I used to always use Simple face care products as I liked how gentle they were on my sensitive teenage skin. However, as I got older I felt I needed more specialised skin care products (esp for combination skin, blemishes etc). I still feel, however, that the gentlest of products should be used around the eye area so I decided to stick with Simple's Eye Make-up Remover. At £3.99 it's not the cheapest product out there, but it is a trusted brand. To use you just pop a little on a cotton pad or ball and dab or lightly stroke at your eye area to remove make up. The opening of the bottle is a little wide for such a thin liquid and so 9 times out of 10 I end up accidently pouring it out too fast and it goes everywhere! I think they should have one of those pin-prick hole pourers at the top of the bottle to aid application. As a whole I think it's rather good. It feels refreshing and gentle, and wipes off most shadows and single-cost mascaras. However I've found that if I use two coats of mascara (for a night out) or waterproof mascara then this isn't a powerful enough liquid to remove it. I'm often left waking with the dark smudge of dried mascara (panda eyes!) underneath my lower lids. For a product that actually claims to get rid of waterproof mascara (it's on the front of the bottle!) I don't think it's good enough.
Right, so what attracted me first to this product was its super cheap price in comparison to its competitors. Secondly, it is from the Simple range so one would expect it to be Dermatologically tested and approved which it is (as mentioned at the back of the bottle). The packaging also states that it has no perfume or no extra colour which suggests that it may be suitable for sensitive skin. I feel it doesn't irritate my skin. I have been using this for a very long time now as well. However, different skin types do react differently but I can say from my experience that I have used this product for a very long time and have not faced any skin issues with it so far. Thirdly, the super easy packaging is very convenient to use. I have used eye makeup removers which require you to shake the bottle to mix the oil formula and then pour it out. Those types of eye makeup removers can create a real mess and even being super careful does not really matter because you end up wasting a lot of product. The Simple Eye Makeup Remover is perfect because there is a small hole which allows you to squirt a few drops of the product out on to the cotton pad. This allows minimum wastage and makes the product last a lot longer. Overall, it is a good product and value for money. You do have to hold the cotton pad down for a few seconds in order to let the eye mascara dissolve a little but I found this to be the case with most products anyways. This product is definitely worth a try. Remember skin care and removals are one of those things that do require trial and error. This product was part of my trial and error process and I always find myself coming back to it.
***Why I want the product*** I am always on the lookout for an affective yet cheap eye makeup remover that does not sting or irritate my sensitive eye area, does not dry the area out and obviously removes makeup affectively, including mascara. I have tried a few eye makeup removers in the past, I have never stayed loyal to one brand as I have not found the perfect one yet that I love enough to stay loyal to. With my skin being sensitive and my last eye makeup remover being Boots Essentials for Sensitive Eyes starting to actually sting my skin I knew it was time to find a new eye makeup remover. ***About the product*** I came back with Simple Conditioning Eye Makeup Remover. Simple say this eye makeup remover removes waterproof mascara while being delicate to the eye area without irritation and is 100% oil free. Non greasy texture, conditioning that will not sting or irritate your eyes in anyway. This eye makeup remover is enriched with pro-vitamin B5 that helps to restore, softens and smoothes delicate skin. Suitable for contact wearers and as always, no perfume, no colour, just kind. Simple says this product won Women and Home Best in Beauty 2011. ***Packaging*** As all Simple products the packaging is minimal, which I do not mind as it is always what is inside that counts and I believe that even when it comes down to makeup and skincare. Simple Eye Makeup Remover however, comes in a clear 125ml plastic bottle with a healthy green grass colour screw off lid. The product inside is also clear. The front is simple (no pun intended) that it just tells you what you need to know and this goes with the back as well with a little bit about the product, how to use and ingredients. The product is not tested on animals, the packaging is recyclable and the expiry is 12 months once opened. ***Applying the product, and how it feels*** I do not apply eye shadow everyday but I do like my black eyeliner and I do like my mascara even though it is not waterproof but I still want something that works without rubbing, tugging and pulling the eye area. The product itself to me