The Body Shop Vitamin C Eye Reviver Duo is one of my favourite facial skincare products at the minute and I have been using it it on a daily basis for a few months now. It comes in a mascara like tube (orange and silver), and there are two ends to it, one containing a gel which is dispensed via a metal roller ball (refresh around eye), and the other end containing an eye cream (revive under eye), which is applied via a small sponge pad applicator (a bit like those used for applying eyeshadows). The tube contains 10 ml of the reviver (5ml of the gel and 5ml of the cream). There is a slight orange scent to the Reviver Duo, which in my opinion is quite nice without being overpowering (perhaps this is to remind you that it contains Vitamin C!)
On each end, there is a little drawing of an eye showing you how and where to use both the gel and the cream. The gel is meant to be used first, by applying via the roller ball, working your way from underneath the corner of your eye, and upwards, all the way round your top eyelid. The cream must then be applied under your bottom eyelid, and if you have dark circles/ baggy eyes, obviously cover that whole area. This sounds a bit more complicated than it actually is, because it actually takes seconds to apply
The Body Shop claims that the Reviver Duo refreshes and revives, helps reduce puffiness and leaves skin looking radiant.
I use the Reviver Duo mainly in the mornings when I am struggling to wake up (I am not an early bird but I have to wake up before I am actually ready to do so as I have two kids lol). I always find that applying the Reviver Duo wakes my eyes up because both the cream and the gel, but especially the gel, feel very cool and refreshing around my eyes when applied. The eye cream is easily absorbed and does not feel greasy on the skin, but still leaves the eye area well moisturised. The gel is the best bit I think because it feels so cold against the skin and your eyes instantly feel and look revitalized! It is the cool sensation of this product that I think revives and refreshes your eyes, but obviously there must be an ingredient that causes this in the first place.
I do not suffer from dark circles, so I cannot comment on whether the Reviver Duo actually helps with that, but I think that it certainly reduces morning puffiness. It is a lovely product that I use alongside other eye creams, as I do not believe that the Reviver Duo is actually meant to tackle or prevent fine lines as such. Even so, priced at £11 it is a nice morning treat alongside my first cup of coffee and cigarette, and so I would definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from tired, heavy eyes.
I buy a lot of things from the Body Shop as I find they are usually high quality, reasonably priced and contain natural ingredients.
I had read some reviews of the Vitamin C Eye Reviver Duo on the Body Shop's website and as I felt that I sometimes had tired and dull eyes in the mornings, with dark circles on occasion, I thought this would definitely be worth a try.
The Eye Reviver comes in a tube, similar in size to a mascara. It contains two different products which should be used on different areas of the eye and complement each other. The two ends are labelled with "1" and "2" to make it clear which you use first, and there is a simple line drawing with an arrow demonstrating that the eye reviver roller ball should be used from the outside corner of the eye, rolled upwards around the brow, and that the cream should be applied under the eyes. This makes the product very simple to use.
The bold orange colour is appealing as it stands out in my makeup bag, making it easy to find in the morning when I am still squinting before using it! The orange goes well with the Vitamin C aspect and there is a silver section of tubing in the middle stating it is from the Vitamin C range.
The tube is sturdy and I can't imagine it cracking or breaking. Each end of the tube only holds 5ml of product, which seems a small amount considering my other eye cream is 15 ml, but it last a long time. I have had mine at least 4-5 months and it is still going strong.
Use and Effectiveness:
Originally I was only using this on occasional days when I felt particularly tired in the mornings and needed a boost in the eye area. The reason why I wasn't using it every day was that I also have another eye cream which I like. However, I was concerned that I kept using up the expensive eye cream too quickly so I started using the Body Shop vitamin C eye reviver in the mornings, and the other (richer) eye cream at night. I realised that I can feel a different effect from the Body Shop product than the other eye cream, and Body Shop is better suited to mornings.
The reviving roller ball leaves you feeling refreshed due to a combination of the cooling gel and the fact that it is applied with a smooth cold metal ball. However, it is the undereye cream which really makes this product for me. It is a fairly thin cream applied with a wand, similar to a lipgloss wand, and you only need a small amount. It contains sunscreen as well as moisturising ingredients such as glycerin, cooling aloe and natural oils. I can feel the skin under my eye physically tighten when I use this, and my eyes actually feel wider and more open. This is really a lifesaver when I haven't had enough sleep. It makes me look much brighter and feel so much better. I am not sure which ingredient they use that produces this tightening effect, but I have never experienced it with any other product before. It really impressed me.
I leave it for a few minutes to ensure it has fully sunk in before I put my primer and then makeup over the top of it.
I have been using the Body Shop Vitamin C Eye Reviver Duo for about 6 months now.
The product comes in a long circular tube much like a mascara, silver in the middle and with two bright orange ends. The silver part holds the lotion division of the product and each orange end unscrews to provide you with the separate lotions.
Each end has the "refresher" or "reviver" written on it with a small picture of where the lotions are applied so you can easily identify which end you need.
***WHAT ARE THE PRODUCTS CLAIMS?***
Refreshers and revives the eye area with the use of a cooling roller ball gel and under eye cream.
"Leaves skin looking radiant" and roller ball "helps reduce puffiness."
***UNDER EYE REVIVER***
The under eye reviver section comes in the form of a lotion, off white in colour and of slightly creamy consistency. The lotion is applied gently under the eye area, it soaks in within about 10-15 seconds via a small slightly pointed foam sponge which has lasted the entire 6 months well. My under eye area does looks minimally brighter but due to fact it has no properties to tighten the under eye skin temporarily I don't really feel that it is "reviving" my eyes. The actual application is good, the sponge allows accuracy and can be dabbed around without pulling the skin which sometimes happens when using fingers or brushes. I like the length of the application sponge as unlike the roller where you need to be close to the skin to control, with this further away is better as you can see what you are doing.
***AROUND THE EYE REFRESHER***
This portion comes in the style of a roller ball much like a few other branded eye products of recent time. Again easy to apply and soaks in within 10-15 seconds of application to the eye lid and outer corner of the eye. It does feel refreshing but I think that has more to do with the fact it is a cold metal ball rolling over the skin than the product itself. Again I don't really notice any viable refreshing or reviving to my eye area.
The actual application is nice give the tube a little shake to get the gel to the ball and it rolls on very smoothly, easily controlled with the shortness of the tube.
Product has a shelf life of 6 months which if you use religiously on a daily basis may just get there, in my experience the lotion runs out quicker than the roller ball end.
The item is available from most Body Shop retail outlets and online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk
A full ingredients list can be found at the website but the two main ingredients they push are aloe vera and camu camu berry.
The Body Shop products are not tested on animals and support fair/ethical trade.
For £11 at the time of writing (Oct 2011) you will receive 5mls of each part (lotion and roller).
It is a reasonable price given you get two products in one applicator however I think this product is better suited to young skin of teens and early twenties who have yet to require a uplifting tightening product.
Review maybe posted on ciao and dooyoo under the same user name :)
