this removes eye makeup easily and effectively without having to rub your eyes.
It leaves my eyes feeling fresh and soft and causes no irritation or stinging and doesn't leave any oily residue behind. It is really kind to eyes and the added advantage is you can use this as an eye mask.
It is expensive, but I feel that it is worth every penny as every other product I have tried leaves my eyes stinging and with tears rolling down my face.
It lasts for ages as you don't need to soak the cotton wool pad to remove all your make up.
Unlike other brands I have tried there is no residue left behind so you can reapply make up immediately.
A 5 star product that suits all, but particularly those with sensitive eyes.
Gatineau is sold in beauty salons and can be bought online.
At the moment salonskincare.co.uk has this at half price or dicounted and 250ml is £11 and 400ml for £14.50
I got a small sized bottle of Gatineau Floracil as a free gift when my boyfriend ordered some moisturiser and I was so excited about using it! I have read fabulous reviews of this product and seen numerous demonstrations on QVC but couldn't justify spending so much on an eye make up remover! It retails at around £24.00 which is WAY out of my price range and seems a ridiculous price to pay for eye make up remover!
The product came in a clear bottle with a white screw top lid. The liquid is a pale blue colour and as the bottle is clear so you can easily see how much you have left.
I found the product removed my eye liner, mascara and eye shadow very quickly and easily. I poured a small amount onto a cotton pad, held over my eyes for a few seconds and then wiped a few times.
I wasn't blown away by the effectiveness of the product, and it didn't seem as easy as they make it look on video demonstrations, but it was a lot easier and more effective than cheaper products on the market.
It was very cooling on the eye area and I have just read some reviews on here saying that you can use this as a refresher which I think is a great idea.
If you have ever used L'oreal gentle eye make up remover I found this product very very similar to this, performance wise, looks wise and the effects. The only thing that is different is the price! I do think that you probably don't need quite as much though to achieve the same results, so maybe this evens it out.
This leaves the eye area feeling refreshed and moisturised. There was no redness or soreness at all and I found it was very gentle. I didn't have to rub the eyes a lot to get my make up off, which was good as I didn't feel like I was pulling the delicate skin around the eye area.
I didn't think that my bottle lasted very long at all, but it was only a small 50ml size so perhaps the larger sizes would be better for this. I hadn't considered buying this due to the price, but reading reviews on here saying how long it lasts I am now considering taking the plunge!
Gatineau Floracil Gentle Cleansing Lotion
Gatineau was founded in 1885 by Madame Jeanne Gatineau. Jeanne devoted her entire life to beauty and making women and men all over the world feel good about themselves and making products that we're good for the skin and that delivered results.
She opened her first salon in Paris in 1937, Jeanne worked close with Doctors and Dermatologists to develop her first line of skincare products. In 1950 Jeanne's first Gatineau school was opened in Paris, there Jeanne shared her knowledge and teaching them about skin, creams an Gatineau techniques that are still used to this day.
Jeanne's success of her first salon was just the beginning of her very successful brand to be named Gatineau.
Many of Gatineau's products are ahead of the beauty industry. They were the first skincare brand to develop exfoliators and slimming creams that actually worked. They use ingredients such as green tea, vitamins A, E and F also a range of anti-oxidants.

This product comes in a clear plastic bottle with either a white screw off lid or in the bigger sizes it comes with a white pump action lid for easy access to the product.
At the back of the bottle it says it gently removes makeup from the eye area without drying.
Use within 12 months of opening.
I saw this product advertised on QVCUK years ago and thought its got to be too good to be true, there saying it removes all eye makeup even waterproof mascara, no need to drag, pull the delicate eye area and has all theses wonderful ingredients to help the eyes. No irritation even to the most sensitive eyes.
At first I didn't buy it off QVCUK I bought it from another website instead a few years later. I bought it mostly because I was sick of other eye makeup removes saying there product did the same and for me it never removed anything unless I kept it on my eyes for half an hour and kept pulling at my eyes for even a drop of mascara to come off. Also it wasn't good for money as I was using loads to get it to work so that is when I thought I would give Gatineau's Floracil a try.
I can't remember which site I got it off but I bought for the 400ml. I have had it for more than 12 months and I have a quarter left. That is what I call value for money.
The product itself is a light blue/green colour, very light in texture and it smells really fresh.
