**simple eye make -up remover **
Over the past few months I have tried a few different make up removers due to finishing my last bottle of my precious Elizabeth Arden gentle eye make up remover and not having the funds to buy it .Having tried a few different garner ones and not been that happy with them I decided to give simple a try.
A lot of products in the simple range come in similar packaging. I like how they are coloured slightly different from each other so it makes them harder to mix up. The make up remover comes in a clear plastic bottle with a green lid.
**using the product**
I wasn't sure how much I would like this product after my friend had said it made her eyes itch, never heard of anyone being allergic to simple before!! My first impressions of this product were quite good. It seems to take off plenty of product, I haven't broken out in a rash and its not too fiddly. One of the recent products I have tried I had to shake the bottle to mix the product together and I kept forgetting so I am also glad I don't have to do that. It also doesn't leave my skin feeling too dry or greasy.
Overall I like this product and its nice and cheap! A variety of places stock it so its not like I will have to go out my way to get it.
I am biased. I have used simple for many years. It has never let me down and I have seen no reason to change after using the eye make up remover. Before I actually get down to reviewing it I have to say I use a lot of eye make up and I mean a lot! So trying to remove all the weird little creations I've put on my eyes is no easy task but Simple really did a good job with this product.
There's nothing really to talk about with the packaging, it just standard simple. The remover is a silky cream and is very smooth on my skin which i particularly appreciated around my eyes. I found the remover worked best when i applied it to a cotton pad and placed the pad on my eyelid for 30 seconds and then wiped away to removed the make up. This just helped remove stubborn make up such as mascara and eye liner a bit more. Depending on how much make up I use it probably takes around one cotton pad front and back to get rid of most of my make up and i use about the size of a large cashew nut amount of the remover. I don't try and get rid of all of my make up with this pad as I like to use this cleanser milk thing to get rid of any other flakes of make up remaining but everything else is done with Simple and it works so well.
Its soft, easy to use, and does exactly as it says on the tin and best of all it doesn't agitate my eyes. I really like it. Simple.
So, what do I think of this eyemakeup remover?
This eye makeup remover is one of the most effective I have found to date. It is only cheap at about £3 per bottle (125ml) and can be found in the majority of shops which sell items such as this i.e. Tescos, Boots, Superdrug etc. It is in a sturdy, plain plastic clear bottle with green writing on it and has a convenient lid which never leaks. It is easy to lift the top open and easy to shut it again. Sometimes you can hurt your finger trying to flip lids open but not this one, it's easy to do so no finger nipping here!!
I use the product on a cotton pad by shaking many drops of it onto the pad. I do find I have to use a lot of drops on the pad but when the pad is wet enough it works well at taking my eye makeup off. I sometimes have a lot of black eyeliner and mascara on and it works through it very well. It is not greasy at all and cuts through the makeup with ease. I have tried lots of eye makeup removers over the years and have always found this one works better than any others. You don't need to wipe the eye area too hard in order to remove the makeup which I sometimes do with others.
It smells very pleasant although not a very strong scent. The Simple products are meant to be as their name suggests - i.e. Simple, so they don't do strong fragranced products and try to keep everything as plain and simple as they can. This range is great for someone with sensitive skin as it should not irritate them at all. I don't have sensitive skin so I can't guarantee this but this is the idea of the range.
I would definitely recommend this product to someone who was looking for an effective eye makeup remover.
I thought I would give this eye make up remover a try and have been really impressed with it. It is good value, costing around £3 from Boots for 125ml.
When I first applied the product to my eyes I was quite surprised at how refreshing it made my eyes feel. It is gentle and didn't sting or make my eyes feel sore. It made my eyes feel as if I had put ice cold water on them, and was lovely to use to remove make up after a long day when your eyes are dry and tired. It also removed my make up really well with just after application using a cotton wool pad.
It is easy to use, as you simply unscrew the cap. It has a handy hole at the top so not too much comes out at one. It is also in a see through bottle where you can see how much it left, so it is useful to know when you need to buy some more. I have been quite generous when applying by putting quite a few drops on a cotton wool pad and have only been using it for a week, but it has hardly gone down at all so I would assume it will last a long time.
If you fancy a change from your normal make up remover or are just looking for a good one I would definitely give this one a try. I have been converted and will keep using this due to the really refreshing feeling it gives to my eyes. Lovely!
Taking a break from the overly priced Clinique products, I decided to try out simple products. This one was one of them and so far am loving it far more than any other product like it.
