Cucumber eye pads to reduce your puffed up eyes

I am feeling really tired and run down at the minute, for the last few weeks life has been quite hectic and with that comes stress followed by insomnia and not being able to sleep for very long at all. I go through stages like this all of the time, usually when I have a lot on with my work schedule and gradually life returns back to normal and I am back to my old self again. In the meantime however I look like I could pack in a few weeks worth of clothes under my eyes with the dark circles and the tired look, I need something to combat it.
In the past I have used a Montagne Jeunesse sachet of Anti Shadow Cool Eye patches which have done the trick and somehow managed to solve my problem, but when they are out of stock you obviously cant use them, so instead I opted for a product called 'Skin Benefits Cooling Cucumber Eye Pads' and they are sold in packs of 10 which means you get 5 uses out of them and for that they cost £2.50 and are widely available online at places such as Fragrance Direct where I purchased mine from.

The selling point for me with these eyes pads was "Benefits Cucumber Eye Pads are the perfect treat after a long, tiring day or late night" which sounded exactly like me and what it meant was I could go home, run a hot relaxing bath, put my eye pads on and soothe away the manic stressful day and forget all about everything other than my chilled glass of wine.

Within the box as I said you get 10 eye pads which means 5 lots of using them and they come in a resealable sachet which means you can keep them feeling and smelling fresh every time you use them. The packaging itself isn't that much to write home about, it is pure shiney white cardboard folder which has a green trim about it, so it is in keeping with the cucumber effect and through the centre of the packaging is a clear see through window through which you can see the pads themselves which again are designed to look like a cucumber slice.

The idea behind these eye patches is to reduce the tired looking eyes with dark circles under them look which to me are not attractive and nor are they something to impress your boss with, even if you have been working extremely hard at work, they make you look washed out. I often find that I have tired looking eyes if I have had a meeting which has gone on late into the evening, I've got home and find it hard to wind down and spend a few hours sitting in front of the television or reading my book and then suddenly remember that I have got an early morning meeting the following morning. The end result being that my eyes become slightly puffed up and I am left with dark circles under my eyes. So instead of opting for a rather expensive eye cream which is supposed to deal with the problem, I thought I would try a cheaper option.

Dark circles under the eyes can be caused by many differing factors such as not getting enough sleep, lack of Iron and many other different reasons. I definitely don't have any medical problems to cause such an issue and therefore know it is due to lack of sleep and that there are many different products sold on the high street which claim to combat the problem.

To use the cucumber eye pads, I was advised with similar products to chill them in the fridge for at least 1 hour before using as directed to do per the instructions and the coolness of the patches is really soothing as soon as they are admitted to the skin. So removing the pads from their packaging , ensure that you are laying down somewhere completely horizontal (oo-er) and then you simply place it over the eye and they should fit quite nicely around your eye socket. Once you have got both eye pads on simply lay back and think of England. Once the allotted time is up, which is usually 20 minutes or so, you remove the pads from your eyes and then as the skin should still be cool to the touch remove any excess water with a dry cotton wool pad.

Whilst these eye pads are designed to look like a cucumber, to me they didn't remind me of a cucumber with their fragrance. The main ingredients within these patches are Aloe Vera, Cucumber Extract, Green tea, Honeysuckle and Algae extract along with a lot of other chemical sounding names. Aloe Vera is known for soothing irritated skin and it also help moisturise it. Green Tea which I have seen used more and more in beauty products because it is naturally soothing and it also has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. Honeysuckle is also known its anti-inflammatory effects as well as for its soothing effect on the skin as well as helping to moisturise Algae extract which is full of minerals also nourishes, softens and helps the skin retain moisture. Perhaps the most important ingredient of all is Cucumber Extract which has many benefits for the skin, the juice which comes from a cucumber is a natural moisturiser and it is also very soothing on the skin and helps relieve the puffiness of the skin. It also helps remove dead skin cells and tightens skin.
All of these ingredients work together to help calm swelling and irritation, revitalize the circulation around the eyes to erase the dark circles and make the under eye area appear tighter and feel much firmer as well as moisturising the skin. The main aroma for me is the Aloe Vera which I find quite a dominant smell in any product it is in and I quite like the smell, it is quite soothing and having used Aloe Vera in numerous forms I know it will soothe my skin.

So, after using these eye pads for the last few months, I am really impressed with how well they work, especially when they only cost £2.50 which is a lot better value for money than you would get from similar products out there for sale and because they do reduce the puffiness and the dark circles, they don't eradicate them, that's down to sleep, a good balanced diet and drinking lots of water, but they do help. So if anyone out there is look for a valuable product to help them cure their puffy eyes, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these Cucumber Eye pads.