smells clean, fresh and not at all chemically unlike some eye makeup removers that have way too much alcohol in them. Taking my round cotton pads I pour a little of the product onto the pad and gently press the liquid over the cotton pad so it spreads without the pad being dripping in product. I then place the pad(s) over my eyes and gently press the pad/product onto where I have makeup i.e., eyeliner and mascara. I let it sit for a minute and keep patting the product into the makeup for that length of time and gently take the pads off my eyes. Every time I do this method application and take away the pads I am left with a perfect outline of my mascara and the outline of the eyeliner, although the eyeliner has not been fully removed, nor has the mascara. I then simply swipe the cotton pad over my lashes, no tugging and the rest of the mascara comes off really easily. Depending on the eyeliner I am using, whether it is long lasting or not depends on how well the product removes it but usually a gentle sweep a few times with a q-tip or the tip of my cotton pad and all traces of eyeliner has been removed. When I have worn eye shadow as well as mascara and eyeliner the same application above applies to let the product work into the makeup dissolving it ready to be removed and most often than not the eye shadow comes off in one sweep. Long lasting and waterproof eye shadows may take a little longer or some more gentle sweeps but never tug. The product feels fresh, cooling and refreshing on my eye area and no sight of teary eyes due to the ingredients, unless I have applied too much product to the cotton pad and swept over my eyes. Then the product can run into my lashes and that does sting my eyes but it is nothing new as I have found all eye makeup removers do this. ***Price and availability*** You can purchase this product from stores such as superdrug, boots, chemists and other beauty shopping outlets for around £3.39. ***What I think about it/do I like it?*** I do like it but I am not in love with it. I like that it does not sting my eyes unless too much is applied, it is not greasy at all and does not dry my eye area out and it does what it is meant to do. But there is something about this product that I cannot put my finger on as to why I would not purchase again, unless I had to. ***Would I purchase again?*** As above I would purchase if I had to but other than that I do not think I would. Sorry Simple. Undecided.
At christmas I was given from a friend at work a little goodybag with Simple products inside, of small travel sized products. I don't tend to use Simple products as much anymore, but was grateful anyway. One of the products was this conditioning eye makeup remover. I have a few bottles of my Estee Lauder eye make up remover which I absolutely love, but being lazy the other night this simple product was on the shelf (where it has been since Christmas!) and so I just grabbed it to give it a go. - Packaging - The packaging is a simple clear plastic bottle with a green screw lid lid. Inside it has a small cover with a hole so you can pour a few drops of the make up remover onto a cotton wool pad and get wiping with on excess spillages. - How to use - It is recommended to apply a few drops (not a huge amount is needed) to a cotton pad and wipe over eyes to remove make up. This can be mascara, eye shadow, eye liner etc. Then wipe clean, gently downwards. - The product - This eye make up is a clear liquid, which is suitable for sensitive skin. It does not have a strong scent, and looks almost like water to the naked eye, although in the bottle, after I tip mine upside down to extract the eye make up remover, when back up it has bubbles at the top which suggests some soap-like ingredient inside. It contains Pro- Vitamin B5 which works to condition and soften the eye area and lashes to prevent a harsh removal of eye make-up. - My experience - It is very gentle and light and doesn't feel like a make up remover at all. Almost feels like I am removing my make up with water! My only gripe is that I have to use 2 or 3 make up remover pads per eye to properly get all my makeup off. I don't really wear much, mainly mascara daily and the odd "fancy" day when I can be bothered to do a lovely bit of eyeliner but this makeup remover seems to have some issues facing up to this battle. Even still I feel like my eyes are left all blotchy from rubbing all this minor makeup off! I can't imagine how it would be if I had on eyeshadow too! - Price - A 125ml bottle costs £3 in Superdrug which is miles cheaper than my preferred brand so I shan't complain too much although I half expected it to be cheaper. It doesn't break the bank though so for a well known brand it isn't too expensive. - Overall - Overall I don't think I would personally go out and buy this as I haven't had much success with it, but this could be due to the fact that I usually use Estee Lauder so I notice the difference from a much less premium brand. Nevertheless for a decent makeup remover it isn't awful so I shall still give it a satisfactory 3 stars.