Eye make up has always been the most annoying bit to take off as I'm sure most of you know by now. When I used other products, it was always the most uncomfortable as well. It would sting during and after and make my eyes red and puffy. However this product, although I can't say relaxing, does the job without the stinging sensation you usually get and without the red puffy look afterwards.
I also liked the bottle cap which fits securely on top unlike my other products where the cap falls of and the contents go all over my floor! The application it much less messy as well as the hole is small so can be more precise with how much you want to use.
The smell is much less potent and once applied can hardly be smelt at all. Most products smell awful and the chemical smells seems to stick around for a while so this is certainly an upside for me.
It's much cheaper than other products I have used as its only a few pounds depending where you get it from. I used to use Clinique so this is refreshing to see such a great product for such a great price.
Its gets the job done well. Although you may need a few applications before everything is off, it does what its supposed to do. It even gets rid of the waterproof mascara quite easily.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone who needs a product that doesn't sting your face and isn't expensive. I cant think of any disadvantage this product has to go for it!
Removing eye makeup always feels like a bit of an effort, especially when I do a full eyeshadow, liner and mascara look. I am always looking for ways to effectively remove the eye makeup and use minimal products/time in order to do it.
A while ago I picked up the Simple kind to eyes eye makeup remover from Boots. It costs around £3 for a 125ml size and the bottle looks like it contains a liquid similar to water which lead me to believe it would be very gentle on my eyes. I dislike eye make up removers which feel like they are putting oil into your eyes so I went for this one as it appears to contain no oil!
Simple brand themselves as being good for senstive skin and their products contain no perfumes or added colours or chemicals. They also contain vitamin b5 which they claim actively restores, softens and smoothens skin.
So, onto my thoughts about the product. I generally like using this product although I have known better eye make up removers. The product does work well, but I find I need to rub my eye a little to remove mascara and I usually end up doing the routine twice in order to make sure all make up is fully gone. This product is incredibly gentle on the eyes and doesn't irritate or sting which is a plus! I find the best way to use it is to soak a cotton ball and then hold this onto the eyelashes for a few seconds before sweeping the cotton ball in a downwards motion to begin to remove mascara and eyeliner. Unfortunately this alone does not totally melt away makeup so you will likely have to use a second cotton ball with some product on it to gently rub at the lashes to remove all the mascara.
The bottle is clear with a green plastic screwtop lid which is secure, so no spills or leaks! Once the lid is removed there is a small hole from which the product can leave the bottle, so there is no issue with accidently pouring too much product onto a cotton pad. The packaging is great in my opinion but how the product performs is the predominant factor so I am giving this a 3/5.
*also on ciao*
Eye make up can be tough and stubborn to remove. Wiping and rubbing a rubbish eye make up remover across your eyes can make them feel sore and, worse, irritated. So when I saw Simple sold an eye make up remover which promises to be 'kind to eyes', and also claims to be able to move such tough make up as waterproof mascara, I thought I was onto a winner. I was wrong.
Perhaps one of the most deceptive things about this product is the bottle in which it comes. It is wonderfully marketed. The bottle is transparent, which allows you to see a water-like fluid inside. And you really do think the product will be like water - it is transparent and has the same consistency as water, leaving you thinking that this will be a natural product. This idea is heavily influenced by the array of positive phrases littered across the bottle, such as 'vitamin goodness', 'natural', 'healthy', 'softens' etc. So it was probably the case that I ate up these things, believing to have a potentially great product on my hands.
Applying the eye make up remover to a cotton pad is simple enough - due to the thin consistency, not much is required to wet your pad. Upon applying it to my eyes, I was initially really pleased - the product felt cool and fresh. It also appeared to remove my eye make up well, although I do not use waterproof mascara, so I can't comment on how well it would remove such a product. However, a few minutes after having used the product, my eyes began to get itchy and feel really quite irritated. This only seemed to get worse for about half an hour or so before subsiding, in which time my eyes had gotten watery. Initially, I thought it was probably the make up I had used, although it had not itched while I was wearing it. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, I tried using other make up, but again experienced the same results. Needless to say I was not impressed.
Around £2 for 125ml so fairly cheap.
Highly disappointing. I obviously will not use it anymore as I do not appreciate having itchy eyes. I don't know whether I was allergic to some ingredient in the make up remover, but for something that promised 'no unnecessary or harsh chemicals', I did not expect my eyes to itch to the level that I did. Will not buy again.
