A great eye serum which it is well worth trying

I have been using the This Works Tired Eye Serum for several months now after I bought it as part of a package of three This Works products on promotion. I have always had really dark circles under my eyes and have been looking for a product to help make them look less obvious for years but never really found one so I was interested to see if this would live up to the good reviews it has had on various websites.

The brand This Works uses a variety of natural ingredients in its products and claims to deliver Modern Natural Beauty." It is free from sulphates, colours and parabens, and is not tested on animals. It has also won a number of awards and can be purchased from various retailers including many larger Boots stores. As part of the Perfect Skin gift set you can buy this product, Perfect Cleavage and Perfect Hands all for £22, which is a bargain.

The eye serum is packaged in a 15ml white tube, which has a simple and clean design with the This Works logo on it and lilac writing. You dispense the product via a pump and I find that one pump per eye is plenty.

The serum is white and more like a light lotion when it is dispensed. It smells fresh and clean and is really gentle and suitable for all skin types. It contains a variety of ingredients to help sooth eyes and banish dark circles including glycerine, cucumber and arnica.

On using the product what I liked the most about it was that is really light and was easy to apply. It is not sticky at all and is quickly absorbed into the skin. It also seems very gently and has not irritated my eyes at all. I use it every morning after cleaning my face and applying moisturiser and also sometimes use it at night. It dries quickly and is easy to apply make up over it.

It is difficult to say if this product really works, as the dark circles under my eyes are so strong probably nothing much is ever going to change them! However it certainly feels nice to use and keeps the skin around my eyes moisturised and feeling soft all day. After using it for a number of weeks I also began to suspect that the circles under my eyes looked a little lighter and less obvious. This is a subtle change so I may be imagining it but I am hopeful that it has made a slight difference.

I would definitely recommend this serum, as it is lovely to use, natural and maybe really does work!

A great product - and at a great price on asos - recommended :)

      This Works Tired Eye Serum

I have wanted to try this product for a while now and about a month ago I bought it off asos.com, as it was quite cheap too. 'This works' was developed in 2003, they use a lot of natural ingredients in its products and a lot of their products (including this one) have won many beauty awards.

      *About this product*

I bought the travel size which is 5ml or 0.17 fl oz, which does not sound like a lot but you only need a really small amount of product. The product does have a very slight fragrance, something like aloe vera and cucumber, but it is really subtle. This eye cream is the winner of the best eye cream for dark circles (2010), it is gentle and it is suitable for all skin types.

The main ingredients and there properties are as follows:

Glycerin: moisturising, retaining the skins moisture and it is also softening

Cucumber: an anti-inflammatory, moisturising, refreshing (and it is supposed to tighten the skin)

Arnica: soothing, stimulates blood circulation and reduces puffiness and dark circles

      Aloe Vera: soothing, anti-inflammatory, hydrating

This works products are free from sulphates, colours, fragrances, parabens, mineral oils and they are also not tested on animals.

      *My opinion of the product*

      - How to use and Packaging

The directions on the back of the pump bottle I have say "Dab this soothing blend of Aloe, Arnica, Cucumber, Marine extracts whenever your eyes need a little TLC".

I have been using this products for probably just under a month and i still have not used a lot of the bottle up as you only need a small amount and also I find that it is easy to apply, it is easily absorbed into my skin and it keep my skin hydrated for ages.

I use this product at night and some times in the morning before my foundation (and after my moisturiser) and I really like the product. I dispense some of the serum onto my fingertip and then I dab it under each eye and then I pat it to blend it over the skin and to help it absorb. Although there is one main problem with this product and it is the design of the container.

The container it comes in (the smaller 5ml one I have has the same container as the full size) a pump bottle. The bottle is white with text and the text on it is really easy to read. But the actual pump at the top is not useful at all, every time - expect two times that I remember when it dispensed just the right amount of product - I use this product the pump dispenses far too much product for under my eyes - which means wasted product!

      - Appearance, colour, texture

It is a white product and when I first looked at buying this product I expected it to actually be a serum like consistency (like an oil) but it is not, it has the appearance and texture of a normal moisturiser - which was not what I was expecting. It has a very very subtle fragrance to it, like aloe and cucumber (you would expect that as they are two of the main ingredients) and it smells fresh.

      Using the product and Results

I really like using this product, it is a quite difficult to get the right amount of product out of the bottle but that for me is the only downside to this product.

It has a moisturiser like consistency (like the simple rich moisturiser) and it has a smooth texture - which makes it really nice, quick and easy to apply. I probably only takes me a minute or two, to apply the product and to let it absorb and then I can put my foundation over the top. This product does not affect my foundation, concealer or other make up items I put on.

I find that because it is quite rich and it also has a quite thick consistency that it keeps my under eye area really moisturised and not just in the short term when I first put it on - but it keeps my skin moisturised for most of the day.

After the application of this product my under eye area is super smooth, soft and it makes a nice moisturised base for my concealer too. After using this product for just under a month I find that my under eye circle (dark circles) are less dark, which is great. The effect of the serum is really good, I find that there are only positive results from this product - although the results are not instant so you have to carry on using the product.

For me I noticed a result from this product in about a week, after a week of using it I noticed that my under eye area was getting firmer, which is great. I am only 19 this summer but I have had eczema on my eyes and from using steroid creams such as hydrocortisone my skin has become a bit less firm (as steroid creams after using them for a while which I have, actually thin the skin).

As for the dark circle reduction this effect did not occur instantly, I started to notice a bit of a change after about 2 weeks, with a slight lighting of the skin. But now in just under a month there is a change in the colour (a positive change), the dark circles are less noticeable now - they are definitely not gone, but they have been reduced. I don't even know why I have dark circles (again because of my age) but I guess it is too much work at uni (I use any excuse for procrastination!).

      *Price and availability*

I bought this product from asos.com (and it has free delivery which is fantastic!) and it cost me £4.50 which is great and it is still on sale at asos for £4.50 so I suggest if you want to try it out, then you should head to asos and check it out. I have been using this for a while and even though it is only 5ml I have not used it up (there is probably half left). Th full priced version is only 10ml bigger than the £4.50 one and it costs £32 and can be bought from the link below.

      Good points

      *Cheap from asos
*Great packaging - cute little christmas cracker as it was a christmas gift set
      *Nice thick smooth texture
*Easy to apply and absorbs well
      *Moisturises, smooth, softens, hydrates
*Reduces the appearance of dark circles and it has tightened my under eye area too - the effect are not instant thought
*Some natural ingredients and not tested on animals

      Bad points

*Pump bottle dispenses far too much product - which means that you either have to use all of the product or waste it (I just use all of it)