As I have previously mentioned I love black eye liner and mascara. Great for defining the eyes but not so great for white pillows, hence the need for a good make up remover! Simple have brought out a range of skin products aimed at being effective yet kind to skin. This product contains pro vitamin B5 to soften and smooth skin , it has no oil , no perfume and no oil. Importantly it contains no animal derived ingredients. But does it work ? Yes! The product is clear liquid which you put on to cotton wool and apply to the skin. The best thing is that you simply need to glide this across the skin, you don't need to rub harshly as iv found with other make up removers. I have been using this for years and it 100% effective for removing heavy eye make up and even waterproof mascara. As the product is non greasy your skin feels fresh and clean after use. This is also effective at removing foundation ,blusher and lipstick, not just eye make up! Also once I ended up getting chocolate on a creamy wool dress , in desperation I tried this and it actually removed tuthe stain without damaging tnhe wool, its a wonder product! Probably should also note that a bottle lasts for a few months as u only need to use a little each time !
I had a real favourite, an old faithful, when it came to make-up remover. But unfortunately, last year the company who made that product went into administration, leaving me high and dry and searching for a replacement. I have to be so careful with skin and beauty products, as my skin is super sensitive. My eyes and face are the most sensitive part of me and considering I like to wear a considerable amount of eye make-up on nights out, it's vital I use a kind and gentle make-up remover. I decided to give Simple Kind to eyes Conditioning eye make-up remover a whirl. Simple I had heard of, it's a high profile brand which is renowned for being 'kind to skin'. Boasting 100% fragrance and colour free, dermatologist tested and 'no harsh chemicals'. If I'm honest, I was a little sceptical that the make-up remover would prove very effective, considering how gentle it had to be to fit the brand's criteria. But it sounded perfect for my sensitive skin, so I took the plunge. I am sad to say, I was proven right to be so sceptical! I was let down more than I expected by the product. It barely removed any make-up from my face...Yes it brought away some of my foundation and blusher, which I don't wear very much of, but it was extremely disappointing on my eyes. Which after all, is promoted as the product's main purpose on the packaging! I tried soaking it on my eyes, using cotton pads. I tried gentle sweeps with the cotton pad from the inner corner out. I even ended up rubbing at my eyes, in a last failed attempt to remove my eye make-up...to no avail. The make-up was still there in almost full force. And to make matters worse, my eyes were left itching like crazy, post me using the product. My skin around my face was left reddened by the make-up remover too, and I was left with a slight burning sensation on my cheeks. So unfortunately, I have to rate the product very low as I found it extremely lacking on delivery of it's purpose, and was left with sore eyes and reddened skin as a departing gift! My personal advice......move further along the beauty shelf!
One of the nice things about being home is that I keep different beauty products here from the ones in my flat, and so I get to use some things I've forgotten about. While using a different deodorant or moisturiser isn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world, it's still interesting enough to compare my Newcastle beauty supplies to those I have in Edinburgh. One of the things that I have here is this Simple eye make up remover, which I believe I bought pretty much at random when I was at home over Christmas. While I normally use baby lotion to take my makeup off, as it's gentle and works well, I thought I'd give this a try when taking my makeup off last night (well, really this morning, but let's pretend it was last night). == Simple Eye Make Up Remover == This is a clear liquid that is used to take make up off your face. It is best used applied to a cotton pad, which you then sweep/rub over your made up areas to make them naked and clean again. In this respect it's basically identical to all other eye make up removers, so if you've used one successfully before, you're unlikely to be confused when it comes to using this one. == What I Thought == I think I'll be sticking with baby lotion. After using this makeup remover, I was initially impressed, as it did rid my eyes of traces of mascara very quickly and with little of the liquid required to do so. After about ten minutes, however, I noticed that my eyes were slightly sore, which normally doesn't happen after using any other product to remove makeup from my eyes. This discomfort has lasted for quite a while and caused my eyes to water slightly. While this isn't the end of the world and my eyes don't look red or inflamed, I'd much rather take my makeup off without an uncomfortable after effect, and so am not entirely impressed with this. I associate Simple with gentle beauty products and so am surprised that my skin reacted badly to it. I didn't get any into actual eyes and used it as I would baby lotion or another brand of makeup remover, and so have to put this down to the product and not anything I've done. == Conclusion == As it made my eyes slightly sore after use, I won't be recommending this eye makeup remover. While it does its job at getting rid of mascara and eye shadow (I haven't tested it with eyeliner and am not going to now), the discomfort it left me in means that it's never going to be one that I choose to buy or use again.
