Is the product for you?
If you are after a fan which is very cost efficient, practically silent to run as so it doesn't disturb you working with a constant drone like larger fans, or even to leave on over night without been disturbed, and been quite powerful at the same time then this is the fan for you. If you work in a big building or for use in large rooms I would recommend upgrading to a larger fan as this is primarily used for small rooms with one or two people.
The product in one
For me this product is ideal, it features two different fan speeds which are just labelled "1" and "2", one been a slow spin and two been the fast spin. I always use fast spin as my room does seem to get pretty hot, and sometimes you can wake up feeling a little dry so this just keeps a continuous air flow throughout the room. Like I mentioned above the fan is good because it is really quiet, virtually silent, and this means I can leave it on throughout the night without it disturbing my sleep in any way. As well as the fan speeds you are able to press a button on the top back end of the fan which makes the fan turn from left to right to distribute the air in the room even better and reach places in the room much quicker. And a pretty good feature is the upward and downward tilt that you can do which I haven't been able to do with fans in the past.
The fan has attached a very long Two metre wire which comes in handy for people with plug sockets on the other side of the room to where they want to use the fan (of course you could just use an extension lead) but for me there is no need for either as I plug the fan in where I am using it. The fan has turned out very cost efficient compared to older fans. My Nan had gave me an old bulky one to use which was really noisy and on our electricity 'reader' it seemed to shoot up when this fan was plugged in, but when plugging this newer fan in it barely budges.
The fan its self isn't to sturdy if I'm honest which I would say is one of its drawbacks; it seems to be very flimsy, if you knock it slightly it looks as though it could topple over as it starts shaking a little. The base doesn't seem to move though which I guess is one of the things that make it a little sturdier but it's just the whole top half. As for the material it's made from it seems to be pretty strong, if the top half was a bit stronger and more sturdy then it would definitely support a fall but in its current state it would just snap I believe.
From my experience I know that this fan is best suited to smaller rooms as it is quite powerful and compact itself. It soon freshens the room up if it is in a small room but when put in a big room its takes about ten minutes to notice any difference, so I would recommend using on your desk at home or at work if you work in an office.
Around the metal casing of the fans blades is some clips which enable you to be able to take the front off, this then allows you to clean any settled dust off the blades before turning it on and blowing it all around the room.
How does it compare to other Products?
Compared to fans of the type, this is pretty average for a modern fan. It does have some good features such as been so small and money saving on the bills but as I said ti is pretty flimsy and isn't as strong as other fans I've had, I couldn't really see this fan lasting much longer than a few summers.
Does the Product Achieve its Purpose?
It achieves its purpose in providing a light, compact, powerful, cost efficient fan for a nice cheap price.
Breaking it down
· 2 Speed Functions
· Rotating Function
· 2 Metre Wire
· Small and Compact - Perfect for desktops
How to Improve
To improve this fan I would recommend improving the strength of the top half of the fan to make it more sturdy and able to survive a fall.

Bionaire BAFE1507
by JohnJoeSmith
How many times have you sat in a stuffy office trying to work on a computer wishing for a breeze of fresh air? If you work in the average NHS hospital the answer is every day of the week! Unfortunately the budget for office fans is slim nowadays, leaving us with a group effort to purchase a fan for the ward office.
Following a ... whip around one particularly hot and sticky morning we hit purchase on the Bionaire Box Fan from Amazon.co.uk for the paltry sum of £53.74 including delivery. I felt this was a bit expensive for a fan, but seeing as it was split between 8 staff it worked out to a reasonable contribution each. That being said, if I had to purchase a fan for my own home I'd be going with a cheaper model.
The fan comes out of the box fully assembled and sits proudly on the floor, stretching about 12 inches across at its widest point and about 6 inches deep. Made of white glossy plastic it looks pretty good combined with the wave-effect grille. I'm not sure what type of plastic it is but it doesn't feel too brittle and I'm sure it'll last us a while yet. Perhaps the cost is related to the size as this isn't a small item, it's a large piece of office furniture. It currently sits curled up like the local cat under the main desk and is fairly unobstrusive. I'd imagine it'd stick out a bit if you didn't have a convenient desk to hide it under however.
