In one of my Birchboxes I got a little tube of Vichy Laboratories Liftactiv Serum 10. This Serum for Eyes and Lashes is designed to be used around the eye area. It helps to reduce puffiness and also helps fortify and strengthen lashes.
The serum is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and suitable for sensitive eyes. I do have sensitive skin and eyes, and am especially careful with my eyes as I wear contact lenses and if my eyes are irritated I can’t wear them. However I experienced no irritation whatsoever with this product. It is paraben-free and hypoallergenic; it is made with Vichy Thermal Spa water.
The serum contains rhamnose, ceramides and instant light reflectors. I don’t really know what any of these are (well, I imagine “instant light reflectors” is pretty self-explanatory) but it’s the effect I am concerned about. As I’m still under thirty, I don’t have wrinkles around my eye area yet but prevention is better than cure I suppose!
The serum has a light satin texture and it feels refreshing on the skin, without being too heavy. I used it morning and night and it lasted a few weeks. I did notice that my eyes looked brighter and healthier, although as I mentioned, I don’t really have any wrinkles so wouldn’t see a huge difference.
I did notice a bit of an effect with my eyelashes: they seemed to be a bit stronger and healthier, although I don’t know if this was just wishful thinking! Other reviews I’ve read, however, have commented that they have seen a genuine difference, so maybe I’m not imagining it!
Though this is expensive - £24.50 in Boots, for instance – I’d consider repurchasing if I was a bit older and needed a little more help with the skin around my eyes. For now, though, I think I can managed without it.
Vichy is a brand that I became familiar with whilst in Italy and I am a big fan of their products. I like to look after my eyes because I think they can age you quickly and so I bought the Liftactiv Serum for Eye and Lashes by the brand.
About the product
The product promise to give the eye area a lift to make the skin look brighter and healthier. It illuminates the skin and rejuvenates it to leave the area looking younger. It hydrates and nourishes the skin as well as strengthening and fortifying the lashes. It is suitable for use on all skin types. The product promises to leave the eye area looking and feeling refreshed.
How do you use the product?
You need to apply the product to cleansed and dry skin. You need to dispense some of the product and gently apply it to the skin around the eye as well as the lashes. You need to pat the product into the skin so that you don't cause wrinkles in the delicate skin.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a cute silver bottle. The bottle has a shiny metallic silver lid and when you pull it off, you see the white dispenser which you push down on in order to release the serum. The product will cost you around £20 for a tiny 15 ml but you do only use the product on a tiny area. It can be bought from large department stores such as Boots as well as a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product is easy to dispense from the bottle and you push gentle down on the top to dispense on drop. The product doesn't smell of anything in particular but it has quite a fresh scent. The serum is a pearly white colour and it has the consistency that you would expect from a product of this type, although it is marginally thicker than others that I have used.
The serum has a really silky texture which glides easily over the skin. It is light and easily absorbed by the skin. It feels comfortable and gentle on the eye area, and it feel cool and refreshing. The product doesn't feel strong or sting my eyes in anyway and it hasn't caused me to experience any discomfort. It makes my eye area feel incredibly soft and smooth so it must be hydrating and it does illuminate the skin a little bit leaving it looking healthier and brighter.
The serum doesn't seem to improve my wrinkles but as it hydrates the skin well then I can only assume that it will slow down the formation of any new ones. I can't say that I have noticed an improvement in the health or strength of my lashes. They do look a little shinier but that's all. The product doesn't make my skin look or feel greasy or unclean. It leaves a slight healthy sheen behind and it hasn't caused me to develop any blemishes.
All in all, this is an good eye product which leaves the skin feeling really soft and silky. It makes my skin feel comfortable and removes all feelings of tightness and dryness. It illuminates my skin leaving it looking brighter and healthier, and it leaves my lashes looking in a better condition. I like the product but I don't think it's worth the price so I'm giving it 4 stars.
I received the Vichy Liftactiv Serum for eyes ann lashes (yeux & cils) in the Boots Advent Calendar, much to my delight. I was familiary with the Vichy brand due to receiving other samples in my Beauty Boxes (Glossy Box). The thought of an anti aging eye serum that also treated the lashes really appealed to me, I think the eye area gets a lot of attention when it comes to putting make up on but removal and skin treatment, less thought.
I have a huge fear of eye creams in that I am convinced they are going to sting! So with this one I was pleased to read on the tube that it was suitable for sensitive eyes. I am sure most of us out there would say that we have sensitive eyes!! Inside the tube, the liquid is quite runny and a creamy white colour. Consistency wise, it is silky to the touch and easy to apply.
What's in it?
Amongst the other ingredients, rhamnose, ceramides and instant light reflectors are the key ingredients in this product which offer the anti ageing properties and a more youthful look.
I am careful to only use a very small amount as the eye area is not that big in relation to the rest of the face. First of all I dab on to the under eye area, quite generously and then above, up to the brow bone, inlcuding the eye lid. Finally I attempt to massage a small amount in to the lashes with my eyes closed. I tend to do it before bed to let the product work its magic overnight.
This product is not cheap! Expect to pay around £25 for 10 ml. Having said that, even with daily use, this would last months in terms of how much you apply each time.
I can definitely feel the product on my eye area once it has dried, it feels a little bit stiff. I call it the 'egg white effect' but I find this with quite a few eye products. For me the main plus point is that it has not stinging effect which is definitely important to me. In terms of performance I really like this eye serum and I have to admit my lashes feel really healthy and look in great condition, who would have thought you could condition your eye lashes?!
I don't have wrinkles yet, and am not really attempting an anti aging product but I do think prevention is better than cure and have used face products since I was in my early teens. Having young kids at the moment means my eyes often look tired so any help I can get on that front is most welome. I do think this is an excellent eye product and that it is most definitely worth the hefty price tag. I will consider a full sized purchae in the future as I have really rated this product from my advent calendar and am glad it was included.