In the recent weeks I've been using eye-make up remover daily because I always feel like no matter what else I do, I go to bed with eye make-up still on. I have always been a fan of the Simple product range so thought I should give their eye make-up remover a go. I picked this up in Sainsbury's for around the £2.50 mark, I think. First of all, I just wanted to say I really love that all the Simple products are made from products that are gentle to skin which obviously reduces the chance of irritation and reaction with the skin. I also really love the packaging - it's simple, like the brand ha!, and sleek so you feel like you're not paying for fancy packaging, just good product. I really love the product itself - It feels just like water, but fresher! I get excited to use this product every night and it really leaves me feeling like all my eye make-up has gone. I go to bed with my eyes feeling fresh and clean which is obviously what everyone wants. I've tried all sorts of eye make-up remover, from supermarket's own brand to high end companies and I have no problem with saying this is my favourite eye make-up remover to date.
simple..... a kind and gentle brand, i have always found their products to be good however i was let down by this. Coming in a clear plastic bottle with flip top lid with simples usual colour of green on the lid and writing. The liquid is clear and has not perfumed smell as thats the simple brand no perfumes. Purchased for 3.29 from boots for 125ml, i thought i would give this a try as it was a bit cheaper than my usual brand. Found with all the simple products in the facial care department of boots. I used the product as you would on cotton wool wiping over the eyes, however for me it was useless. It was just as though i had wiped water over my makeup. It simply smudges the makeup and does not remove it. I ended up with dark patches under my eyes i had to remove with cleanser as this wasnt shifting any of it. It is also worth clarifying none of the make up is waterproof or normally hard to remove. I used most of the bottle in a week whilst waiting to get my usual one. The only positive thing i can say really is it is not greasy and it did not irritate my skin as my eyes can be sensitive. Not a product i would consider using in future nor recommend sadly.
Simple are one of those brands that I trust in the skincare industry. I know that I will not experience any allergic reactions or problems with the products because they are fragrance free and perfect for even the most sensitive skins. Additionally the products are dermatologist approves tested and approved which I like the sound of! The two main products I use from Simple is this eye make-up remover and their regular cream cleanser. They are reasonable prices and I feel that products like this I can skimp on the price compared with other parts of my beauty regime where I would not use a cheaper brand. Simple often take part in Boot's 3 for 2 offers which is when I always try to grab my products. This eye make-up remover is a 125ml, which I always seem to think looks small in size but it is actually the same size as most other eye make-up removers. It retails at £3.25 and can be bought in a lot of supermarkets like Sainsburys, Asda and Tescos as well as from Boots, Superdrug, Savers and many other stores. I find that one bottle lasts me about 2 months which is not too bad when bought on the 3 for 2 offer. The packaging from Simple for this product is a simple clear plastic bottle with a green lid. Nothing special but this does not bother me because I guess often the price of a product is also reflected in the packaging, I would rather pay less for a decent product than pay extra just for an attractive bottle... to me it seems like a waste. Majority of eye make-up removers which remove waterproof or long wearing eye make-up have oil in or have an oily residue (even if oil is not present in the product) which is left on the eyes. I hate this feeling on the eyes and it means that if I want to take my eye make-up off from the day to reapply my make-up for going out it means that I have to ensure that the oily residue is off prior to applying fresh make-up by wiping my eyes with a clean dry cotton pad. However, even doing this prevents my eye make-up going on well. I have this problem with a Lancome eye make-up remover I bought a while back. However, this product from Simple manages to remove long wearing and waterproof mascara with very little effort whilst also not leaving an oily residue. It is perfect and a bargain for the price. It is so gentle on the eye area, I partially soak two cotton pads and simply sweep them over the eye area twice without rubbing the eye area and my eye make-up has disappeared, even my Clinique waterproof mascara is removed effortlessly! This product contains Pro- Vitamin B5 which works to condition and soften the eye area and lashes to prevent a harsh removal of eye make-up. Overall this is a fab product which I would recommend for anybody whether they use just a regular mascara or whether they wear very heavy eye make-up and waterproof mascara.