Using the fan is pretty simple, plug it in and press on and you're away. It has 3 separate speeds, slow, medium and fast. If you're on your own in the office slow is fine but as soon as more than one person is around then you need to bump it up. We've only ever gone as high as medium as high is just too noisy for us to work in for long periods. It's not going to damage your ears or anything, it's just a pain in the neck to listen to the constant whirring! Airflow is perfectly acceptable at medium as well so you aren't missing out by choosing it.
The model we received also comes with what is called "Aroma Feature" which claims to fit most popular brands of scented oils (glade anyone?). I like the idea of this feature as I feel it would probably spread an aroma further than a standard plug in. Unfortunately scented oils aren't allowed on the ward so we've yet to use this function. Is it a selling point? Maybe. Would I buy it because of the "aroma feature"? No.
Overall I'm quite pleased with our group purchase, the ward office is a nicer environment to work in now and you can do a half hours typing without needing a change of clothes! Would I buy this for my own home? I reckon so but I'd need a discount on the £53 pricetag, somewhere around £40 and I'd recommend it to everyone looking a bit hot under the collar.
4/5, just misses out on price. Read the complete review |

ProlineFH2000 Fan Heater
by SusanLesley
As a lot of you will know we have recently opened a lifeboat shop here in Llandudno. As it is a high street retail outlet we are open every day as opposed to the small shops attached to lifeboat stations which usually close during January and February.
That said our shop doesn't have any heating and we had two small radiators ... which were fine until the recent cold spell. After sitting shivering in the shop we set out in search of a small, cheap fan heater to keep us warm.
The one that we chose was the Proline FH2000 Fan Heater from Comet. This cost just £9.99 which is great as we don't want to be spending money unnecessarily.
What Does It Look Like?
The Proline fan heater is a sort of rounded triangle in shape with the workings of the fan set at the back of it. There is a carrying handle on the top and the two control knobs are at the bottom. The fan itself is behind a circular grid on the front. Since the base is wider than the top the whole thing is very stable.
The heater is 25cm tall by 20cm wide by 13cm deep so it is nice and compact and is ideal for us to put behind the counter in the shop. It weighs 9kg so it is easy to pick up and move around.
It comes in sturdy cardboard box complete with a set of instructions which, to be honest, are hardly needed.
How Does It Work?
Well this isn't going to be complicated as it is really easy and obvious.
The dial on the bottom right has four settings - off, fan, fan with 1kw of heat, fan with 2kw of heat. The dial on the bottom left is just a temperature dial - the farther round it is turned the hotter the air coming out of the heater.
If you set the dial to the fan setting the fan will work and distribute cool air around the room which will be useful for us when the weather is hot in the summer - we have large windows and the shop is likely to get very warm!
The other two settings will have the fan blowing lovely warm air out as soon as it is switched on - bliss!
The heater also has a thermostat which will automatically switch off the heater when the correct temperature for the setting you have chosen has been achieved. It will switch back on again once the temperature has dropped again.
Does It Do The Job?
Yes it does! We fetched the heater out of the box, plugged it in and switched it on and the difference was almost immediate!
It was enough to warm the room (and us) within half an hour or so and we were able to turn it off completely once the room was nice and warm and the two little radiators that we already had were enough to keep it warm thereafter.
For just £9.99 I think that this little heater is brilliant. In fact if I hadn't already got a fan heater at home I would have gone and bought another one for home.
The controls are versatile and easy to use and the carrying handle is an added bonus as it can be moved (carefully) even when it is use.
Anything Else?
Due to its size this heater is obviously going to be most useful for smaller areas although it would also be useful if you were sitting in a large cold room as you could use it to blow warm air towards your legs and feet.
It is stationary - it doesn't oscillate - so the hot air comes out in the same direction all the time.
Cleaning the fan isn't a problem. The casing can be wiped over with a damp cloth and the internal workings would benefit from an occasional vacuum with the hose to keep the dust build up at bay but that's about it really.
And Finally...
This heater is brilliant for our shop. It heats the room very quickly so it doesn't need to be left on constantly thus keeping the use of electricity down a bit.
It looks smart and clean, it is stable and easy to use and move about. It will keep us warm in winter and cool in summer and it only cost £9.99!