To use to put some product onto a cotton pad (I find theses better and easier to use than cotton balls) I press the cotton pads onto the eye area and press gently with the tips of my fingers. When you press it onto the eye area whether it will be the first time for 100th time it will always feel cool and refreshing.
I leave it on for a while so the product can stink down into the day's makeup and dissolves it.
When I take the pads away I do noticed an outline of my mascara and some of my eyeshadow. As soon as I gently wipe off my eyeshadow it all comes off in one sweep. Mascara wise I have to wipe a few times for it to all come off and I don't even wear waterproof. I would recommend if you do to leave the pads on longer so it can dissolve more.
Normally I have to turn the pads round to try and get more mascara off and you'll be surprised how dirty the pads are in the end. Even by just wearing mascara and no eyeshadow.
I have even used this product when my eyes feel tired and in need of TLC. Again put some product onto a cotton pad and place on the eye area for 15 minutes or so. Your eyes will feel cool and refreshed. When you take the pads off your eyes feel and more look fresh and awake. A great pick me up.

Of course :-)
Gatineau Floracil Gentle Cleansing Lotion For Eyes - I do like this product and keep repurchasing, but I am not as impressed with it as other reviewers may be. Possibly due to my impatience, it never seems to remove my mascara as quickly as seen on the demonstrations! I follow the instructions to the letter, but I agree with other reviews that if you wear a waterproof mascara it can take a couple of goes to remove it all. On the good side, it does not irritate, smells delightful, a large bottle which is often on offer from QVC lasts for ages, and, one additional bonus - I have discovered it is very good for cleaning my dog´s "tear" stains - it must be gentle, when I used proper dog ones I think the neighbours were going to call the RSPCA with all the noise he caused! So, until I find something as gentle but more efficient with waterproof mascara, I will keep on buying.
Gatineau floracil lotion is so good I have to recommend it to everyone.
It is expensive - but does the trick!
Luckily I was given some as a present because no way could I have justified paying around £24 for eye make-up remover.
Just pop a little onto a make up pad or cotton wool, leave for a few seconds and then gently wipe - the eye make-up is removed swiftly but gently.
I use quite a lot of eye make-up so this is really useful as you do not need to use a lot so the bottle lasts for ages (I've had this one for almost a year and use it every night)
Unlike some eye make-up removers, Gatineau's Floracil is very gentle. I think my eyes have gone more sensitive over the years and have found some to be either too harsh (and caused redness) or have caused my eyes to be puffy the following day.
Also, with the cheaper ones, you sometimes have to use loads to remove all the mascara and eyeliner - you only need a bit of this.
It is also good to use if you use a fresh pad with a little of this on to freshen the eye area - I'm not sure if you are supposed to use it as an eye 'refresher' but it works and I've had no adverse effects.
You can buy many Gatineau products on QVC which offer a 30 day money-back guarantee - Floracil is usually available on their website and is often cheaper than buying direct - so if you want to try it this may be a good place to look at?
Gatineau market this as the absolute Rolls Royce of eye makeup removers and while it's good, it's just not *that* good. It works well enough, although I must admit I do find it very slightly irritatiing and need to use toner or similar to get it off my eyes when it's done its job. On the other hand I've had not dissimilar products from the Body Shop, Yves Rocher, Decleor etc etc which have worked just as well, if not better. It's probably worth trying. Just don't expect a miracle.
This eye make-up remover is excellent! Dual purpose too! Tips on how to get the best out of this eye make-up remover are.... Pour some onto a cotton wool pad. Lay over the eye, applying gentle pressure. Leave for about 10 seconds, then gently wipe. It practically removes all in one go! BIG PLUS>>>even waterproof mascara's come off, though you may need to do it 2 or 3 times. Remember I said dual purpose.... here is the bonus.... It double as an eye mask, reducing puffiness, and refreshing those tired eyes. Simply pour some onto your cotton pad, lay over the eyes and lay back and relax! Simple huh! Alcohol free so no horrible tightening of the skin, light but refreshing fragrance. Performance wise, I would have to give it maximum points, 10/10 Bit pricey, but it does last for ages and you can buy it in Salon Sizes of 400ml. Mine is the 250ml size and only a couple of cm's into the bottle which I have had just over 4 months now. Try it out girls, you won't be disappointed with this one!