Simple Conditioning Eye Make Up Remover is my favourite make up remover and I have been using it for quite a while. This product comes in a transparent bottle with a green tap and has a small hole for the product to come out from. This make up remover is a transparent liquid and fragrance free, which looks and feels exactly like water. To use it, you dab a little of the product onto cotton wool and wipe across your eye makeup. You may need more than one wipe to remove all your makeup and for heavier makeup maybe even two pieces of cotton wool. It is even effective on waterproof mascara. I really like this product because it doesn't leave any residue behind unlike some other makeup removers which are more creamy. It is almost as if you cleansed your eyes with water. This product is suitable for sensitive eyes as it doesn't irritate your eyes or skin at all. I think is also safe for contact lens users. Simple products are quite cheap to buy and often there are buy 1 get 1 free or similar offers.
This comes in a 50ml bottle in a clear bottle with a green lid. It is a clear liquid which isnt perfumed. It is supposed to remove all eye make-up even waterproof mascara without irritating eyes and is suitable for contact lens wearers. I take off my make up with my usual wipes or cleanser i then apply a bit of this to a cotton pad and wipe it over my eye being careful not to drag the delicate eye area. The bottle has screw off lid & a tiny hole at the top, which makes it easier to get the product on a cotton pad without pouring too much out. It doesn't sting or irritate my eyes and feels very gentle- in fact it feels just like water and doesn't leave behind a greasy residue. It manages to get most of my eye make-up off fairly easily with minimal rubbing although it does not get rid of all of my mascara, leaving little flakes behind. I think it would be even worse at removing waterproof mascara. It costs about £1.30.
Simple Kind To Eyes Make Up Remover What is it? A gentle eye make-up remover that claims to be a perfect blend of active ingredients to effectively remove even waterproof mascara. It is as one vital vitamin, no oil, no perfume or colour. What do I think? I think this is quite a good product, I have not really had any problems with it. The liquid solution feels almost like plain distilled water but it is very effective at removing make up. I actually don't really use mascara much so have never tried to use it to remove mascara - but I do usually use it to remove all of the make up from my face, so I'll say it's pretty effective at removing make up. However, I would not be so sure on thick heavy waterproof mascara. It's not a good substitute for proper cleansing. You would still need a proper cleansing lotion to get a deeper clean. However I would say that this still as good as using make-up wipes to remove the surface grime and make-up of your face if you don't have much time all you, be bothered when getting back after a late night out. There is no stickiness no greasiness and no residue left on the face after using this I would say this is a very straightforward product - simple and suffice and no more. In that, I say it doesn't have any moisturising properties as some other removers do but this is not particularly important. I would say this is a very comprehensive product in itself and is probably one of the best on the market and costs only about three pounds for a 250ml milk bottle which I think is very good value for what it does what it is. Definitely very good for sensitive skin, and is no problems around the eye area either - no soreness, stinging or irritation. I notice that last year they had a revamp on the packaging and apparently they changed the formula slightly as well and I did actually noticed the change on my face. The product still works effectively, but for some reason the solution just doesn't feel as good as it did before after using. In that I mean, I used to be able to use this and my face would look more bright and more conditioned, but since the formula was changed I noticed that the solution only removed the make up and that was it - my skin didn't look better or conditioned as it did before. The brand also does a travel sized bottle as well which costs around £1 and definitely worth a try to see if it suits you, but generally I can't imagine anyone having any problems with this. The only problem I have with it is that it gets used up too quickly! Thanks for reading. Leighsa ©2011
