Quickies do a range of convenience cosmetics and their eye make up pads definitely fall in to this category. I got a pack of 30 wipes in the June Pink Parcel as a pampering treat. I figured they would be handy on my holidays but had to try them first!
A note on the packaging
These wipes come in a mini baby wipe plastic packet that has a bit of a rustle to it. They used to come in 20s in a plastic pot but this has changed of late, the price has gone down and the contents gone up so that's consumerism winning for once and I think the new plastic wrapper is better for the environment than the pots.
These wipes are around the size of the palm of my hand and are square oval in shape. They do not tear, so are just thick enough and they feel cool to the touch and are thoroughly soaked in the removing agent. They have a textured pattern on them too.
Price and availability
These are sold in Superdrug for two pounds and nine pence at the moment.
I like these wipes, they are really cooling and the texture helps to remove eye make up easily. They leave my eye area feeling really smooth and clean. They don't feel at all stingy and are not oily.
I'd definitely buy these again, they are great and a pack of thirty will last for ages. I would choose these as a great travel companion.
I have used Quickies eye make up remover pads on three occasions, and all three times it was because I was on holiday and I bought them simply because it was more convenient than having to take separate lotion and cotton wool with me. I don’t use these all the time, only for convenience.
They are fine as a short tem measure but actually, at £2.19 for only 20 very small wipes (one for each eye) it actually can work out very expensive if you are going to use these all the time. These wipes come in a small navy blue plastic round shaped pot with a press down and click lid. The packaging is good and the wipes never dry out.
On the negative side, they are very small, and though I say one wipe for each eye, there have been occasions where I have had to use two as they are very small. They are not that great to use, either, as they tens to be really quite oily and they leave my vision slightly blurred after I have used them and it takes me quite a while for all of the oil to disperse.
To me, they actually look just like those Quickie nail polish remover wipes (except they don't pong and they come in a different coloured pot). Each little wipe is stacked inside the tub, one wipe on top of another. They are gentle on the eye and not harsh and they don't irritate.
They smell pleasant and fresh and they do an ok job of removing all make up (including waterproof mascara). As I say though, I really don’t think I would choose to use these on a longer term basis though they are great for short term use and really handy to pack in you luggage if you’re going away.
At home I can use baby oil or similar to remove my eye make up, but that is not an option when I am traveling. Admittedly I could transfer a small amount to one of those travel pots you can buy, but the thought of the oil leaking everywhere is not something I wish to contemplate.
So holiday packing involves the purchase of Quickies Eye Make up remover pads, you get 20 in the small round compact container and they work out about 10p each. Now that is far too expensive on my money saving planet for daily use, but a very cheap option on holidays, (the alternative possibly being ruined, clothes, shoes etc; etc).
They are very greasy, but I guess that helps them remove your eye make up easily. If I have only worn a little then one pad will do both eyes. If I have been heavy on the mascara and eyeliner then I need two.
They have the added bonus of containing vitamin E thus moisturising your eyes at the same time.
You must make sure you put the lid back in tightly so they don't dry out, but providing you do that they stay fresh and moist for ages.
They contain Liquid Paraffin as the main ingredient which doesn't make you feel great towards them. (But does make me glad I don't smoke!!!).
So in summary they are great to take away for very very quick eye make up removal, but I personally would not recommend them to use at home.
Having tried several other lotions and potions for removing my waterproof mascara, I came across Quickies Waterproof Eye Makeup remover pads. At £2.09 for 20 pads I decided it was worth trying them out. They come in a blue plastic box and are foil sealed inside so don't dry out at all. They feel a little rough against the skin and are quite large and almost feel heavy. However, their size means you only need one pad to cleanse both eyes, so they last EVEN longer. The liquid on them feels very greasy, but washes off very easily afterwards with water. I found them to be the most effective remover I have tried, removing waterproof mascara quickly, easily and painlessly. They left virtually no trace of makeup and the skin around the eyes feeling soft. I would definitely recommend them, particularly at such a low price.
Suitable for all skin types / They contain Vitamin E to gently moisturise at the same time / Close lid tightly after use to prevent moisture loss and store upright where possible.