This is my absolute favourite make-up remover. I find a lot of make up removers which you apply to cotton wool pads, then to your face will often leave your face heavily greasy and sometimes leave residue of the make up on your face which is really annoying, and means you go to a lot more effort to actually get rid of the make-up than you need to. With Simple, you simply apply a small amount to each cotton wool pad, and rub in a circular motion around the eyes, wherever the make-up is. The beauty of this particular eye make-up remover, is that it doesn't sting your eyes, even if you get the liquid directly in your eye, as is the case with a lot of make-up removers. The make-up will generally come off quite easily (obviously depending on how much make-up you are wearing and how heavily it was applied), but this is definitely the most effective make-up remover I have used, and I tend to wear liquid eyeliner, kohl eyeliner and mascara on my eyes, so quite a lot of eye make-up, but Simple seems to get rid of it fairly easily, it doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy at all and doesn't leave any make-up residue on your skin. Also, as mentioned it is really good for sensitive skin (which I am prone to) it has never caused any rashes, it doesn't sting my eyes, ever and it simply just does the job it is required to do! It isn't expensive either compared to similar products from brands such as Loreal, as you can buy a 125ml bottle for around £2, at varying retailers, and for how effective this product is, I'd say it's definitely good value for money. I'd probably suggest trying it out for yourself, as it's only around £2 per bottle, if it isn't right for you, the loss is minimal, but since I switched over to it, I've never gone back.
I find that eye make up (mascara, eyeliner and eye shadow) is always the toughest kind to remove, and in my opinion there are very few good quality removers that do the job that they're supposed to without irritating the eyes. For years, I have used make up wipes to remove both facial make up and eye make up, but I found that rubbing my eyes so hard with the wipes caused my eyes to become red and irritated, and also caused my eyelashes to fall out on occasions. I therefore decided to switch to a more gentle eye make up remover, and given that the Simple brand prides itself on being kind and gentle to skin, I decided to try this product. The Simple eye make up remover is available at most drug stores such as Boots and Superdrug; it retails at £3.19 for a 125ml bottle in Boots, and £1.20 for a 50ml bottle in Superdrug. The eye make up remover comes in a clear plastic bottle with a green screw top lid. The 'Simple' name is printed on the front along with the name of the product. Instructions for use are printed on the reverse of the bottle. All in all, the packaging has a standard appearance. It isn't particularly attractive but is in keeping with the general appearance of most 'Simple' products. The eye make up remover is transparent and it has a consistency very similar to water. It can be dispensed from the bottle by turning the bottle upside down and squeezing gently. I find that the best way to use this remover is to dispense it onto either cotton wool pads or cotton wool balls, and then to sweep the cotton wool over the eyes. The eye make up remover is incredibly effective; it feels almost like the make up is 'dissolving' from your eyes. I tend to have to use one cotton wool pad per eye to completely cleanse the area. I wear waterproof mascara and even that is easily removed with this product. With many other eye make up removers that I have used, I tend to have to rub at the area to thoroughly remove the make up, but this is not the case with the Simple eye make up remover. This product feels incredibly cool on the eyes, and the eye area feels very refreshed after use. The eyes aren't at all irritated with use of this product, so it really is perfect for sensitive skin. (It does help that this product is both perfume and colour free!) This eye make up remover softens the eye area and leaves it feeling smooth and clear, without a greasy residue. This is without a doubt my favourite eye make up remover on the market at the moment. It does an excellent job of removing eye make up, and a little goes a long way, which makes it excellent value for money. This product is kind to skin, too, so it is absolutely perfect if you have sensitive skin. Not only this, but its gentle nature means it doesn't leaves eyes feeling irritated. It is absolutely excellent product which is much more effective than many more expensive alternatives on the market. Highly recommended.
Removes all eye make up including waterproof mascara / Does not sting or irritate even sensitive eyes / 100% oil free without the greasy residue /
